Happy Thursday! For the first time since the remodel, I’ve been able to spend some time in the studio. I plopped down on the couch yesterday and slept most of the day. I remember seeing part of the noon news, then at 3:00 saw some soap opera on television, and finally at 6:00 when Lance came in he woke me up. I even went to bed at 10:00 last night and that is so not like me. I think I needed the sleep and feel much better today.

Anyhoo, since I didn’t complete the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge yesterday, I knew I wanted to try and hit a double challenge with today’s Ways to Use it Challenge. Loved yesterday’s sketch and today’s challenge is to use staples. Easy enough I have a stapler and have never ever used staples on a card before. This one really made me step outside my comfort zone. I still don’t like the look of staples, so I’ll probably never use them again.

I went through my sentiments, and thought I had found one that said You Make My Heart Sing. Cool . . . I could use a chipboard heart, blah blah blah. So I covered the heart with designer paper, and went to work on the layout. I sponged all the edges of the paper, distressed the darker layers and then sponged those. I then sewed the lighter paper on the sewing machine and finished up the round circle to hold the heart. I found my music background, stamped it on the heart and reached for the sentiment. Well guess what? The darn sentiment said, “You Make My Heart Smile,” and it wouldn’t fit in the space. So now I had to find a new sentiment because I sure wasn’t starting over. Yep, just another menopause moment!

I had the layout for yesterday’s sketch and to comply with today’s challenge, I stapled the ribbon to the circle and also stapled the middle distressed background to the layer of cardstock.
