Good morning ya’ll! Yesterday I told you that I would be announcing the next two Guest Designers for Rubbernecker. First, Shelly Kuck that Queen of Collage, has agreed to join us as a permanent Design Team Member.

Our two new Guest Designers who have agreed to spend the next couple of months with the Rubbernecker Design Team are Linda Duke and Leslie Miller. I can’t tell you how excited I am to be working with these marvelous designers. I had the opportunity to finally meet Linda while we were at CHA! Not only is she a fabulous designer, but has a great sense of humor. I have been a fan of Leslie’s for a long time, and have always been inspired and awed by her marvelous creations. I can’t wait to work with these ladies over the next couple of months and see what they have in store for us! I am so elated that both of them agreed to work with us.

As well as being Treasure Hunt Tuesday, Rubbernecker is also having a March Madness Sale. There are stamps in both the Rubbernecker and Stamp Oasis collections on sale for $2.95 or less. So while you are hunting for those clues to the Treasure, be sure to check out all the stamps on sale. You will have to make a small purchase to claim the treasure and those sale stamps are too good to pass up! Your treasure must be claimed between 4:00 a.m. PST until 9:00 p.m. PST today (7:00 a.m. EST – 12:00 a.m. EST), and don‘t forget that for every $50 in stamps purchased, you will receive one FREE stamp. RN 10 Buck

Well, since we are heading into March Madness, and the NCAA Tourney is getting ready to tip off, leave a comment on this post telling me who your pick is for National Champion. My pick, Indiana University of course! A few months ago I would have been jumping up and down — today, I’ll still pick them, but more out of loyalty than anything else!

The lucky winner will be picked by random sequence and will be announced tomorrow.

I’ll be back a little later with my Color Challenge card!

As promised earlier, here’s my Color Challenge card. When I checked in on the Splitcoast Color Challenge this morning, I have to admit – I almost didn’t do it. The colors, Sage Shadow, Orchid Opulence and Kraft, made me cringe. Not just cringe, shudder and shake. Well, after thinking about it for a few hours, and getting some other chores done, I had a brain storm – and before you say anything, YES, it hurt!

I got stampy with this card, something I don’t do enough of these days, and after the second attempt arrived exactly where I wanted.

CC158

I used a digital multimedia matte paper for the stamped panels. It’s a coated paper, works well to print photos on, however, because it is matte, doesn’t have the high gloss finish. It’s also a cover weight, which means it’s heavier than most photo paper. For the background panel I used the embossing resist technique. Before I stamped any images, I gave the paper some color, using a sea sponge, and sponged on variations of Old Paper Distress Ink and Sage Shadow. Once I had the color I wanted, I stamped the hummingbird randomly in VersaMark and used a heat gun to set it. The next step was to stamp the hummingbird again, but this time embossed with Ranger UTEE. You can see the marbled effect under the embossing.

For the image panel, I stamped the hummingbirds in VersaMark, heat set them, and using the sea sponge added the same colors as before to the panel. Before the ink dried completely, but while it was still wet, I used a sponge dauber and wiped off any excess to highlight the stamped images. I then stamped the flower image twice in Old Paper Distress Ink. For the middle flower image, I colored the image with Orchid Opulence and Sage Shadow Stampin’ Write markers, misted very lightly with water, and then stamped the image. The sentiment was stamped then stamped with Black Soot Distress Ink. For an added neutral color I chose black, to give the card some needed weight.

  1. okay, so i don’t follow college basketball (can I still get picked, and more importantly, do you still love me) but I am reasonably certain I.U. is in the mix, loyalty or otherwise, so I will say Indiana University!

  2. Okay, I am definitely going with the crowd here, because I don’t follow NCAA either. I will go for IU as well, because they have AWESOME colors! 😀 LOL Btw, I love your banner. Very pretty. If you changed it a while ago, sorry I didn’t notice it before. I read a lot from Blogger and only drop in when I see a good deal or DEFINITELY have to comment on a gorgeous card. 😉 Kel

  3. Congrats to these awesome designers! I am off to check out the treasure hunt…I had no idea you were in Indiana! You are only about 2 hours away! My husband is a huge IU fan. Take care! 🙂

  4. I know this is totally not PC but we are not basketball fans so I am not able to tell you who we are rooting for. This is horrible since we live in NC and should be enthusiastic TarHeel fans. But.. we are Nascar fans!!!
Thanks for the chance for blog candy.

  5. Ooh, sorry, not a fan. I really don’t know anything about it, but your pick sounds great!! I’m going hunting now! Hey congratulations to Shelly, Linda, and Leslie! Way to go!!

  6. ok…………not a fan, but will end up watching what ever game DH is watching (not that he cares who wins, he just LOOOVES watching basketball….we watched a 5-6th grade championship game last night…and it wasn’t my kids team!!(ok, it was a kid who played for DH TWO years ago!)

  7. what a great design team addition…

  8. Please don’t hold it against me, but I don’t follow any sports!!! But stamping is a kind of sport, right? LOL! Thanks for the chance!!!

  9. Sherry, I’m picking little known Fresno State for the womens finals mostly because I grew up there. They’ll probably get kicked out in the early rounds, but hey, they made it. For the men’s finals, just pull one out of the hat for me. You’ve added some great designers to the team.

  10. They’ll never be national champs, but I’m just so glad to see my Baylor Bears in the running this year. Their team has had such bad luck the last 5 years, it’s great to see them on a positive track. Thanks for the chance at some bucks.

  11. No way….I’m going with Memphis!!!!

  12. Yay! It’s time for Rubbernecker bucks again. Well, I’ve got to cheer for Portland State University because (1) that’s where I went to school and (2) it’s their first time going to the Big Dance. However, they’re playing Kansas so I won’t hold my breath. Go Vikings!!

    Take care – Regina Davis

  13. I am not following the NCAA this season! My dad would be disappointed, I know… 🙂 Just checking out your website and saw the comment area…thought I’d say hello. I’m a fellow SCS user…:)
    Love your site!

  14. Sorry, I’m not a NCAA fan…but I’ll sure root along with you for a chance to win some Rubbernecker bucks!! 🙂 GO IU!!! lol Thanks so much for the chance to win.!

  15. IU Alum here, so of course I’m cheering on the Hoosiers!! Besides, living here in B-ton doesn’t give me much choice. I love March Madness. On a different note, I absolutely love this card. The black accents add so much.

  16. March Madness, I know thats for basketball but thats about all I know. Love your card! Absolutely stunning

  17. University of Louisville! Even though I am not a basketball fan I will still pick them.

  18. Sorry I don’t know who is playing, just not a fan of anything but the Green Bay Packers…Thanks Kathy Hering…

  19. OK – has to be UCLA…that’s what the husband is hoping anyway!
This is fun – my first time to participate!

  20. Fabulous card! I love what you did with the color combo!

If it’s not too late to enter the drawing I would like to put in my guess. I did a search for March Madness to look at the records of the teams and I’m going to have to go with North Carolina. Since I don’t watch basketball I’m going strickly from their record.

  21. GASP!!! I loooooooooove that flower image!! Gorgeous, Sherry!!!
