Good Monday morning! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and feel rested and relaxed to start your week off. Of course, I do remember when I worked full-time and detested Monday mornings. Now I just loll around and enjoy the peace and quiet. The only thing is, today I must run errands. I’m expecting out of town visitors later in the week, and will be leaving for Akron on Thursday. Which reminds me, if you are going to Adventures in Stamping Show this coming weekend, stop by the Rubbernecker Booth and see us! Shelly and I will be there working along with Dave and Pat, the owners of Rubbernecker.

Today is another Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge. This week, the colors are red, pink and gray. You can find out more details and another sample by visiting Jeanne’s blog, Inky Paws. If you play along, and upload your card to your SCS Gallery, please use keyword RBC06. You can also find samples on Candy’s, Kittie’s and Shelly’s blogs today.

Before I show you my card, I have some Tawdry Treats for you. As a lead up to tomorrow’s Treasure Hunt at Rubbernecker, one lucky winner will receive a $10 Gift Certificate to be used at checkout when you place your order at Rubbernecker Stamp Company.

RNBC Gift Card

Along with the Rubbernecker Bucks, I’ve decided to throw in a little extra for you. The same winner will also receive one small stamp set ($10 value) of your choice listed on my Stampin’ UP! For Sale page.

All you have to do to win, is leave me a comment and tell me what your favorite book is and why. I just finished reading the Seventh in the Sisterhood Series by Fern Michaels’, Hocus Pocus. Over the weekend I started Fannie Flagg’s Can’t Wait to Get to Heaven. I’m always looking for something good to read! I’ll be picking the winner on Tuesday night and announce who that is on Wednesday morning.

Now, onto today’s RBC06 sample. The only thing I’m truly disappointed about, is that I could not get a decent picture with decent lighting of this card. The photo I ended up using, does not show the colors properly. I will be trying for another photo later.

RBC06

The floral image was inked with Oregano, Shell Pink and Cranberry ink, misted with water and then stamped. The hummingbird was inked with Lake Mist and Slate, misted with water and stamped. The edges of all the paper were sponged with Slate and the sentiment was also stamped in the same color. The image panel and all the background papers were stitched to the layers behind them on my sewing machine.

  1. My current fav (since it is the only book I’ve opened in about a year due to life’s craziness and stamping) is Giving by Bill Clinton. Thanks for the blog candy offer, Sherry!

  2. Sherry, what a gorgeous project. I love those stem images and the butterfly is wonderful. You certainly stepped up to the plate for this challenge and hit a homer. I had a very hard time making a good piece for this one.

  3. Sherry this card is just beautiful. Wow I am just loving what you are doing on these last few posts — not that I didn’t enjoy it before but something seems different to me. As for books, I am always reading at least one book. My all time favorite book is Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. It was a very thoughtful read and it kept pulling you through. The other book that I really liked was East of Eden.

  4. Gosh, your card is so elegant and gorgeous. I’m a subscriber who enjoys my cup of coffee and my daily dose of Sherry. I’m so excited to have a chance to win some blog candy. I have many fav books. One that I’m currently reading, for the third time, is “Footprints.” It is a true story describing the struggles of the woman who authored the famous poem. She lost the original copy in a move, and somehow it got into someones hands. The poem then went into print with author “anonymous.” Margaret finally won the rights to the poem, but not without a lot of heartache.

  5. Wow, your card is beautiful! I just found the author Lisa Gardner and read her book Hide, and then went back to the library and got all her other ones to read. I love a good mystery.

Thanks for the chance to win some blog candy.

  6. Sherry, another amazing card! This is so beautiful with those colours! Ilove the little heart slider! I love to read too, but it becomes all consuming, so I save it for the summer when I’m away from my stamps anyway. I read the Robert Jordan series (Wheel of Time) in it’s entirerty last year (11 books), and I am patiently waiting for the final book. Thanks for the opportunity!

  7. I am in Awe, beautiful stamping, love the sentiment and the stitching!
I will have to say my favorite book is Tara Road by Maeve Binchy, it is set in Ireland and I just love her writing and characters!

  8. Sherry, this card is just fabulous. I see another floral image I NEED! I love how you put that hummingbird right in amongst the blooms. I read a lot, mostly the quickie little romance paperbacks, but no book can compare with my Bible. It is full of promises, instructions for living, history, prophecy and the best part is that it tells how to get to heaven.

  9. The card is beautiful. It’s got such a touch of elegance to it. My favorite books are mysteries. I like trying to figure out what’s going to happen before the author reveals it. Sandra Brown–her later works–are probably my favorites.

  10. Love this card Sherry! I have a hard time telling you what my favorite book is because I love so many! One of the very best books I’ve read recently is Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I also am a big fan of Jodi Picoult, and just finished reading A Change of Heart and liked it a lot. I’m glad you asked this question because I’ll love seeing what other books people recommend!

  11. Sherry~ this is just STUNNING! My first reaction was just (insert jaw dropping here…….) WOW!!

Favorite book? Which ever one I’m reading!! hehe…..ok….I just finished Keeper and Kid by Edward Hardy….very good! Marley and Me by John Grogan (dog lovers prepare to shed a few tears!) Another one by John Grogan “Bad Dogs have more fun”…..”Merle’s Door” Lessons from a freethinking dog by Ted Kerasote(I just realized that I must be on a dog story kick….must miss my ol’ pooch more than I’m admitting!) and cheesy romance by Janet Evanovich (her Stephanie Plum novels…..funny!! not all google eyed!)

  12. I think this has to be one of most fav cards you have done, especially putting the hummingbird on there (since dad loved them so much).

  13. WOW, Sherry, this card is jaw-drop gorgeous!

Favorite book, huh…I’m currently reading Rescuing Sprite by Mark Levin and it’s wonderful. I highly recommend it for any dog lover! And let me plug my sister here…she wrote trashy romance novels for Harlequin and is getting back into it now so everyone be on the look-out for Miranda Catlin’s books 🙂

  14. Beautiful card!!! I would have to say my all time favorite book is The Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck…I love reading, so I have lots more favorites, but that is my fave. Thanks so much for the chance to win!!!

  15. I love the colors on this card! Especially the butterfly in gray against the red flowers. Very nice job 🙂

If you like a book that will keep you guessing until the end, try The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. A young girl is hired to record the story of a famous author, and a gothic mystery arises from her past. It was the best book I read last year (and I read a couple of books a month)!

It will be fun to read the comments to see all the suggestions. Thanks for sharing 🙂

  16. All right Sherry, I see nothing, nothing wrong with this card. Stop being so hard on yourself. Have fun in Akron. Too bad I don’t live closer I’d love to meet you and Shelly. Let’s see if I can get this week’s challenge done in time. I’m still working on last weeks since I kept getting interrupted all the time. Geez. I love reading the Star Wars books since I’m a little spacey from time to time. lol Seriously, I grew up while the movies were coming out and I’m just a true Star Wars nut.

  17. Your card is beautiful. I love Angels and hummingbirds!!!
In fact, my favorite book is called, Angels 101 by DOreen Virtue.

I also love ANYTHING by Janet Evanovich. =)

  18. I am reading Cassidy by Lori Wick. She is a Christqain writer and I just love her.

    It’s a good life!
    Terri E.

  19. I am reading Cassidy by Lori Wick. She is a Christian writer and I just love her.

    It’s a good life!
    Terri E.

  20. Love your card! I love the Rubbernecker challenge it really pushes me to use colors that I would never use together.
As for my favorite books… I have quite a few, one of my old favorites is Texas Women, by Janice Woods Windle, or Windle Woods I always get that mixed up. More recent reading I have really enjoyed is the Debbie Macomber “Heart of Texas” Series. I have blown thru each book, and preorder the next. And while waiting for it to arrive re-read the the previous book again. I really enjoyed them all!

  21. First, I thoroughly enjoy your blog!! Love your creativity, talent, and sense of humor!! I have a link to your blog on my desktop! 🙂 Three of my favs on my “keeper” shelf are Bonesetter’s Daughter by Amy Tan, Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden and The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. Love, LLove, LLLove them!!!

  22. Oh I just love this creation, Sherry! That flower is wonderful and I adore that butterfly and sentiment! 🙂
    ~Angie

    Heidi

  24. GASP!! WOW Sherry, this is beyond stunning! I love it!

  25. I am totally OHHH SOOO Lovin’ all your flower cards ~~ your colour choices just make it seem all that more real and alive.
My favorite book, is probably gonna sound like a total snore-fest, but I have to admit it has been the only book, to date, that I’ve read that has brought me to tears. And the book is a THOUSAND times better then the movie … but it just *touched* me in a way that I’ve never been stirred before, by a fiction writer … my favorite book is,
    “The Bridges Of Madison County”

  26. This is totally gorgeous!!!
    Love anything by Nicholas Sparks!

  27. Wow Sherrry, that card is stunning! Love everything about it! My favourite classic book- To kill a Mockingbird! But I have to say of the recent reads, THe Kite Runner and A thousand splendid Suns re great (albeit difficult due to subject matter) reads!
Thanks for the blog candy chance!
    Diane

  28. Beautiful Card!! My favorite book(s) would be the Black,Red,White series by Ted Dekkar..love him..his books are so enjoyable to me. Thanks so much for the chance to win.

  29. Gorgeous card. Love the sentiment. I’ve been reading a lot of James Patterson novels. I’m starting a new one that seems a little outside his comfort zone called Mary, Mary. I also like anything by Mary Higgins Clark.

  30. This is soooo gorgeous, Sherry!!!

  31. Lovely, absolutely lovely! My favorite fiction is East of Eden by Steinbeck. My favorite book is the Bible.

  32. Pretty card.
My favorite book is “High Yield Gardening” published by Rodale. It is the book that started me in the direction of Horticulture and Organic Farming year ago.

  33. Sherry, I love all of your work.

Right now I’m reading The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon…I’m on book #3. I don’t know if this is my favorite book but it a pretty interesting read. It is a time travel/romance series.

  34. […] sure to visit Sherry’s blog for a chance to win the same prize.  You can only win once, but you have two chances.  Good […]

  35. beautiful card!!:

    I have a few favs-
Lovely Bones- difficult but soooo good!
Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less- just a fun romp
    Metzger’s Dog=- same as above

  36. […] way first. It’s TREASURE HUNT TUESDAY @ RUBBERNECKER today! Ya’ll know that I’ve got some Tawdry Treats that I posted yesterday. Don’t forget to leave me a comment, sharing your favorite book and why. […]

  37. Absolutely gorgeous!!!

my favorite book? hmmm, thats a hard one because I don’t really read as much anymore. I used to love to read and would always have a book with me reading, but then I had kids. And well, I’m lucky most nights if I can keep my eyes open past 2-3 pages. I’m enjoying the Sophia kinsella books now. Easy reads.

  38. What a cute card! I love the Patricia Cornwell books but don’t really have a favorite!

  39. Beautiful card! Thanks for sharing! I really enjoyed Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs.

  40. I read almost anything and everything I can get my hands on, but my recent faves are Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver, The other Boleyn Girl by Phillippa Gregory and The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet. You have such beautiful cards, thanks for sharing!

  41. Wow! Your artwork is stunning. I find it so inspiring. I am loving what you are doing with the flowers lately.

  42. Gorgeous Card! Wow!
I love to read so there are many favorites! I enjoy Jennifer Weiner’s books (chick lit). I loved The Lovely Bones and another Alice Sebold book, Lucky. The Secret Life of Bees is another one that I love. There are lots that I want to read, like Water for Elephants. Maybe this summer! Great question!

  43. Your card is beautiful Sherry, I love the colors!
Before I saw your card I though the colors were a bit odd, after viewing your card I love the color combo.
My recent favorite book is The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillippa Gregory. I love basically anything related to the Tudor era. I can’t wait to see the DVD when it is released!
    malieta:)

  44. I love the card, especially since it has one of my favorite birds. I can’t wait to put my hummingbird feeders out in a couple of weeks. I usually love to read mysteries or romance novels, but I’ve recently started reading all of the Jane Austin books again. Love that Mr. Darcy!!!!

  45. Gorgeous!! My all time favorite book…Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell. I’ve got an old copy, 1940, that belonged to my MIL. I could read it over and over, and have!

  46. Really pretty!!! My fav. author is a toss up between Tami Hoag and Dean Koontz. I love them both equally. Her best book is Night Sins and his is Intensity.

  47. I too love this card but it’s hard not to love anything that involves Tim. My favorite book is The Secret Life of Bees. I read it every August. It takes me back to my childhood.

  48. Your card is beautiful. I have gotten some of the Rubbernecker stamps and I really like them. Thanks for a opportunity to get some more.

  49. Your card is beautiful!! I *love* the flowers!
My favorite book is always the last one that I’ve read! 😀
I just finished Big Stone Gap by Adrian Trigiani. I’m awaiting the 2nd and 3rd book in the series – can’t wait!
Thanks for the chance to win!

  50. Sherry, what a beautiful card. I always love to see stitching on cards. It really adds dimension. Wow, my favorite book. That’s a hard one to answer but I think it has to be The Bourne Identity by Robert Ludlum. (There is absolutely NO COMPARISON to the crappy movies made recently starring Matt Damon) It’s a thrilling page turner with lots of great characters. It’s a bit violent but it fits in with the story. I’ve read that book so many times but I never get bored with it. There are so many details and such an involved story I always pick up something new. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy is also a spectacular read. A rousing adventure, again with many great characters and an awesome story line.

  51. Gorgeous card! and thanks for the chance to win. My favorite book – hard to say actually. I love to read so I have lots of favorites….I read a lot of mysteries – just finished a bunch of them by Joanne Fluke. They are full of yummy recipes, too. Currently I’m reading When the Heart Waits by Sue Monk Kidd. It’s pretty good so far, but I’m only in the second chapter!!

  52. Wow – this card is stunning! The stitching is something I have never tried – I don’t think faux counts!

One of my all time fav books (I prefer happily ever after….) is Perfect by Judith McNaught.

  53. Your card is fabulous!! I’m sorry but I’m not a reader,so can’t suggest anything!lol!
    Thanks anyways!

  54. This creation is absolutely beautiful! I love hummers and have them all over the outside of my house….real live ones. I have a few inside too.

My favorite book? That’s a bit of a hard task but I’ll always remember “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein. Its a book about the gift of giving, try it. I’m such an eclectic reader that I read murder mysteries, currently reading the series by A J Jance, and I read philosophical stuff, can’t think of an example right this moment. I have spent many a wonderful hour reading ever since I was a child, too old to nap but required to lay down and rest. I suffer from sleepless nights several nights a week and turn to reading to help pass the time. I’ve taught reading to young children in a “Head Start” program and read to my nieces and nephews, complete with voice in character. Love reading almost as much as stamping.

  55. I love the different techniques you use and how they really bring out the image! Thanks for a chance at blog candy!

  56. I forgot to mention my favorite book. . . I love so many books, it’s hard to pick just one! Trail of Hope was a good one. . . It’s really just letters of pioneers put together in a book, but it was sure fascinating to read!

  57. Well, like many stampers & paper crafters, I don’t read as much anymore. I think stamping & card making is more fun! But the most recent books I have taken the time out to read are the books from the Harry Potter series. I love the vivid details that the author uses to tell each story. While I’m reading I paint a scene in mind just a vivid as she decribes. She also, always leaves me with the “what happens next” feeling.

  58. Sherry, I just love the Stephanie (perfect) Plum series by Janet Evanovich. If you haven’t read them yet you need to run…………..to your local library and start with “One for the Money”, then “Two for the Dough” you get the idea. They are so funny and I think you are BAD enough to enjoy them.

  59. Thanks for the chance to win the Rubbernecker coupon! Favorite book? I think anything by Lillian Jackson Braun. Gotta love those cats!

  60. Wow, my favorite book? Since I read so much that’s really hard to answer. I do enjoy reading with my daughter and I’d say our favorite author is Kate Dicamillo. She has wonderful characters in her stories. We are currently reading Inkheart and are enjoying it a lot.

Thanks for the chance for bucks.

    Joanne L.

  61. My new favorite books are the Mitford series by Jan Karon. I just finished reading Home to Holly Springs. These books are about an Episcopal priest who finds love at the ripe old age of 62. The stories are homey without being preachy. I hope she writes another one.

I am currently reading Unknown Means by Elizabeth Becka, a forensic specialist with the Cape Coral, FL police department. It is her second book.

Thanks for the chance to win some free stuff!

  62. Your cards are fantastic…I always enjoy coming to your blog. Hmm I haven’t read that Fern Michaels series yet, thanks for the heads up. I love anything by Nora Robers, JD Robb (Nora Roberts) and Janet Evanovich. Janet has a new one coming out in June, # 14 in her Stephanie Plum series. I also love Lisa Scottoline, Tami Hoag, and Iris Johansen (who has a new one out!!) I haven’t read a book by any of these authors that I didn’t like!

    Lori D.

  63. I get such a chuckle out of the Janet Evonovich One thru Thirteen. I find myself laughing out loud sometimes.

  64. It is very hard for me to narrow it down to one book. I love so many – one of my favs is the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton.

  65. I am not an avid reader (unless you consider Splitcoaststampers and e-mail reading…….) When my daughter went to college (Ohio State), all of the incoming freshman students had to read a book, “What is the What”. I don’t read alot of books….but, this book about the Lost Boys was so interesting, I could not put it down. Plus, a portion of the proceeds from the purchase of this book went to charity- what an amazing life the lead character had lead- all on the run and in refugee camps prior to coming to America. Oh, the things we take for granted!!!
Oh- do you consider all of the blogs I am subscribed to reading???…………hahahahaThanks for your inspiration!!!

  66. I know this is over, I just had to tell you that your card is SO very beautiful. I am so inspired by the way you’ve coloured the stamp. The pinks are breathtakingly lovely, :0)
