Good morning all! Yesterday I told you had a surprise for you today. Back last October, I met Kelley Holland (a/k/a kellrick on SCS) at a Splitcoaststampers Stampin’ and Pamperin’ Retreat in Cincinnati. We have emailed back and forth a little now and then, her asking questions mostly and me hopefully answering. I had the great fortune of running into Kelley again while I was working the Rubbernecker Booth at the Akron Stamp Show. She came to the booth to see me and to chat awhile. Now here’s the funny part. Just a few days before leaving for Akron, I was cruising the net, clicking on SCS Banners, and ran across Our Daily Bread Designs. I was very impressed with the images, actually I loved them, but couldn’t quite see myself using the sentiments. Not that I’m not spiritual, but they just weren’t something I could see myself using. If ya know what I mean – Her Royal Badness (the twisted and demented stamper) using religious sentiments. In the course of my conversation with Kelley she was telling me she had started a new stamp company, and wanted to know if I could possibly design some things for her. What I didn’t know, was that her new company was Our Daily Bread Designs. Well my mouth just dropped – I was so excited. The images that I were so impressed with, were Kelley’s. Of course I told her I would be more than happy to be a Guest Designer for her. So here I am, Her Royal Badness using religious images and sentiments! Just goes to show you that you never know what can happen.

My first card for Kelley was actually the one I posted a few weeks back, In the Garden. Only you didn’t know that I was going to be a Guest Designer for her. With the upcoming release on June 15th of two new sets, I get to officially tell you now! WOO HOO!

Here’s my first official card for Our Daily Bread Designs, using the new set Sing to the Lord.

ODB - Sing to the Lord Bird

When I saw this image of the bird, the first thing that came to mind was a blue bird. But then I thought that was really rather obvious, and decided to do some research on different birds. What I found was a house finch that somewhat resembled the bird in the image – well at least I thought it did. It has the same beak. So, I colored the image with Copic Markers and then cut it out using one of the larger oval Nestabilities. Once I had the image cut out and embossed, I left the Nestability on, masked the bird and branch, and colored the background with the Copic Airbrush System. To keep the colors for the card muted, I picked a piece of BasicGrey Periphery for the background, distressed the edges and then sewed it to a piece of brown cardstock. I couldn’t bear to cover that beautiful piece of background paper, so no other layers. I wanted it simple, and settled on a piece of blue ribbon as an accent. What I love about this, is that the bird in the oval appears to be looking at the bird in the BasicGrey paper.
