Good morning all! Yesterday I told you had a surprise for you today. Back last October, I met Kelley Holland (a/k/a kellrick on SCS) at a Splitcoaststampers Stampin’ and Pamperin’ Retreat in Cincinnati. We have emailed back and forth a little now and then, her asking questions mostly and me hopefully answering. I had the great fortune of running into Kelley again while I was working the Rubbernecker Booth at the Akron Stamp Show. She came to the booth to see me and to chat awhile. Now here’s the funny part. Just a few days before leaving for Akron, I was cruising the net, clicking on SCS Banners, and ran across Our Daily Bread Designs. I was very impressed with the images, actually I loved them, but couldn’t quite see myself using the sentiments. Not that I’m not spiritual, but they just weren’t something I could see myself using. If ya know what I mean – Her Royal Badness (the twisted and demented stamper) using religious sentiments. In the course of my conversation with Kelley she was telling me she had started a new stamp company, and wanted to know if I could possibly design some things for her. What I didn’t know, was that her new company was Our Daily Bread Designs. Well my mouth just dropped – I was so excited. The images that I were so impressed with, were Kelley’s. Of course I told her I would be more than happy to be a Guest Designer for her. So here I am, Her Royal Badness using religious images and sentiments! Just goes to show you that you never know what can happen.

My first card for Kelley was actually the one I posted a few weeks back, In the Garden. Only you didn’t know that I was going to be a Guest Designer for her. With the upcoming release on June 15th of two new sets, I get to officially tell you now! WOO HOO!

Here’s my first official card for Our Daily Bread Designs, using the new set Sing to the Lord.

ODB - Sing to the Lord Bird

When I saw this image of the bird, the first thing that came to mind was a blue bird. But then I thought that was really rather obvious, and decided to do some research on different birds. What I found was a house finch that somewhat resembled the bird in the image – well at least I thought it did. It has the same beak. So, I colored the image with Copic Markers and then cut it out using one of the larger oval Nestabilities. Once I had the image cut out and embossed, I left the Nestability on, masked the bird and branch, and colored the background with the Copic Airbrush System. To keep the colors for the card muted, I picked a piece of BasicGrey Periphery for the background, distressed the edges and then sewed it to a piece of brown cardstock. I couldn’t bear to cover that beautiful piece of background paper, so no other layers. I wanted it simple, and settled on a piece of blue ribbon as an accent. What I love about this, is that the bird in the oval appears to be looking at the bird in the BasicGrey paper.

  1. What a beautiful card, Sherry! And those are beautiful stamps, too. Congrats on being asked to be a guest designer – Kelley has great taste!

  3. Congrats, Sherry. I love her images, although I haven’t been able to get any yet. This is gorgeous!

  4. Sherry, I am simply gaga over this card! lol!! I love how you colored the bird in and the background!! Thanks so much, you’re not so BAD after all!!!

  5. Hey Miss Twisted & Demented ~~ Congratulations on another feather in that massive cap of yours 🙂 I’m sure in no time you’ll have Kelley utilizing some of Your Royal Badness’ sentiments and then life will be great!

On a more serious note Sherry, I’m very proud of your accomplishments and how they continue to expand and grow with each passing month. Geesh that side-bar of yours where you outline all of the “Current Design Teams” you are part of, certainly says it all ! Seems all of the “heavy hitters” want you on their team which is a brillant move on their part.

But now be totally honest Sherry, do they really know what they are getting themselves into having you on the team and being around you when your little red horns pop out of your head, and that spikey tail comes thrashing out? Heheheheee

Congratulations again Sherry ~ you so deserve this honour 🙂

  6. Congrats, Sherry! Well deserved, too! When I open my e-mail box and see “Walkin’ on the BAD side,” I always read that one first. Absolutely have loved your style since I “met” you on SCS with your twisted and demented challenge to look at my stamps from a different perspective.

Your bird image is brilliantly colored and put together with that dp. Wonderful card. Your sewing adds so much to your cards. My only machine is my great-grandmother’s treadle Singer, and I’m not sure it could handle paper.

  7. Congrats on your little secret, Sherry! Looks like her Royal Badness won’t have a problem with these stamps. You do great work!

  8. That’s beautiful! I love your blog. Thanks for sharing your wonderful artwork.
