Hey ya’ll! I thought I was going to get some stamping in today that I could share with you, but alas it just isn’t going to happen. Life is just getting in the way today! I know I haven’t told you, but Sydney is ill and we’ve had to move her to Kate’s for a while. I took her to the vet the other day for her yearly shots and she had a fever. While they were checking her over, they noticed a knot on her back. Apparently while the two pups were playing and rough housing, Syd had sustained a back injury. She had been acting a little funny for a couple of days (hiding behind the furniture and not wanting to play a great deal) but it was her warm nose that made me sit up and take notice Tuesday morning. Luckily we had a vet appointment all ready for that afternoon. The vet put her on meds and told me to keep her calm for a few weeks. That means no jumping, no stairs, no running, etc. Virtually impossible when you have two in the house. So we thought the best thing for Sydney would be to send her to Kate’s so that she could be confined and rest. Here’s the bad part, ELLIOTT IS BESIDE HERSELF! She is so mopey and needy. You can tell she definitely misses Syd being here, and we’ve had to get a stuffed lion to put in her kennel to take Syd’s place. The first night Elle wouldn’t settle down and I finally thought about the lion, which is a little bigger than the pups. I put the lion in the back of the kennel (where Syd would normally go) and Elle went right in, with no more whining. The next morning, Elle had moved the lion up to the front of the kennel so that it was looking out and she was lying on it. Just like both of them would be in the mornings. Hopefully, we’ll have Syd home soon and all of us can get back to our normal routines.

I am going to show you a card I did the other day, but before I do that I need to ask for some help. Rubbernecker has two shows coming up in Colorado, and we need a couple of people to demo at the show. If you are in the vicinity of these shows and can help at either show, please send me an email!!

Anyhoo, this is the card I did for last week’s Inspiration Challenge.

IC135

I used a piece of matte digital imaging paper for this project. I inked the leaves first in Snow Cap pigment ink, pounced with Peeled Paint, and stamped the image. It was embossed with UTEE. I then stamped the white flowers in Snow Cap pigment ink and embossed them. The dragonfly and butterfly were both inked in Snow Cap, rock and rolled in Dried Marigold, stamped and embossed. Using daubers, I began to apply different colors of green ink to the background, wiping away the excess with a rag. Once I had the desired effect, the image and mats were cut out using circle Nestabilities. The background paper was cut to size and the extra scraps were used for the extra layers. The edges of all paper were sponged with Vintage Photo and the edges of the two smaller panels were distressed.

  1. Well, tho it’s not her “real” pal, glad Elliot is content (for now) with her stuffed pal.
Love the colors on the card…..(thanks for the afternoon pickup!!)

  2. Hope Syd is on the mend and up and around soon! Ya know I’d entered Jeanne’s blog contest saying I liked another set better, but now I like In the Meadow BEST! Thanks for sharing!

  3. All the best to Sydney and Elliott! My dog has experienced 2 neck injuries, and was also confined to “bed rest”. We were also recommended surgery to repair the disc. We opted for the bed rest to see how that worked, and it worked very well. We also bring Stella to a chiropractor (animal trained). He has made all the difference in the world! It is like having a new dog! And Stella LOVES him (or maybe its all the treats?).
Anyway, in my experience, I would recommend looking one up in your area. Being firm believers in chiropractic treatments for us, it was natural for us to bring our “dogter” too!
Good Luck, and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about it!

  4. Sherry, I’m sorry to hear that Sydney’s not feeling well. And poor little Ellie! Hopefully they will back together soon!

I think I need to work those shows with you! Especially the one at the Budweiser Center! Snort!

  5. Sherry, this is very pretty. Thanks for giving the detailed instructions. Sorry to hear about Syd. I hope she is going to be okay. And I hope she is able to return soon for Elle’s sake (and hers).

  6. Sherry, I’m sorry to hear about your puppy’s escapades. Hope the confinement won’t last too long. And your card is beyond gorgeous!

  7. Here’s wishing Sydney a speedy recovery. It is so hard to have one of your critters not feeling their best. Glad you got her to the Vet. I bet she’ll be back to her old self in no time! Elliot and her lion will sustain till Sydney’s back home. Now you take care of yourself too. Love your card too.

  8. So sorry to read about Sydney; hope she makes a quick recovery. We love our pets almost as much as our own children, sometimes more depending on our children 🙂 The card is beautiful; you did a great job explaining the techniques.

  9. Awesome stamping and embossing, love the colors and distressing!
