Arrrrr ye mateys! It’s Tuesday and that means thar’s a Treasure Hunt a happenin’. Shiver me timbers – you heard me right. It’s Treasure Hunt Tuesday at Rubbernecker! To find yer first clue on the treasure map (and all the other deets), ya must travel to the Rubbernecker Home Page and from there follow the clue! On yer way, please stop by me mates, Kittie, Broni, Candy, Linda, Shelly and Tami, for a visit and see what they’ve been up to. Ya never knows what prizes or treasure you will find along yer way!

I have some extra for ya today – a little bit of blog candy! Some Rubbernecker Bucks for yer spendin’ pleasure.

RNBC Gift Card

Here’s how ya earns it. Leave me a comment, nothing in particular today. However, if you feel like tellin’ me a story, I’d love to hear it! I’ll pick a winner and post tomorrow mornin’.

Before I get to my card today, I do have to tell you that there is no Blogger Challenge this week. A winner for the month of July will be announced later this week however, so stay tuned!

Now, here’s my card. Well not really a card, but a tag! I was in a taggy mood last night and I couldn’t wait to try some of the techniques I picked up while watching some of the demos in the Ranger Booth at CHA.

Bat House Tag

I started with a white shipping tag and inked the tag with Spiced Marmalade, Dusty Concord and Vintage Photo Distress Inks. The edges were lightly distressed and then Black Soot was applied to the edges, softly blending it onto the tag. I misted then misted the tag with a Dusty Concord and Pearl Shimmer Mist, dabbing away the excess with a rag. Once that had dried, I sprayed a little water into my hands and then shook them over the tag leaving water droplets on the ink. The image was stamped in black pigment ink and then embossed with Disco Black embossing powder. I stamped the image a second time on white paper, embossed it the same way and cut out a few of the bats for layering on the tag. I love the way some of them hang over the edge. For the sentiment, I misted another shipping tag with the same Dusty Concord/Pearl Shimmer Mist and dabbed most of it away to leave just a hint of the color on the tag. The sentiment was stamped and embossed with the same embossing paper. The sentiment is attached to the top of the tag with brads and the ribbon was tied to a piece of hardware, fringed and frayed and then melted with a heat gun.

  1. I love your tag!!! My hubby and brother would love it too…they are Halloween babies:o) Also, thanks for reminding me that today is Tuesday. We recently moved into our new home; and most days, I don’t know whether I am coming or going. I love the new home, but unpacking sucks! KWIM? Have a Terrific Tuesday…I am off to look for treasure.

  2. Hi Sherrie, I thought of you the other day as I rolled through your area. We talked in Akron in the spring. My MIL wanted to go to Lynn’s Paradise Cafe in Louisville for her 76th BD. You have some really cute stuff on your BLOG. Are you guys going to be in Cincy next week?

This was my first Dirty Dare and so much fun!

I will have to remember to check back here.

  3. What an awesome tag. I love your work so much.

  4. Hi Sherry, I’ll trade my cat for the rubbernecker bucks! He whines every morning starting around 6 am for me to get up to feed him. I don’t do mornings until 7 am (at least) but he just doesn’t get it yet (well he is only 16 1/2 years old so maybe there is still time for him to get the hint?) LOL

OK, OK I’m keeping the cat but thanks for the opportunity! Hope your day is fun and that you are feeling better.

  5. Hi Sherry, Bucks for Rubbernecker is great! I don’t have any of their stamps and would love to get started! Will look over the site when I get home from work tonight. BTW, you were my inspiration to order some stamp sets from Our Daily Bread. A customer asked me for some religious cards and I had seen these beautiful stamps on your blog so placed my order last night! Keep up the good work! Love your blog!

  10. I love the richness and depth of your tag, just wonderful!

  11. Good Morning! I love all your fantastic creations. You are so very talented. I do have a question though – what do you do with all your beautiful items you make? Just curious 🙂 I”m off to the treasure hunt….Aaargh

  12. When I went to the Treasure Hunt this morning, the prizes didn’t really ‘grab’ me. Then…I stopped by your blog and WOW I love your tag!!! Me thinks that I’ll be stopping by Rubberneckers again! Thanks for the inspiration!

  13. Sherry, this is one of the cutest tags ever made! The bats look great and am wondering where I would order the embossing powder, is it from Rubbernecker, too? I love seeing what surprises you have on your blog; what an inspiration you are to me and to so many other card crafters. Have to add one more bit of info: One day I was browsing through some blog sites and checking out whose blog comes close to yours, talent wise. One blog site, owned by a very talented and well-known paper crafter, mentioned that they had the pleasure of meeting you at CHA. I told my husband that the first blog I set to favorites was also the favorite of so many others and that apparently my taste for Sherry Cheever is class A1 🙂

  14. Gorgeous tag, Sherry! I peek in at your blog daily! Great stuff! You wanted to hear a story?! Boy do I have one for you! Giggles! My 18 year old son has an adorable 18 year old girlfriend. Sweetest little thing you’ll ever meet! She is a cross country runner and is leaving soon for college to run for them. Any how this weekend she somehow managed to talk my son into running a 5k with her…naked! It was held at the Bar S Ranch a little south of where we live and there were 400 other runners in the race! You guessed it…all in the buff! My son said he had on his number, a sheepish grin and his tennis shoes! Ah the bravery of the youth! LOL On a sidenote, his girlfriend won the race! : ) Have a great day!

  15. I love this tag — well first Halloween is my very favorite holiday and I also love bats and purple is my favorite color. Me thinks you made that tag just for me. Thank you.

  16. Really like the tag you made- I think I will get that stamp!

  17. Hey hope you are feeling better. I love your Halloween card! I especially loved how the ribbon loooked kind of old and ratty-you are so creative.
thanks for all your wonderful ideas and inspiration.

  18. Ahhhhh!!! What a nice cuppa to get me weary rear going today. LOVE the tag (yeah…you have inspired me to try tags…have a whole bunch of them just waiting for me to do something with!)
Story: We just got a new puppy and I have forgotten how EXHAUSTING they can be!! Cutest little Australian cattle dog (aka red heeler/blue heelers (ours is a red one!)or Queensland Heelers). Getting up at 5 am every morning to let him out of his crate/play with him finally caught up with me today. I can hardly think.

Speaking of pups…how is your pup doing with the back injury? (keep meaning to ask…but keep forgetting!)

  19. Love your tag, Sherry! Thanks for the chance! ;-D

  20. Hey…no stories from me…I hope you had a great time at CHA….

  21. Love your card! Years ago it was Halloween and I was home alone. I love treating the kids. I was sitting on the sofa with my leg under me and when I got up to treat this cute little kid, my foot went to sleep and I fell into the door. I scared the poor kid and was very embarressed. I gave double treats to that little one! LOL

  22. Every Tuesday, my co-worker and I “treasure hunt” on Rubbernecker to see what we can find. When I saw the stamps today, I was not in love with them and thought I could live without them. Then my co-worker found your tag online and sent me the link. Amazing what an awesome demo can do to change your mind about buying a stamp! Your work is FABULOUS!!! LOVE the tag and I am saving your site to my favorites for future inspiration.

  23. How cool! What a spectacular Halloween tag! I love the embossed house and bats and, boy, does that background look awesome!

  24. Sherry, what a cool tag! Glad you’re feeling better. Hmmm, a story – better not go there. LOL. But who couldn’t use extra Bucks for Rubbernecker stamps!?!

  25. Love that tag! Halloween is my favorite.

  26. Hi Sherry, Love your bat house tag. Can’t wait to see more of what the DT can do with all of those Halloween stamps–I love them!

  27. WOW! Love your tag Sherry!

  28. Sherry – That tag is just the coolest! Love the great colors and the sparkle!
    ~Angie

  29. I’m in love with your tag!! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and those glittery bats are just too cool!

  30. The halloween tag is very cute – i love the shinyness, which offsets the dark colors. I’m moving past Halloween and heading straight into Christmas cards right now (and suffering much mocking from my colleagues on the early start). So it’s nice to take a break and look at some gorgeous other holiday creations.

  31. Sherry, I love your Halloween tag! What a great technique!! The bats are so cool!! I will have to check out the Halloween stamps. I made a card the other day using the distress inks and the shimmer mist spray, never thought to do the water droplets on it…what a great effect!! I love watching the demos at the Ranger booth!!

  32. Your tag is wonderful! The grunged-up ribbon was the perfect accent, and when I read that you melted it with a heat gun after fraying it, I declared you a GENIOUS!

  33. Fabulous tag Sherry, I just love anything Halloween!!

  34. This is soooo super cute, Sherry! LOVE it! Hope you are doing well! 🙂

  35. Sherry, your tag is just awesome. I love all those bats!!
My only story — my puppy and my 4 yr old lab are racing (and I mean racing) around my family room. The couches sit out in the middle of the floor and they are running all around them – both barking their heads off and messing up every rug in the place. Sheesh!

  36. Great, great tag! I always tell myself that I’m going to make Halloween cards this year, but never seem to. It’s one of my favorite holidays and the projects around that time are always so inspiring. Guess I just need a kick in the pants to get going. Your tag has certainly motivated me. It’s just Grrreat!

  37. COOL!! Love it!! So sparkly..just like you!

  38. Great tag! As for the story…my sister just moved 3,000 miles away today. Nothing would make me happier than some rubbernecker bucks so that I can go into retail therapy!

  39. I love your tag! I am all about Halloween (my favorite scraping holiday) and would love to case your tag. Better yet I would love to see you make a tuturial about it.
