Good afternoon!  Yes, I’m running a little behind this morning.  Miss Ellie needed to go to the vet this morning for her annual check up.  She was happy to go for a car ride, but none too happy with me when we arrived at the vets’ office.  I don’t think she’ll come running the next time I shout “car ride – let’s go.”

When I got back from my “little errand,” I checked out the Ways to Use it Challenge on Splitcoast.  I’ve tried to get to the challenges all week, and I did get to the Sketch, but today’s was just perfect.  The challenge today is to use a charm on your project.  A few years ago I bought tons of those little dollar charm bracelets at the flea market and tore them all apart.  I have a stash of charms.  However, all the new ones that I just purchased at Tuesday Morning, I can’t find.  CRS?  Maybe!  Unorganized?  Maybe!  Just really forgetful?  You bet!  Anyhoo, here’s my card today.

I colored the image with Copic Markers and then cut the panels for the image with my square Nestabilities.  I sanded the edges of all the background paper and added dots with a white opaque pen.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Good morning and Happy Wednesday!  Smiley from millan.net Can you believe that it’s Wednesday already?  I know I can’t, but then again, I’m still chasing myself around the house! Smiley from millan.net

Today is the Rubbernecker Blog Challenge.  You can find more deets on the Rubbernecker Stamps Blog.  The challenge this week is to use Grunge Board or Chip Board.  I chose to work with Grunge Board and had a great time getting my fingers all inky!  Actually, this isn’t even a card, but a 5.5 x 5.5 panel that I’m hoping to find a frame for.  Better yet, it may become the focal point on another project.  Who knows where this will end up!  All of a sudden I can see a large canvas with many different project boards on it – .

Grunge Heart Panel

The heart was inked with Fired Brick and then highlighted with Aged Mahogany.  The keyhole and key were first painted with Scattered Straw Distress Crackle Paint and then when it was dry, inked with Peeled Paint.  To add more dimension to these pieces, they were lightly dabbed with a Gold Paint Dabber and then highlighted with Vintage Photo.

The background paper is a 5.5 x 5.5 piece of Very Vanilla that was distressed by adding layers of color and drying in between each layer with an iron.  There is a light spray of Vintage Photo/Pearl Pearlized Distress Mist that was diluted with more water and ironed to dry.  I wanted this background to look like an old piece of paper that had been folded and refolded for years.  The ribbon was melted with a candle lighter.  The final project is mounted on a 5.5 x 5.5 square of cardboard.

Good morning!  Smiley from millan.net How many of you watched Dancing with the Stars last night?  It’s one of my favorite shows and I sat glued to the television the whole two hours.  Oh my badness, I laughed so hard at Cloris Leachman that I had tears rolling down my face.  Smiley from millan.net for the new television season, especially when it’s live!

As you know it’s Tuesday and of course, that means it’s Treasure Hunt Tuesday at Rubbernecker Smiley from millan.net.  Hop on over to the Rubbernecker Stamps Blog so you don’t miss those Design Team Members who are offering up Rubbernecker Bucks today.  You’ll also find your first link in today’s treasure hunt!

My card today is a spin on one of the demonstrations we do at shows.  If you’ve visited the Rubbernecker booth at any of the stamp shows, I’m sure you’ll recognize this technique!  However, instead of using a tag like at the demos, I used a 5.5 x 4.25 piece of white cardstock.

Thanksgiving Leaves

To make the background, I swiped Tea Dye, Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade and Vintage Photo Distress Ink down the center of my Ranger Craft Sheet.  I misted the inks with water until I had large beads of water and the colors started to mix.  The white cardstock was laid down on the ink, pressed in and then picked straight up.  The paper was then dried using an iron set to highest setting with no steam.  The process of picking up color and drying in between was continued until I had the desired color and effect I wanted for the background.  The background was then lightly misted with Scattered Straw/Gold Pearlized Distress Mist.

To stamp the leaves, I used a piece of Cut-N-Dry Stamp Pad Felt and made my own stamp pad.  I stamped the leaf image on the felt, then added Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Shabby Shutters reinker over the image to create my pad.  Once the pad was inked, I inked my stamp from the created pad, and stamped the leaves on the background.  I wanted a bit more color from the leaves, so I stamped over them with embossing ink and then embossed with UTEE.

The sentiment was generated on the computer.  Let me suggest to you however that if you decide you want color on your cardstock, add it BEFORE you print the sentiment.  Just the teeniest bit of water can make that ink run – yep, it surely can!

Happy Monday!  Yes, my power is back and I’m enjoying my coffee sitting on my own couch.  I did travel to Chicago over the weekend and worked the Rubber Stamp Expo in the Rubbernecker Booth.   I met some of my fellow SCS’ers who stopped by the booth, but alas we didn’t take that first picture.  Unreal I know!

Since I had to leave for Chicago the very minute my power was restored, I’m playing catch up this week.  I missed the release of Anna’s new sets from Whipper Snapper Designs last Monday, so that was my first order of business today.

Hay Chick

The images were colored with Copic Markers and the edges were sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  The background paper, Memory Box Homespun Collection, was sewn to the card front after the edges were sponged in Vintage Photo.

Have a great day!

Still no power and no stamping here!  I’ve been hopping between my house and Kate’s all week for meals, sleep and laundry.  I leave this afternoon for Chicago, so if you happen to be attending the Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo at the DuPage Expo Center, please stop by the Rubbernecker Booth and say Hi!  I’ll be there working along side Shelly a/k/a Papermoon and Meg a/k/a Waxyo!

Hopefully by the time I get home from Chicago I’ll have power, a stocked fridge and plenty of light to stamp by.    I was sitting in the semi-dark yesterday afternoon wondering what it would be like if we didn’t have all the little gadgets and luxuries that we have today.  What if we were back in the 1800 or 1900’s and lived in small towns or on farms that didn’t have indoor plumbing and lights.  There wouldn’t be computers, or cell phones, or email.  People would be outside enjoying nature, visiting with neighbors and lending that helping hand to someone in need!  This week has not been that bad.  I’ve visited with my neighbors more, have helped those that needed it and have relaxed more than I have in months.

Yes, I’ve been a bit inconvenienced and haven’t been able to meet my commitments.  I’ve stressed about it, made what phone calls I deemed appropriate, and then worried a little more.  But in reality, I haven’t had it nearly as bad as some of my neighbors.  To be quite honest, I’ve enjoyed the slower pace and camaraderie that this storm has brought to our neighborhood.  When the power comes back on, my neighbors, and I included, will once again turn to the computers, Internet, cable television, etc., to entertain us.  It’s actually very sad that it takes a storm of this magnitude in order to visit with your neighbors.

There are also people like my daughter, Kate, and her boyfriend.  They have opened their home to any family member or friend that needs to take a hot shower, a place to sleep for the night, or even a home-cooked meal.  Will spent a day with me cleaning up the yard and removing debris.  Without his help, I would have only gotten about a third of the clean up done on Monday.

I suppose my inner reflection is over and I’ve babbled on enough.  I hope you have a great day!
