Happy Saturday!  What a week it’s been.  For the last few days I’ve had a little stomach bug or something that has kept me on the couch for most of the day.  I woke up this morning feeling better, but now I’ve got a little congestion going on.  Oh well . . . life in the fast lane!

What do you think of my new banner?  I made it myself with a kit I downloaded from Shabby Miss Jenn Designs.  I found out the hard way that their blog banner kits won’t work with WordPress blogs.  At least I never found a way.  In my pursuit to have a new banner, I decided to go for the full kit of paper and doodads.  I think I’m gonna like having all this paper at the push of a print button.

One day last week, when I was talking about vintage ornaments, I promised pics of mine.  Well, I finally got them made.

Wreath 2008

The plain wreath was given to me years ago and all the ornaments on it are those from my grandparents’ house.  There are few from my parents, those that broke and I just couldn’t get rid of them.  The broken or cracked side is turned toward the wreath so I can still enjoy the colors and designs.

Tree 2008

This little tree holds all the ornaments from my parents’ house.  Mom has started decorating in a different way, and I was lucky enough to get all their old ornaments.

I do have a bigger tree up.  It is the family tree and is decorated with ornaments that we have collected since 1978 when Lance and I first got married.  Mallory decorates this one for me every year – actually it is the only decoration she will mess with.  I think she just likes to hang her own ornaments in prominent positions.

While I was sitting here on the couch the other day, the dogs started going nuts.  I looked over and they were into a game of tug-o-war with the stuffed squirrel.  You see – they really do hate squirrels and if one is spotted through the door or window, they bark until there is no tomorrow.  Let’s not even talk about trying to walk them.  At the first squirrel sitting, the legs tremble, ears perk up and I find myself being dragged down the road.

Syd & Ellie

Guess who won?  Miss Ellie of course!

Ellie

Actually, Syd saw me with the camera and came over to investigate what the hell I was doing!  She was proudly sitting on my lap when the picture of Ellie was taken.  I guess Syd thought she had actually won because she was taunting Ellie a tiny bit . . . the fight for my lap was on!

I hope you have a great weekend!

  2. Glad you are feeling better!!
What a wonderful wreath and tree of family memories!!
My MIL saved all the wooden ornaments that she had for my DH’s tree as a child. When my first was born, she gave them all to me. I have since added more wooden ornaments (along with nutcrackers….including some from Germany that my cousin sent me while living there at my son’s first Christmas!)…..This year, that tree got moved up onto a card table so that my pooch wouldn’t have a hay day with new objects to chew!!

  3. Hey Sherry ~~~ Thanks for finally posting the antique ornaments!!!! I really do enjoy viewing these types of balls [[ok look, I’m trying to behave hehehee]] that have such delicate detail and warmth.
Better make sure those crazy dogs don’t crack any while chasing Mr. Squirrel 🙂 Not to worry, you’re certainly not alone at being dragged down the road by your dogs. Our Boston Terrier is like a bull being released from it’s shoot in a Rodeo Show….I place my hand on the door handle to SLOWLY open the door, once we’re all leashed-up and ready to go, and he proceeds to *BASH* through the door and make this unGodly noise that sounds like a chicken clucking in a very LOUD volume! LOL [[OOOps, maybe we’ve been watching too much of Anna’s blog lately and all her CHICKEN NEWS!!!]]

Great post and your new banner is **SMOKIN’** HOT** !!!!!!!!!! Love the old buttons on the card-backing ~ reminds me of Tim’s stuff =)

  4. Thanks for sharing the pictures of the ornaments – I recognize some of them from our tree when I was young! The pictures of your dogs are cute, too!

  5. I love your new banner, Sherry. Congratulations on doing such a wonderful job with your new banner package. I have no clue what that means actually but assume it has to do with all the darling images along with your font and background.

Those two dogs are darling with that poor little squirrel. The wreath and tree with the vintage ornaments are both wonderful. I love old ornaments.

  6. Love your banner Sherry! Love the dog pics too. They are adorable!

  7. TFS. I love old things too, especially those from family. I see quite a few ornaments identical to the ones on my parents’ trees. The wreath is beautiful and love your banner too! Yes, I have green eyes.

  8. Those dogs are so funny with that squirrel. I sure know what you mean about the fight for mom’s lap. I get that with my cats on a daily basis. Love your wreath and trees.

  9. What a super cool new banner, Sherry….sooo when are you going to give me lesson on how to do that??? Love your gorgeous ornaments, too…the wreath and tree look so beautiful and festive!!! Sorry you have been sick….hope you bounce back soon and become your old bad self again!!!

  10. Hi, Sherry! I hope you’re feeling better now. I love your vintage ornaments–so beautiful what you’ve done with them. I have many vintage ornaments, too. A lot of them look very similar to some of yours. I hate to admit this — we call them vintage, but they’re ornaments that were on our tree when I was a kid. I’m hoping they were old then. . . Yup, I’ll bet they were, ‘cuz, you know, I’m just a spring chicken!

  11. OMG! I love your wreath Sherry, it’s gorgeous with the vintage Christmas ornaments, great way to use them! I wish I had more of the ornaments I remember when I was a kiddo!

Your dogs are adorable, what a fun looking pair, I bet they keep you on your toes!

I need a new banner too, I think I need to hire you girl or give me lessons!!!
