Good Tuesday morning!  Well at least it’s still morning here.  I’ve gotten into the habit of sleeping later than normal and then when I get up half the morning is gone.  Then I must have that pot of coffee, check email, blah blah blah, until I even start moving.    Anyhoo, enough of the morning routine babble.  (The point . . . it may be afternoon when I get this post finished)

I was working in the studio late last night finishing up a few projects, when I had an idea for a Valentine card.  I must admit that the card isn’t exactly as I had envisioned, but the premise is still there.

I started with the Stamp Oasis 3 Flower Heart image.  It was stamped at watercolor paper, embossed with Queen’s Gold EP and water colored with distress reinkers.  I had every intention of cutting the heart out with Spellbinders Petite Oval Nestabilities, but someone’s fat finger touched the edge with red ink.  So, the heart was cut out.

SO 3 Rose Heart

For the background, I started with a piece of pink cardstock, and using one of my new Tim Holtz masks, I sponging on Worn Lipstick and Aged Mahogany Distress Inks.  The top band was die cut with Spellbinders Petite Deckled Scalloped Border and sponged with Red Mahogany before taking it out of the die.  I had cut the paper wider than needed, so I scored it at 1″, leaving an edge that I could fold over and layer behind the flourished background.

  • Stamps: Stamp Oasis Heart Collection – 3 Flower Heart SKU:474 SO from Rubbernecker Stamp Company
  • Paper: Canson Watercolor; SU Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red
  • Ink: Ranger Distress Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Worn Lipstick, Aged Mahogany, Shabby Shutters and Distress Embossing
  • Accessories: Spellbinders Petite Classic and Scalloped Oval Nestabilities and Petite Deckled Scalloped Border; Tim Holtz idea-ology Flourish Mask; Tsukineko Sponge Daubers; Ranger Queen’s Gold EP; Tonic Tim Holtz Piercing Tool; Venture Foam Tape; Ribbon

Well, I’m heading into the studio to do some picking up, putting away . . . the place is a mess!  I hope you have a great day.
