Good Tuesday afternoon! I’m still working on my coffee, trying to fight off a nap so I can sleep tonight. How many of you have ever had a flu shot? Yesterday was my first. I let my doctor talk me into getting one and lord have mercy . . .
 it will be my last! I’m not sick yet (which is my biggest fear) but my arm hurts like hell. Can you imagine trying to sleep last night, one side of your nose that you are unable to breathe through and when you roll over to the side that will let you breathe, your arm hurts! MERCY!!! I’ll never let them talk me into another, that’s for damn sure. I’ve been just fine all these many years without ever having one and I’m sure I’ll be okay in the future.
Speaking of the future, I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun I’m having right now. I am in my seventh heaven playing with images that I purchased some time ago and never had the time to put ink on. Not only that, but I’m also loving that I am able to get back to my roots of stamping and having fun with it. Thank goodness vintage and shabby chic are on their way back . . . because I’m having an absolute ball!!!
Today’s card is one that I actually have made for the Color Challenge on Splitcoaststampers. It has been so very, very long since I’ve been able to participate in one the Splitcoast Challenges or even wanted to. I’ve been thinking about them for a few weeks now and decided today was the day. Of course, it didn’t hurt that today’s colors I absolutely love . . . . pink, brown and white. They actually said Pretty in Pink, Soft Suede and Whisper White. Since I don’t have ALL of these colors any longer, I decided to compromise and Neenah white and my pink is from SEI.
For the image background, I used the Wrinkle Free Distress technique with the colors Soft Suede and pink. I added some Gold Perfect Pearls to the water before I misted the ink to give it some shimmer. Once the image was stamped on the background, the flower was water colored with pinks and yellows. The background received a light blue color wash. I used Spellbinders Small and Large Deckled Rectangles to make the frame and the Fleur de Lis Borderabilities. I found some old lace in my stash and to age it, I stamped some brown ink on my craft sheet, misted it with water and ran the lace through it . . . the lace isn’t as bright now.

Great card! I hate getting a flu shot. I usually take plenty of Tylenol after the shot because my arm hurts, too.
Have never gotten the flu shot…have never had my kids get them either…and guess what? Have never gotten the flu (Knocking on my head) while everyone else did!!
This is just STUNNING!! This is a look that I admire and like but is soooo out of my realm of thinking/creating (wellllll, at this point of my learning anyways!)….I’m thinking that I need some of those borders now….sigh……
Ahhhhhhhhh, Sherry……it is just so sweet! Love all the ‘vintage’ you have going on with it and darned if you don’t do those ‘worn’ edges so perfectly! I haven’t done vintage in a long time, I may have to dabble with it again sometime soon. Thanks for all of your wonderful inspiration.

I have been hospitalized with influenza, so the pain in your arm (if the shot actually works lol) will surely beat getting sick. Did you get the swine flu shot? Sherry, I’m an ole lady and I’ve had many flu shots. I learned a trick….as soon as you get the shot…start moving your arm up and down, round and round….You’ll look goofy, but it will keep your muscle from figuring out that you had the shot. (very technical speak here…..) I promise you it will work. And really, getting a flu shot is a smart thing to do. And the swine flu will be the next one to come along…so, back you need to go. I don’t want you getting sick and not being able to create beautiful cards…so listen to his ole gal…..the shot won’t kill you….but the flu might and then I would be very sad! Wishing you a quick recovery!

Sorry to hear that the flu shot made your arm hurt. I have to get one every year cause of my asthma, but it never made my arm hurt and I never got sick from it either. Some people actually get the flu from getting the flu shot. You really should get a flu shot every year, especially as we get older we are more susceptible to getting sick.

I always get my shot, regardless of how much it hurts ——- the flu is by far worse. My hat’s off to those of you who never get the flu. Thank God for that!!!! Anywhoooo on to Sherry’s card. STUNNING!!!! It is nice to hear you so upbeat and happy about stamping! You go girl!

You maybe should be glad it’s hurting. I got a flu shot yesterday and the nurse kept asking “Doesn’t it HURT?” and I kept saying “no”.
I found out that if it is given into the MUSCLE, like it should be, it HURTS.
Last year’s shot gave me a sore arm for two days. This year’s shot = nothing. Which means it wasn’t given correctly and will not protect me.
