Happy Tuesday! I hope y’all had a good weekend. I’m actually a little confused on my days and wished one of my friends a happy birthday when her birthday isn’t for a few days. Oh well, it’s a little early is all! I’ve also had to pull my capris out of the closet . . . It’s just a tad too chilly for shorts. I refuse to put jeans on because I know I’ll be back in my shorts next week (it only needs to be about 68° and I’m good). My phone just said it was 58° here.
I have a couple of projects setting on my desk waiting for me to decide exactly what I’m going to do with them. One of them is a cigar box that I’ve decided to keep store-bought cards in. Sometimes when out and I see a card that literally tickles my funny bone, I go ahead and purchase it to have for future reference. I’m still working on trying to fill in the engraving and I also need to decide on paper. I’m in trouble because a 12” piece of designer paper is about 2” too small. I might need to break into the wallpaper books I picked up at that yard sale.
The card that I was working on and couldn’t decide what to do with is my project for today. There’s a challenge in the Crafty Secrets’ Forum on Splitcoaststampers, to use a handmade embellishment. This is exactly what this card needed and I just had to finish it and take part in the challenge!
The image was water colored with Tombow Markers and matted on Spellbinders Classic and Scalloped Circles. I had already sewn the lace to the card, and decided to use the same lace for my embellishment. I basted along the length of the lace, pulled the thread tight and then tied it off in a circle. The button was threaded down through the back of the card and tied tight to keep it down. All the paper was sponged with Old Paper Distress Ink.

OMG!! You are totally freaking me out! Talk about being on the same wavelength. I had no idea there was any kind of Crafty Secrets challenge, let alone what it was. Can you guess what I worked on last night??? My FIRST EVER Crafty Secrets card and I made a lace flower for it too!!! That is just way too coincidental!!! By the way, yours is beautiful….my favorite colors!!!
Great lace embellishment. I have so much old lace and trim and buttons left over from my sewing days. I love to try to use in on my cards now.

Very pretty Sherry- these colors are so perfect fro this card! I have to dig out some of the old lace I have hidden in my sewing box and let them see the light of day! Thanks for the inspiration.

I totally adore this card Sherry, as it took me back to my childhood seeing that precious face on your creation. I grew up with the *real* figurines that have these adorable faces via your stamped “Vintage Christmas”……I believe they are called, “Snow Babies”. My Mom still has them lined against the front window of our cottage up North, with the Snow Babies on sleds, skies, sitting in a sleigh, all bundled up in their fur trimmed snow suits and boots 🙂 The thing that I always remember about these Snow Babies, is the rough-crusty texture these figurines had all over them. When I was younger it reminded me of crystal sugar, but now in my stamping years, it totally reminds me of one of my favorite embellishments that you and Anna use … “Vintage Glass Glitter” from the Art Institute 🙂
Thanks for taking me back a few years and allowing me to remember how I use to play with them – Very Carefully HA! – then dust them every week and put them back in the window. 🙂 A lovely Blast From My Past 😉
