! Where is this week going? Okay so maybe I don’t remember what I did during the first few days of the week . . .
Before I get started on my project for today, let me answer a few questions about the products I use. I get my May Arts Ribbon from Sharon Johnson’s store, Stamp Simply Ribbon. She told me last night if she doesn’t stock what you are looking for, she will special order! All the Ranger product I use, including both T!m and Wendy’s stamps, can be found at eclectic Paperie. Joy and Daisy are fabulous and so very helpful. Everything is stocked and they have a quick turn around time.
Now I have a question for you! Paper? What do you use? I have both SU and Prism and know that I won’t be purchasing any more SU. That leaves the Prism which I find matches BasicGrey DP fabulously, but it is rather flimsy for a card base. If you use Prism, where do you purchase it? I’m seriously thinking of switching over to Papertrey. If you use the paper from Papertrey what do you think about it?
Now that all that is over with, questions answered and if I forgot any that you’ve asked, please let me know.  I try to answer each individual email you send, but sometimes it’s not always possible to get to them as quickly as I would like and then I forget to answer.
Now! How many of you love the movie Hook? It’s one of my favorites! You know how there are certain scenes in movies that you always think of. Like in the Color Purple, I will sit and watch the entire movie just to see Shug Avery walk her stuff down the road to the church, singing God’s Trying to Tell you Something. I LOVE that scene! In Hook, it’s the boo box! When Glenn Close is placed in the boo box and the look on her face . . . well it just slays me every time! So, since it’s that time of the year for Halloween (which is one of my faves to decorate for), I’ve made a Boo Box!
I bought a candle not too long ago that was in this fabulously sturdy box and the lid slides down inside. I kept the box thinking it would come in handy at some time or another. While I was making Halloween cards, and thinking about the girls, I decided that treat boxes might be in order. It will be so easy to slide some the girls fave chocolate in this box!
I had one sheet of Lollipop Lizzy DP and used that covered the box. All the edges were sponged with Black Soot Distress Ink. I circled the box with a purple band and tied some ribbon. I love watching ribbon melt, and used my candle lighter to melt the ribbon to give it a spookier look. The boo label was die cut/embossed using Spellbinders oval nestabilities. Since the paper had little skulls on it, I found a small grunge board skull, painted it white and then covered it with Rock Candy stickles. Way too much fun!

I am a huge fan of everything Papertrey. There paper is the best available, in my opinion. It is a bit heavier than Stampinup paper. Papertrey also has ribbon, buttons, and ink to match. I have converted all my friends to Papertrey paper. I love your blog!!
Thinking of Papertrey paper (or Gina K….LOVE the pure luxury white 120# for coloring with copics….NOTHING is better…NO bleeding on the other side)

I love PTI cardstock as you already know and they have matching ink, buttons and ribbon!!
I use the Neenah classic crest solar white when using Copics or pure luxury cardstock 120 lb brilliant white. Also they are heavy enough to use as the card base.
I will use PTI white cs as a card base and solar white for the image.

They come in packs of 24 or 12 with envys.
they are nice and sturdy and fast.

I have some PTI cardstock and really like it but its sometimes a little thick for die cutting. I have just recently started using Gina K Designs cardstock. There are limited colors right now but it looks like she is adding more each month. I just got the Moonlit Fog and I love the color. It matches French Flea Market – My Mind’s Eye paper perfectly. HTH!!
Papertray ink paper is as good as any I have found. It is comparable to Stampin up.
Great box! I think PTI paper is awesome! It’s so nice and thick. (Too thick to punch with some punches, though.) Lots of pretty colors with many things to match. I don’t have a lot of the colors yet, but I would love them all.

I plan to still use SU cs, but I also use some Prism. I love the texture and the wide range of colors, although I do agree it’s a little thin for card bases…but I’ve kind of gotten used to it over the last year. Taylored Expressions has about 50 colors of Prism so far and will be expanding that in the near future.
Wow, great project. I love to reuse things like that. They can come in so handy. Thanks for sharing. As for the paper is use for a card base, I just get cardstock from Wal Mart of Office Depot. Then I save the money for all the embellishing.
This is super cute, Sherry! I love how the button eyes are two different sizes. Hmmmmm… paper? Maybe I should get on over to PTI and see how many colors they have now. I’m still thinking and looking around, too. Sometimes thick and sturdy is best, but other times I’d rather have a lighter weight — like Memory Box — when I want to do lots of layering. Love Bazzill textured. So many choices!
Hello, Sherry. I had used Neenah Solar White because of Ellen Hutson. Now I lOVE Gina K’s paper. The Pure Luxury is fabulous for Copic coloring. She is adding colors…much the same way as Paper Trey did. Give her products a try. You won’t be sorry. If you don’t want to place an order, email me with your address. PaperTrey is the best cardstock that I have found….now lets see I have shopped in Maine, Mass, S. Carolina, California oh yeah and New York…..PT rocks and it works great in my cricut and cuttlebug for nestabilities like a dream. I will admit some punches aren’t cut out for 100# weight paper but I don’t think any punch is made for that….
Oh you can’t go wrong with Gina K’s Paper!!! Her 120 lb is great to color on and it makes a wonderful 1 layer card. Also love the soft sand colored paper she sells – works great. I also like Flourishes paper but Gina K’s is awesome. I don’t know about PaperTrey as I don’t shop there anymore.

Wow….you have quite a few responses already….but, I’ll go ahead and give you my opinion, for whatever it is worth…for my cardbase, I like a sturdy cardstock….I LOVE PTI papers, I have almost every color…and I almost always use them for my cards. I think their prices are great for the quality of the cardstock. I bought the big package of ‘select white’…I think it has a 100 sheets in it and it works very well with copic markers too….for almost all of the other colors I buy the 50 sheet packs. I will say that I love Gina K’s Pure Luxury Cardstock also…the 120# weight is very sturdy and is wonderful for using with Copics when you don’t want the color to show through to the back. I only have a few selections of Gina K’s paper, but what I do have, I enjoy very much. I think you will be very happy with PTI or Gina K…but for a white cardbase, I don’t think you can get a better quality for the price than PTI select white.
And by the way….that little Halloween box is super cute….you have so much patience for crafting those type of things….it takes me days to make a card and I’d say ‘years’ to make projects such as boxes….Love everything you do!

Hi Sherry, Usually I am a “lurker” for your blog and I love the way you make your cards but this time I just had to put in my “two cents”. PTI cardstock is fabulous. I have all of her colors in the cs, ink, ribbon, etc. Her inks are also great! I love everything that matches! Also Gina K. cardstock is wonderful but her colors are more limited. I am gradually switching from SU to PTI. The ink pads from PTI holds us much better than SU. I am not a demonstrator and do not sell any items. I just make cards and teach at my LSS. Plus the shipping time from PTI and Gina K can’t be beat!
Sherry, I like PTI cardstock, but have discovered that Martha Stewart border punches don’t work well with it. I’m sure little Ms MS has already gotten rid of the manufacturer…haha! The Stampers Select White is the best base paper. and it works great with a wide variety of ink, especially Tuxedo Black. Hope this helps you make a decision on future paper purchases. Enjoy a fabulous weekend doing fun stuff, and no it doesn’t include laundry!
It looks like I am going to have to do some shopping–LOL! So many people have replied and seem to love PTI and Gina K, personally I have never tried either one. I use WorldWin, Prism, Neenah, SU and another paper I have used a lot of is from The Paper Company. The Paper Company is a lighter weight so you wouldn’t want to use it for a card base but it works great for layering and die cutting.
I LOVE your BOO Box!! And I LOVE the movie Hook too–one of my favorites! Great DP and I really like the grunge board skull and the button for the eyes–Fabulous!!!
Ok for my personal opinion on the paper situation ~~~~ I have two favs, the first being PTI’s white and cream CS. It’s very smooth and silky and allows you to obtain a crisp stamped image.
The second brand of CS I turn to on a very regular basis is GinaK’s “”Luxery Pure White”” CS, which is available in 80 lb. and 120 lb. paper. The BEST thing about Gina’s line is that you can colour with your Copics ’til the cows come home and you won’t bleed through the back of the paper! For me, that is a major selling point, but it’s also top quality and reasonably priced.
Ohhh before I forget, I should also tell you that “All That Scraps” has their own line of white cardstock as well as a Vintage Cream (I think?), and it’s very cost effective and works will with the ~*Loves Of My Life*~ …. my Copic Sketchers 🙂

I am curious to know why you don’t like SU Cardstock. They have several different whites and I use them all. I am sure there is better CS than SU – I haven’t tried any other kind.
PTI is the best!!! Makes great card bases. Not all punches will work on it though like some of the others have said. Stamps stamp clear and detailed and are so versatile. And it’s so nice because everything matches or coordinates. Everything PTI is the greatest!!! You won’t be disappointed.
