Happy Monday!  I can’t believe it, but all my chores are finally done.  The house is decorated for Christmas, the bills are paid, the doctor visits are almost over and now I need to get busy in the studio.  Not much time to do so much in.  You see I’m having hand surgery on the 18th and I know that I need to have some special projects done before then because . . . well, what if I can’t use my left hand for awhile?  Ya know what I mean?

I’m still working on T!m’s Smiley from millan.net 12  Tags of Christmas, when I should probably be doing other things, but I just can’t help myself.  I’m also very behind  . . .  I sure hope I get to do them all!  Today, I have Tag 4.  Here’s T!m’s Smiley from millan.net Tag 4 and my version below.

Tag4

I added some ribbon and a few Spellbinders™ to see if I could incorporate them on a tag.  Yes, I can!  Using the Ranger Gold Paint Dabber, I went around the edges of the tag and the oval sentiment.  While the border was still in the die, I stenciled with the gold paint.  Now that was just too cool . . . I may be doing that a little more in the future!  One other touch I almost forgot about . . . I spritzed all the paper with Worn Lipstick/Gold Pearlized Distress Mist.  I think it took some of the other colors out of the tag and if I had to do it over, I don’t know that I would.  But hey you never know until it’s done.

  • Stamps:  Tim Holtz CollectionMini Holidays from Stampers Anonymous
  • Paper:  Manila Shipping Tag
  • Ink:  Ranger Archival Jet Black, and Broken China, Peeled Paint, Aged Mahogany and Worn Lipstick Distress

That’s all for now folks!  I hope you’ve had a good day and thanks for joining me on the BAD Side for a few minutes.

  9. Sherry you are doing great on your tags! I am pulling for you to get all 12 done and then win the big super grandiose prize! Since I am doing all this pulling for you (no easy task here, I have a bad back you know) I thought maybe you can answer a question. I am just curious because I probably am the issue here, is there a technique to get those paint dabbers a dabbin’? I can’t seem to get the paint out the foammies on top. Have you had trouble or do you have ideas? Thanks for your help!

  10. Hi Sherry-love your versions of Tim’s tags. I think I am icicle making challenged-can I come over sometime for a lesson?

  13. I sure hope that you have a speedy recovery with your hand surgery Sherry. This tag is gorgeous. I’ll call it distressed in a feminine way. I sure hope that you get all 12 tags done too, because I am so enjoying your take on Tim tags. Coming here is like getting a little Christmas gift everyday with your art. TFS!!! 🙂

  18. On lady these tags are treasures, love the little trinket pin on the top, not sure I’m understanding how you did the stencil, have to reread that one. And shhhhhhh but I think I like yours better than Tims! Sorry about the hand surgery, hope it heals real fast but you are one inventive person so I’m sure you’ll figure out how to make that right hand do double duty.
