Happy Monday!  Are you snow bound, I am Smiley from millan.net and we are expecting more.  Well, I shouldn’t say we are actually snow bound because I probably could make it out to the main roads. The question is, do I really want to . . .Smiley from millan.net  So I’ll stay inside, sipping on my coffee (hmmmmm Baileys?) and stay where it’s warm.

I got this wild hair to finish up a project I started around Christmas.  I meant for it to be a Christmas present but time got away and it just sat on the shelf.  For some reason today I felt compelled to finish it Smiley from millan.net

I had this idea to make a flower out of some new May Arts Ribbon, but the style of flower called for wired ribbon.  I ended up stitching a small seam down one side, ran some craft wire through it, and pulled it all together to make the flower.  The center is an old button I had in my stash.

I took on the ladies from the Graphic 45 Fashionista collection and put it in a memory frame for some added embellishment.    The back layer on the top was made with Spellbinders™ Labels One.  I know it’s hard to tell in the photos, but I added some feet on the bottom of the box with black wood beads from an old necklace.

Another vintage button from my stash on the inside.

I haven’t decided who is going to get the box, but my youngest is definitely a creature of fashion.  She also told me recently that I never make anything for her.

Thanks for stopping by today and remember  . . .  life is short, enjoy the adventures of the day!

  1. This is a perfect example as to why I am still a padawon and you are a master. My brain cannot combine patterns like this and make it look stunning

  2. I’d be happy to take that box off your hands if you’re stumped about who to give it to…:)

  3. Hi Sherry –

What a marvelous box, I love it! I don’t know how you do it. I love paper, so I am always picking up some here and there if it catches my eye. But when it comes time to mix the prints together I can never seem to make it work. I usually end up using a solid cardstock with the print as accents here and there. Guess I just have to play more – LOL!
By the way, the coaster you use for your boxes, how big are they? I’m asking cause I just found about 8 of them I got a few years ago from “Outback Steakhouse” from one of the waitresses. Thought I’d try making the box, just was not sure what size you used.

    Thanks

  11. Beautiful box Sherry. Lucky us that you decided to finish the box. How ingenious of you to add your own wire into the ribbon, I would have never thought to do that. I love the all over look of the box, with all the pretty embellishments, and whomever you decide to give it too will absolutely enjoy it, and rightly so. TFS!!! 🙂

  12. Sherry, I have several pages of the Fashionista papers and you have provided some terrific ideas using the die cuts, such as putting them into a small frame. Now all I need to do is find a place that sells those little frames 🙂 Beautiful job, but then you never fail to inspire your readers with your projects, especially the altered art pieces. If your daughter turns you down, I’ll send my address in Virginia 🙂
