Good morning!  I hope y’all had a good weekend.  Man our weather here was gorgeous, 70’s, and the sun was shining!  I almost wore shorts to our bow making class . . . put on jeans instead and wished in the long run that I had worn shorts.  I’m trying to get myself acclimated to the cooler weather I know is coming our way.

I got just a few photos from our class and wish that I had gotten more from the nursery/florist where we were.  It’s such a magical splendor during the holiday season.   There are trees, trees and more trees, each theme decorated and so gorgeous to look at.  This one I shot standing at the back of the store from the classroom area.

These are the bows that mom was working on . . . hers turned out the best actually.  Mine came in a close second and then we have Carrie.

Mine came in a close second and then we have Carrie, who was getting much needed personal instruction.

and then Carrie gets more instructions.

After class, we walked and shopped the nursery some more.  We made it back to mom’s in time to see the end of the NASCAR race  . . . much to our dismay I might add . . . there might be a new champion one of these years.

I did get a little crafting done over the weekend, but that project will have to wait until tomorrow before you can see it.  I’m still debating on whether it is done or not!

In the meantime, thanks for stopping by and remember . . . . life is short, make the most of the adventures that come your way!

  1. Looks like a lovely afternoon- what a fun thing to do to get in the spirit!

  2. I can not do bows, as I am all thumbs right now. It sounds/looks like you had a great class and fun with many people. Good way to get into the holiday spirit.

  3. Sherry…looks like you had a great time making the bows and at a delightful place.
Husband and I are NOT very happy that JJ won the championship AGAIN. Maybe one of these days….

  4. Love your bows and I totally know how Carrie feels. LOL! I may be a wiz when it comes to crafts and techniques, but bows are alien to me. The more I try, the faster I forget.

  5. So glad you enjoyed your bow making class (Gorgeous bows BTW) but to put photos of folk in sleeveless tops and talking about shorts….Aarrggghhh…it’s forcasting snow and freezing drizzle here. D’oh! Snow boots and mittens today! Enjoy the nice weather while you can!
    Thanks for sharing! :o)

  6. How is it that I live in Southern California and FROZE my rear off this weekend while you are in short sleeves and wishing you had worn shorts?!! Sumthin’ ain’t right!!
Where are the step by step instructions on how to make a bow? Oh wait!! I’m ribbon challenged. I need the “extra” help along with Carrie!!

  7. OMG, I was so confused and these pictures really show the justice. My first okay, my second bow, ughhhh, and my third bow, well needless to say, it is still unassembled in its bag. My mom and sister got all the crafty genes, I am now sure what I received while in that line. But it was a fun afternoon.

  8. Hi, I gotta go with Sandy….the more I learn the more I forget. I become all thumbs…no toes, I might be able to pull something off if I were all thumbs. all toes…no way! The photos are beautiful and the girls look like a good time was to be had by all. 70….we had 35 and snow, more to come. Snow in California…way too early for that!

  9. I learned how to make these bows when I left school in my first job as a trainee florist. I loved it. Once you get the hang it’s like riding a bike.
You know what they say, practice makes perfect though these bows look pretty good to me, “mom” is obviously a natural.
I’m glad you’re enjoying lovely weather Sherry. Our forecast is for icy cold winds and we’ve to expect 6 inches of snow by the middle or end of this week in Scotland. Snow in California, I’ve never been to the states but I always though of California as hot and sunny… never thought of snow there, but it shows how much, or should I say little, I know!
We’ve been getting loads of rain and wind for a couple of weeks now, with the sun only peaking out briefly now and again. I’m not looking forward to snow again this year, after too much, and too long here last winter!

  10. Sherry, those bows are fun to make…I used to make them when I worked in a floral shop. and after Christmas no one wanted to see them or even teach how to make them.

I’ve made them for weddings and Christmas since then. I don’t mine doing them from time to time.

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
