Wow I can’t believe how fast the days are flying by!  It’s maybe 6:50 my time (3:50 out here), and I’m crashed in the room resting my aching feet and legs. Daisy and Starla have both headed for home; Daisy is dropping off the girls and will be back tomorrow.  It was such a thrill to finally met Starla!  We have known each other close to 6 years as online friends and this is the first time we ever got to meet in person!

A lot of fabulous things have happened over the last couple of days . . . .

Me Starla Daisy

We got to goof around a little!

I found out this morning that two of my projects for Spellbinders™ got picked up for publication (I don’t know when or where yet, but I’m excited nonetheless).  I’ve had to remove them from my blog, so if you see are looking for them and see a little box . . . that’s why.

I’ll also be working with some new ecofriendly products soon that I think you are gonna love.  Especially if you like my altered stuff!

What have I seen so far that tickles my fancy?

The new Graphic45 lines most definitely!

I am completely taken with their new embellishments, such as this door knob.

I also saw these stamps from Germany.  The company is LaBlanche and this is the first time these stamps have been available.  They’ve been in business for 10 years but have only been sold on UK and German home shopping networks.  They are very detailed and are mounted on foam blocks that have a hard plastic coating on both sides.

For me, these are those type of images that look good stamped in black or brown and then done with a light color wash.  I would think that some of the main images in them would also look good colored with Copics.

Once again the Viva Décor booth and their projects just knocked my socks off!

Look at the detail on this hat!

Another great treat for me was to finally meet Margarita Ybarra.   Damn she’s the cutest little thing!

So I think that’s all for today.  I’m heading out to find some good coffee and maybe something to eat!  I’ve also got tons of catalogs to browse through and make lists of product I think would be good for eclectic Paperie.  Be watching for some new stamps  . . . and all I can say . . . EXCITING!!!!

have been on my work desk for five days now!  What’s on your work desk?  It’s What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday ya know!

I hate to admit this, but since I made my last post and told you I was working on some more brown paper flowers . . . .they have stayed in the exact same spot on my desk as I last left them.

WOYWWJanuary26

I really had all intents and purposes of making one more project before I left for CHA, but alas . . . shopping, laundry, ironing, packing, blah blah blah, has taken precedence over the project.  I’ve been going non-stop for two days and hopefully after I drop all the pups off this morning for their grooming, that’s the last errand I will need to run.

So I’ve got to tell ya that I absolutely love these flowers!  This time around I used the soon to be released Spellbinders™ S5-050 Rose Creations die templates.  These were designed by Donna Salazar and were previewed here on her blog during the “To DIE For” Blog Frenzy.

SherryCheeverRosesJanuary26(1)

This time I die cut four sets of the dies using brown paper wrap.  Before I did any misting or anything else, I stamped the script background from Studio 490 Live and Make Art in Archival Jet Black Ink on all the different layers.  I worked with archival ink not simply because it’s my favorite black ink, but its also permanent and waterproof . . . I was going to be doing a lot of misting.

You can hardly tell that these started out as brown . . .  I misted them all first with a combination of Broken China, Gold Perfect Pearls and water (Distressed Pearlized/Shimmer Mist).  I then went back over with Dusty Concord, Gold Perfect Pears and water.  I believe these mists probably had more water than normal because I used what I had in the mini mister (maybe half full) and filled the mini mister with water before I started.

I wanted to make two different sized flowers, so the largest flower (lower left in the photo) has been assembled two layers of each size of die template.  I like the fullness of this flower and especially after it was all misted, dried and fluffed.  After they were dry assembled, I  misted the entire flower with water and Gold Perfect Pearls (you can see the shimmer on some of the smaller flowers) and scrunched the layers with my fingers as drying them.

Now the smaller flowers are made with using only one layer of  die cut material and I didn’t use the largest die cut.  You can see those two laying off to the side in the first desk photo.  I like the difference in these sizes of flowers and know they will be perfect on a project.  It’s just getting the time to get it done . . . sometime after CHA I’m sure!  I guess I should also tell you that the leaves were misted with Peeled Paint Distress Shimmer Mist.

So that’s all I have today.  I leave Thursday for CHA, classes on Friday and then on Friday I’ll finally be able to show you my last two Spellbinders™ CHA projects.  I haven’t been able to show you yet because I used some dies that were not revealed during the Blog Frenzy.  I’m really excited about one of these projects and can’t wait to share it with you.  So Friday it is!  On Saturday I should have lots of fun photos and stories to share with you!

Thanks for stopping by today and remember . . . life is short, embrace the adventures that come your way!

Happy weekend!  I hope y’all are having a good one so far.  It’s flippin’ cold here today, but not nearly as cold as yesterday . . . just sayin’

In preparation for CHA, I broke down this morning and went shopping for some “fat” summer wear.  It broke my heart to have to do it . . .  but its warm there, much warmer than here . . . and my little butter butt won’t fit in any of my shorts or capris from last summer.  Don’t let anyone tell you different . . . quit smoking and put on 10-15 pounds before you can blink . . . automatic!  I know my lungs are healthier though, and the weight will eventually come off . . . I hope!

Anyways, I’ve had this idea over the last few days to play with a different type of paper.  I was curious what would happen if I die cut some brown paper wrapping and make some flowers.  Here’s the results.

PowerOfYouJanuary22

Using Spellbinders™ new S4-328 Foliage and S5-049 Carnation Creations die templates, I die cut three sets (all at once) with the brown paper wrap.  I laid all the carnation pieces out on my non-stick craft sheet, and misted them with Butterscotch and Red Pepper Ranger Color Wash.  Once they were dry I over stamped the background from Studio 490 Art by the Number.  They were then assembled with a brad, smallest to the largest, misted with water and Gold Perfect Pearls.  While I was drying them with the heat tool, I was fluffing and scrunching to give them some dimension.  The leaves were misted with Lettuce Color Wash.

The base and the small frame were die cut using illustration board.  The base is made with LF-126 Grand Squares and the small frame with the small and large squares.   Of course, you’ll find some trinket pins stuck here and there for the finishing touches.

I’ll have more later  . . . I’m working on another set of flowers fixing some of the mistakes make the first time.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend.  Remember to embrace the adventures that come your way . . . life is too damn short!

is on my work desk today!  What’s on yours?

Smiley from millan.net

Yes, it’s Hump Day and that means its another installment of What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday!  I also see that it’s #85!

When I got up late this morning and it hit me that it was Wednesday I had to run down to the studio and actually see what was on my desk.  After the last eclectic Paperie hop and sorority last night I didn’t make it into the studio yesterday and I wasn’t sure what remnants were left.

See for your yourself

work area January 19

There’s my hot glue gun, some bottles of paint and my brushes are still in the glass of water . . .  must bring those up to clean!  I see my coffee mug is still sitting down on the other desk  too.  I must have been in a hurry to get upstairs to write my post.  Actually my laptop normally sits down there on the Hoosier, but I had brought it upstairs to work the day before.

I noticed that my fairy was hanging there over my head and thought you would like to see what that it all about.

Birdcage January 19

It’s a bird cage my mother gave me back last year (something she didn’t want) and on Halloween I put the Christmas Fairy in there.  I think I had been watching Hocus Pocus again and was inspired . . . .

She’ll remain there locked up and I’ll keep adding fun inspiring thing I find along my adventures.  The little fairy hanging outside is a Christmas ornament I found this year and just hung her there . . .  I like her and I like the sentiment, Cherish simple moments!

I’m also contemplating what to pack for CHA next week.  Any one else going?  What type of clothes are you packing?

That’s it today . . . thanks for stopping by and remember . . .  life is short, embrace the adventures that come your way!
