Good rainy Monday morning!  I don’t think our rain is ever going to end . . . at least for this week it’s here to stay.  If you watch the weather and see the Ohio Valley line and see Louisville, KY on the map . . . that’s me.  I’m right across the river in Indiana and all I can say  . . . it’s wet!

I remember in 1997, March 2 to be exact.  It was Kate’s birthday and I had planned a huge skating party for her.  It started raining and didn’t stop.  All the roads and low lying areas flooded and the river was rising.  By the end of day we were moving my parents out of their home on the river.  It takes the river to rise 28 feet to be over the wall to be in the yard.  Their house was higher than most and it took another 4 feet to be in the upper portion of the house.  It ended with 4 feet of water in their house and the clean up was horrendous.  I don’t think the river is going to be that high when it crests this week, but it is expected to be 4 feet over the wall.   I am so glad my mother has finally sold the river house and Kate and Will have moved from there.  This is the first year in I don’t know how long (I can’t remember the first year my parents spent on the river, but I’m guessing early 80’s) that we won’t have to mess with moving stuff up and/or out of the house.  Can you hear my big sign of relief.

My studio is still gathering ground water and I have a line of beach towels holding it back.  When they get soaked, I replace them with dry ones and bring the wet ones up to take a spin in the washer and then the dryer.  They keep rotating periodically through out the day.  Luckily our power outages have not been as bad as the first day (14-16 hours I think).

I haven’t been getting the studio time that I’d like to have over the last week (because of the weather) and this has put me way behind on projects that need to be completed by the end of this week.   On Saturday, when my girls were at the movies, I did sneak in a little time (before the water got so bad again) to create a quick card.  Well I shouldn’t say quick because it took me all day, but only because of the water and switching towels, etc.  This is the project I have to share with you today.

I used one of the bird images from the JustRite Back Yard Birds set and some of my new Melissa Frances paper (5th Avenue).  The image is colored with Copic Markers and the paper was all sewn to some Core’dinations cardstock.  Of course, you’ll also see many different Spellbinders™ die templates.

I’m going to finish my morning coffee and then head down to the studio to check on the towels and hopefully work some.  I’m trying to avoid bringing stuff upstairs to work because I know I won’t have all that I need at any given time . . . and I just can’t work like that!

I hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
