Smiley from millan.netGood Tuesday morning!  Okay I’m a little surprised that it’s October already!  Before I know it, it will be Christmas and then it will be February . . . CRUISE TIME!  Have I told you . . . my family is going on a cruise?  NO?  Well my mother, and all us adult children (less Smiley from millan.net) will all be going.  Do I think I’m going to have a good time because Mr. Stodgy isn’t going . . . . DUH!  Of course I will and probably a better time at that!Smiley from millan.net

I have to tell you . . . I LOVE this time of year (not for the weather though).  I love it for the decorations! Smiley from millan.net

I don’t decorate as much as when my girls were little, but I do decorate. I’m one of those that must have something unusual tucked in all corners; so when you walk through my house, there is always something to see or surprise you.

Yesterday I got up in the garage attic and brought down all the Halloween/Fall decorations.  It’s a mixture of pumpkins, leaves, witches, etc., that I will leave up until it’s time to decorate for Christmas.  When Smiley from millan.net is over I remove all the Smiley from millan.net stuff and I’m still left with quite a bit.

Anyway, the point of all this babble is that I made a new decoration yesterday.  It didn’t take but a few hours and I’ll tuck it way with some other stuff I have in mind to make.  Both girls have asked me for decorations that I’m not going to use, so if I make something new . . . that leaves something else for them.

This started out as a plain wood coffin from Michaels.  You know the ones . . . that cost a $1 and can be anything you want them to be!

The new Quietfire Wicked Halloween Stamp Set was perfect for this project.  (It’s also the one that I will use for the other projects I have in mind.)  The set has these perfect little labels that can be used on bottles . . .Smiley from millan.net

So the first thing I did was remove all the hardware (latches and hinges) and then painted the coffin black with Claudine Hellmuth Charcoal Black Acrylic Paints both inside and out.  For the front of the coffin, I stamped a little bat from the stamp set, colored it with Copic Markers, punched it out in a circle, and covered the entire thing with Glossy Accents.

One side was perfect for a skeleton (the hand broke off in the process . . .  you’ll find it by the feet).  The other side could hold some small bottles and a sign or two.

The labels on the bottles really are part of the poem in this set of stamps, but I cut them all apart thinking they would make perfect labels.  The tag that the labels and sign are stamped on (with Ranger Archival Jet Black) was made using the Wrinkle-Free Distress Technique with the new Seasonal Distress Inks.

The project itself is not real fancy or complicated, just one that can be finished quickly and have fun in the process!  Oh and by the way, I drew the lines around the labels with some new black pens I picked up recently, American Crafts Precision Pens.

Thanks for stopping by and remember . . .  life is short, embrace the adventures of your day!
