Happy Buzzing and good luck!!

For my project today, I decided to make a frame using a plain wood frame I picked up at Old Time Pottery for 69¢.  The finish was sanded down and then the frame was painted black.

The front was then covered with Mercurial Masterpiece from the Olde Curiosity Shoppe Collection.  For this project, the 8×8 pad was used because the prints are smaller and more fitting for the small 2.5 x 3.5 frame.  The paper was glued to the frame with Ranger Glue n’ Seal, with the excess sanded from the sides and the middle.  The sanded areas were then sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

HumofBeesFrame BlogHop May2012 CLOSEUP Sentiment

The sentiment was stamped in Archival Jet Black on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders™ Long Rectangles.  While the paper was still in the die, it was sponged with Antique Linen.  The bees were stamped in Archival Sepia.

HumofBeesFrame BlogHop May2012 CLOSEUPFLOWER

The flower is made from Exquisite Motif with the Bauble Blossoms One Die Template.   The paper was stenciled with Antique Linen while it was still in the die.  The middle of the flower was filled with Spiced Marmalade Distress Stickles.   One of the small bees from Parlor Wall was trimmed out from the paper and then adhered to the memo pin by filling the center with Glossy Accents.

The stem of leaves from Foliage and the two leaves from Bitty Blossoms were die cut from GrungePaper and colored with Forest Moss Distress Stain.   The upper right embellishment is one of the bee stickers from Olde Curiosity Shoppe which was stuck to a piece of printed chipboard and then trimmed out.  It is adhered to the frame with 3D Foam Adhesive.

Good morning!    Well, I did get my stitches out yesterday morning and I have to say . . . I hope it looks better than it does in 6 weeks.  That’s when I have to go back for my next check-up.   I had an allergic reaction to the Polysporin I was using, and it’s still a little red.

The Making Art! Challenge on the Everything Wendy Vecchi Yahoo Group this week was to make an ATC.  I finally found some time yesterday afternoon to participate.

MakingArt#41ATC

Instead of using the typical paper ATC, I used one of the Studio 490 ATC Art Parts.  That background color is the new color Peacock Feathers from the Spring Seasonal release of Distress Inks.   The scallop trim was painted black and then the Maya Road Chandelier Trinket Pins were hung with black Artistic Wire.    The gloves (from Dress Forms and More) were colored with Barn Red and then over-stamped with Snow Cap Pigment.  That’s also Snow Cap Pigment on the background.

For some reason I thought it was “clever” to add hands and “eye”glasses along with the sentiment that talks about “body parts”.

Anyhoo, that’s all for me today.  Join me tomorrow for my day in the Quietfire Design Blog Buzz!

Happy Monday!  How was your Mother’s Day?  Mine was fabulous . . . Mallory cooked a great lunch which included one of my favorite deserts, strawberry cake (which was even Gluten Free).  Lucky me . . . I didn’t have to touch a pot, pan or do a dish!  The girls gave me some beautiful hanging baskets for my deck and yard . . . hopefully this rain will go away and I’ll have some sun later this week!

I thought I would share with you today one of my class projects.  The frame I’ll be teaching is a duplicate of one I had published in Just Steampunk!

That’s all for now, except to say thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, enjoy the adventures that come your way today!  I’m going to get my stitches out this morning . . . I would say that’s going to be a great adventure!

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Suzanne Cannon, owner of Quietfire Design, about their new stamps.  When I got Suzanne’s email I had to laugh, because I had just seen the stamps the day before in her newsletter and loved them.  I knew that this was a set I was going to have to have.  So when Suzanne asked if I would participate in a blog hop with this new release, there was no way that I couldn’t say YES . . . while jumping up and down and a cartwheel thrown in for good measure.

Here’s some information on the upcoming blog hop . . . and look at the designers I get to hop with!

I haven’t even started my project yet . . .  that is hopefully going to happen today when I finally toddle into the studio sometime this afternoon.

Thanks for all your nice comments and well wishes about my recent surgery.  This is twice I’ve had this done in just about two years and all I can say is . . . I HATE having to have this surgery.   I might say that this time wasn’t nearly as bad as the last . . . at least Mallory was thankful she didn’t need to shave my head.

Okay that’s it for me . . . thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, enjoy the adventures that come your way today!

Happy Thursday!  At least I think it’s Thursday . . . .

I know I’ve been a little quiet this week, and for damn good reason.  I had another skin cancer on my upper lip that I had Mohs Surgery for on Monday.  Of course, that means sitting with feet up, head back and doing nothing for three days.  This is now my third day and I can’t wait to take a shower tomorrow.  That’s the first day I can get the area wet.  Thank goodness there are reruns of Swamp People on today so I can catch up on what I’ve missed this season!

In the absence of me hitting the studio and getting a little inky (forbidden by the doctor because I would have to bend my head down), I remembered that I had one more card for Inky Antics that I haven’t shared yet.

Image stamped on Neenah paper in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic Markers. Die cut/embossed with various circles, edges sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink. Each layer separated with foam squares. Edge of background paper (green) was die cut/embossed with Edgeabilities, scored and folded over the front. The yellow layer was die cut/embossed with the same Edgeabilities, cut an inch longer, and layered beneath the green layer. Background paper was sponged with Antique Linen and stitched to green layer.

Seam binding dyed with a touch of Antique Linen.

Sentiments stamped in Archival Jet Black and layered on petite ovals. Edges of paper sponged in Antique Linen before stitching together.

That’s all for me today.  Thanks for stopping by and remember  . . . life is short, enjoy the adventures that come your way!
