Well, another week comes to an end and my baby leaves me in a few days . . . She starts her Teach for America training next week . . . it’s starting to hit this mom that her baby is going to be states and states away very soon.  Shhh don’t tell her though . . . I’ll be taking over her bedroom as a new stamping area.

The other day when I was playing around with techniques, I did two of the Faux Batik/Bleach images.  One I showed you yesterday, and the other I have for today.

ODBPoppyCard

The image was stamped and embossed in clear embossing ink, then water colored with Aged Mahogany, Peeled Paint and Broken China Distress Ink Refills.  Once the image was dry (and I had to let it air dry because of the embossing), the embossing was ironed away (Faux Bleach/Batik Technique).

You can barely see it in the photo above, but while the image was still in the circle die template, the inside was lightly sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

Oh and before I forget, I followed the Deconstructed Sketch No. 53.  I found it in a search the other night, printed it out and decided to try it today.  It’s been so long since I’ve followed sketches (well since my SCS Challenge Chaser days) and after looking back through my work for the last few years . . . I need to change things up and try new sketches!  PLUS, I find that I have some free time now too . . .  loving that!

That’s it for me . . . I hope you have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by today!   I’m going to help Mallory pack a little (if she needs me) and start working on my Spellbinders CHA projects.

  8. Gorgeous….. and I have to ask what type of thread do you use in your sewing machine? Because whenever I sew on my cards, the thread doesn’t show up as good as yours does.

    Card is beautiful…… :-).

  10. Sherry, the clear embossing with the watercoloring.. oh my it is stunning! Gorgeous card!!
(That’s exactly what I did when my ‘baby’ left home! The first time he came back from college and saw his room, I could tell he was a little surprised. It had been his bedroom since he was 3 years old!)

  11. Hey Sherry, since I dont have “Outlook” and your email address is in there somewhere, this is the only way I can think of to thank you for a fantastic weekend at The Queen’s Ink. I just love my projects and without your patience and expertise, I am not sure the pieces would have come out so fantastic. Please come back again, and soon!!! Your new friend, “big bad” Sue

  12. It’s beautiful, Sherry! I miss doing some of those old techniques. You rocked this!
