Today I went down to the studio to work on some new cards for Quietfire Designs, and when I went to use my Sizzix Tim Holtz Vagabond, it kicked the plates back on me and now the lower roller is groaning, rocking, grinding, and making all sorts of noise.

I used a sandwich that I’ve been using forever . . . Base plate, thin adapter plate, thin chipboard shim, Spellbinders embossing folder with cardstock, clear plate.  This sandwich has never failed me and if I remove the thin adapter plate and shim, add in the extra clear plate that Sizzix recommends, it doesn’t go through and jams up.  I know . . . I tried it, and I learned from it.

I called Sizzix and they informed me that since I did not use the recommended sandwich there was  nothing they could do.  I then wrote them via their contact page and told them the sandwich again, explained that it was thinner than theirs, and they again stated that it was not covered under any type of warranty because I did not “use” their “recommended sandwich” .  However they would offer to sell me a new Vagabond at the discounted price of $100.00.  Well let me tell you how excited I was with that one . . . NO THANK YOU!  I’ve already spent $300.00 for a machine that should last longer than 2 years . . . don’t ya think?

So in light of the current circumstances I’m selling all of my Tim Holtz Sizzix dies and embossing folders for $5.00 a die or $5.00 a set, plus shipping.  If you are interested in any of the following product, send me an email at [email protected] with your mailing address and information so I can send you an invoice through Paypal.

Smiley from millan.net Good morning!  I probably wouldn’t have this post for you until later today or even tomorrow, but for some ungodly reason, I woke up . . . wide awake . . . at 4:30 this morning.  I’m sure that sometime this afternoon this is where I’ll be . . . Smiley from millan.net . . . but until then

I think I’ll show you an A2 card I made the other day with a new Penny Black stamp I picked up recently.  I also used the new Spellbinders™ Nestabilities® Card Creator die templates . . . which seem to be the only way I can bring myself to make this size card anymore!  I can’t believe that this is the only size card I used to make and now I automatically cut my cardstock at 5.5” square.  Anyhoo, I needed a little thank you card and though this would fit the bill!

PennyBlackCard

The base of the card was made with the Matting Basics A and B, but the top panel of the card was made with the new Fancy Ribbon Threader.  The seam binding was dyed with Dusty Concord Distress Ink.

PennyBlackCardCLOSEUP

The image is only a portion of the stamp, which I die cut/embossed with Labels Twelve.  First, the image was stamped in Distress Embossing Ink, embossed with clear embossing powder, then water colored with Tombow Markers.  After the watercolor had dried, the embossing was ironed away leaving a Faux Bleach/Batik look.

I guess that’s all I have for now . . . unless you want to come help with laundry today . . .

Good morning and welcome to the first hop for the new eclectic Paperie!  I was very surprised when Kim asked me to stay on with the new eP Design Team and of course, I had to say yes!  As a matter of fact, you’ll see some very familiar faces in the new Design Team.

Before I start with all the hop details, the first thing I want to do is wish Kim a Smiley from millan.net

There are a few exciting specials to coincide with the Grand Re-Opening:

  • The first 25 orders receive a free sample paper pack of Carta Bella 12×12 papers

Now for the eP Design Team and those designers participating in today’s hop:

Sherry Cheever YOU ARE HERE

Now it’s time to show you my project! I made a chipboard frame of sorts with thin chipboard, Spellbinders™ Grand Labels One and Graphic 45 Happy Haunting.

HappyHauntingDecor

The flower was made with Blossom Five, the leaves from Grand Peony Creations and the flourish from Jewel Flowers and Flourishes.

The image of the girl on the pumpkin was glued to chipboard and then trimmed out.  I actually used three different images and continued to trim out the second two to layer of each other for some added dimension.  The broom was made by twisting some craft wire together and adding a burlap scrap for the bristle part.

From this angle, you can see the layers of chipboard making the frame, and the layers of the little girl.

I guess that’s about all for me today!  Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to visit the other members of the Design Team to see their fabulous creations!

Good morning!  Can you believe that a week has already gone by and it’s time for another Tangle Time?  Hell I can hardly believe that school has started here . . . where have the days/weeks/months gone?

I still have a few Tangles in the reserves that I did a few weeks back that I want to share with you.

August 7

Both of these are on hot press watercolor paper and measure 3.5” square.

August 10

If I’ve shown you these before, I apologize.  I’ve been a poor record keeper of late!

Thanks to everyone who has played along and left a link.  I’ve so enjoyed seeing your Tangles . . . great inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by today and as before, if you are inclined to post your work please come back and leave a link.  We would love to see what you are doing!

Good morning!  I hope everyone had a great weekend.  It finally cooled down here and was quite pleasant outside Saturday . . . actually it was down right excellent weather!  It was so gorgeous that I snuck out for a while and went to some friends Buffett Party . . . where there was great music by Lunar Beach House, plenty of eats and cute little bottles of Land Shark Lager!  I hadn’t been to one of the Buffett parties for 8 years, so I decided I needed to do something for “ME” and off I went . . . had a grand time!

Yesterday I spent the better part of the day in the studio!  It was great to finally get a little ink on my fingers.  I was lucky enough to be one of the blog winners on Wendy Vecchi’s blog a few weeks ago and yesterday I finally put ink to stamp.

Studio490WildflowerCard

I inked the coneflower from the Wildflower Art set, with Peeled Paint, Dusty Concord and Brushed Corduroy Distress Markers, misted with water and then stamped on damp watercolor paper.  Without re-inking the stamp, I did a second stamp just slightly lower and to the left of the original.  Using a water brush, I pulled the ink from the markers into the open areas of the image.

Studio490WildflowerCardCLOSEUP

The background stamp from Live and Mark Art was inked with Antique Linen and then stamped over the flower images.    The image was die cut with Spellbinders™ Labels One, stenciled with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, then the edges were sponged with Antique Linen.

Even though Wendy sent me the Art Parts that go with this set, I thought it would be fun to show her images in a different way that how she typically designs with them.   I think it helps sometimes to see something in a different light just in case you don’t have some of the supplies that are often used together.  Now the next time, I’ll probably use the coordinating Art Parts.

The seam binding was dyed with Dusty Concord to match the purple in the coneflower.

That’s all I have for today.  Tomorrow is tangle day and then later in the week I’ve got some exciting news to share . . .
