Good morning! Wow I feel like it has been forever since I’ve been able to get my craft on. I’ve got some great ideas for projects but I’ve been waiting on supplies and mainly just having some uninterrupted crafty time. I’ll need to be kicking it into high gear here over the next week or so . . . I’m way behind in design teams projects and my month is slowly disappearing.
I tried to get a little inky over the weekend but I’m afraid the mojo up and ran away . . . everything I tried was nothing that I felt comfortable with. I was able to salvage one image and believe me . . . what looks like it took 30 minutes actually took 2 days.
I decided to watercolor one of my favorite Stampendous images, Garden Background. The image was embossed with Queen’s Gold Embossing Powder and then water colored with various Distress Ink Refills. (I’ve listed them all below in the supply list).
I wasn’t very neat with my water coloring on purpose. I was trying for the free flowing look with lots of water and dropping in the inks.
The image and the layer behind it was die cut/embossed with the new Spellbinders™ 5×7 Matting Basics. At first I thought I wanted to go with just a plain white layer behind the flowers, but it was a little to stark for me. I ended up sponging on some Tumbled Glass and Antique Linen Distress Inks to tone down the white, then edged the layer with Krylon Gold Leafing Pen. I liked the look so well, that I ended up doing the same thing with the white paper layer behind the 5×7 Detailed Scallops layer.
I think I was in a springy mood when I was water coloring the image. I’m tired of cold weather! It can be 60 here one day and 30 the next . . . ah the joys of living in the Ohio Valley. The daffodils have been peeking out of the ground for a month now and I noticed last week that the Naked Ladies are popping up in the boulevard . . . I’m ready to get outside and take some baby walks!

Hey, Sherry~so great to see another of your beautiful projects! I can’t imagine how busy you must be caring for the little Princess. Bet she’s growing like a weed. We’ve been having the same weird weather here in NC…it wreaks havoc with the old sinuses. But my yard was filled with hundreds of robins the other day, so I am convinced spring will soon be here.
Your card is lovely. The watercoloring is so well done, and I like the way you layered the background. The hydrangea is particularly lovely!

Sherry, love your card. It may have taken two days but it is beautiful. We are still buried in snow in northern Wisconsin with more coming today. Can’t even imagine buds peaking out yet. I love the water color technique with the distress inks. Comes out so soft. thanks as always for sharing.
Your card is gorgeous. I love the watercolor look and the detailed scallop. Haven’t seen that one used yet. We’re having the same funky weather in St. Louis. I’m ready for the warm weather to stay. Haven’t seen any buds or flower peeking up yet, but soon I hope.

Beautiful card! I love this Spellbinder frame you have used. Perfect for this spring image. Like you I am really looking forward to spring. Kids went up north for a wedding for 4 days so I spent my four days off doing some spring clean up in the yard (desperately needed), and my nights crafting. Had some unfinished projects to complete. I am proud to say I finished them up. Today however is gloomy and we are suppose to get some rain thru the next couple of days. Sure hope so, cause we are 2″ behind they say. But I have enjoyed the warmer weather of late even though the nights have been chilly. The girls love to play outside and go for walks when the weather permits, and they are a great help to grandma. Belive it or not they are my little pine needle police. They pick up any pine needles that have fallen onto the patios and walk ways daily. I have them well trained huh? They both have little push brooms as well and we spend about 15 minutes in the mornings sweeping up before play time begins. It’s great.
