Good morning all!  Well the start of the school year is fast approaching here in Southern Indiana (August 1) and the teachers are back prepping their class rooms and in meetings.  That means . . . Hadlee is back with YaYa!  We are staying busy for sure . . . lots of playing and rocking on the agenda . . . oh and trying to keep up with the now very mobile grandbaby.  She loves to be in the studio with me . . . her walker zips all around and everything is easy prey!  I must wear shoes when she’s in that walker  . . . the top of the feet are not safe!

Some weeks ago, when I was participating in the Color Throwdown hop, I prepared today’s project.  Okay I didn’t finish it entirely then . . . I realized after getting the stamping done that I had used the wrong colors, so I needed to start over then.  I did save it however; and finished it up the other day.

BirthdayCard

I added a little extra stamping on it and a few more lines in the flowers to finish off the image.  I actually liked this flower better than the other I did, but the colors weren’t correct  . . . so.  As with the other card, the image was colored with markers, misted with water and then stamped on watercolor paper.

I needed a birthday card over the weekend, so Happy Birthday (from Michael’s) was stamped and little tag was die cut/embossed with Spellbinders® Charmed I’m Sure.  Of course, in my quick and easy line of cards, the card front and base were die cut/embossed with A2 Matting Basics A and B.

The ribbon was dyed with Ripe Persimmon to match the color of the flower.

Well that’s all for me right now.  I’m off  and running this morning . . . doctor appointments, Hadlee to pick up, blah blah blah!  I nope y’all have a wonderful day!

Happy Friday!  I hope everyone has had a great week.  I myself didn’t get as much studio time as I had wished this past week . . . there’s a big altered piece sitting on my counter that I haven’t been able to touch all week long.  Mallory ended up in the emergency room on Monday night and they admitted her, finally releasing her on Wednesday afternoon.  We had a few long days with even longer nights.  Luckily we are getting closer to finally getting a diagnosis on her, so keep your fingers crossed for us!

Much to my surprise, I realized last night that I had a post due on the Quietfire Creations Blog today.  So I scampered into the studio and whipped up a quick card for today.

All the details and other pictures can be found on the Quietfire Creations Blog, so I hope you’ll join me over there as well!

Thanks for stopping by here today and maybe the next time you hear from me, I’ll have my altered project ready to go!

ColorThrowdown

Good morning!  I know . . . don’t faint . . . a post from me 3 days in a row.  Not only is today the 250th Color Throwdown, but it’s also their 5th Anniversary!  To help celebrate 5 years of color challenges, the Design Team have asked all the Alumni and former Guest Designers to participate.  I’m thrilled to be participating as a former Guest Designer.

For a list of participating Designers, as well as a list of all the prizes that are available to win, please visit the Color Throwdown Blog.   I haven’t seen the list, but I hear it’s long and fabulous!

I only had the Bermuda Bay SU ink, so I had to make substitutions for the rest:  Crumb Cake – Vintage Photo Distress; Melon Mambo – Picked Raspberry Distress; So Saffron – Scattered Straw Distress.

ColorThrowdown250

The background of the image was water colored with Bermuda Bay.  The image (old SU Inspired by Nature) was colored with Distress Markers in Peeled Paint, Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo.  Picked Raspberry was added to the flower with a water brush.  The image was misted with water and then stamped on the background.  The old SU Background Scratched, was stamped over the image in Vintage Photo.

The front panel was die cut/embossed with Spellbinders® A2 Matting Basics B and the card base with die cut with A2 Matting Basics A.  The seam binding was dyed and the sentiment was stamped with Bermuda Bay.    The sentiment was then die cut/embossed with Charmed I’m Sure.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you enjoy the hop!
