Good morning and happy Friday!  Are you ready for a long holiday weekend?  I’m having the whole fam damily in on Sunday so the preparations are under way for a big cookout and some outdoor games (if it’s not too darn not).  I’ve decided that if it is too unbearable, I’m going to somehow attach the water hose to the gazebo and set the nozzle on mist (our own Arizona misting system – southern style)!

Today my project is a journal page that I did a few weeks ago for Quietfire and decided not to use it.  I made something else and then forgot all about this journal page.  As I was flipping through my journal the other night I saw it, marked it and decided then that it would be my last post for this month.

I think the reason I decided not to use it originally, was that I hated the circles of ink I added at the last minute.   Last night when I took a second look at the page, I decided to tone down the circles by dabbing on some additional paint using a chipboard stencil I had made using Spellbinders® CrissCross Expandable Pattern.

You can barely make out in the above photo (upper right) a pale white spray through the CrissCross and then you can see globs of paint where I dabbed it on with a sea sponge.  In the lower left you can see on the flower a gold spray that I used with the same stencil.

Gesso was added to the page first, the background was added with distress stains and then the heart was stenciled with another chipboard stencil I made using Spellbinders Classic Hearts.

The sentiment is Garden Delights from Quietfire Design.    The flower was made by spreading embossing paste on another chipboard stencil that I die cut with Spellbinders Asters and Poppies Die D-Lites.  After the embossing paste dried, it was colored with Peeled Paint, Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge Distress Markers.

I suppose that’s all I have for today.  I’ve got another project coming up on Labor Day so I need to get it done before I have the family in on Sunday.

Thanks for stopping by today!
