Good morning!  I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.  I went with my mom and sister to a local art show on Sunday, where everyone found something special to purchase!  There were some fabulous new pottery booths (left my name in one to take a class or two) and found a (new to me) mixed media artist who used to work for Plaid.  Needless to say, that I was so taken by her work that I did purchase a couple of prints!  Then we hit one of the local junk stores where I found this . . .

all for $10.  My new Pinterest board, Wooden Spool Inspiration, is already filling up!

Now for today!  I have an altered frame posted over on the eclectic Paperie Blog today.  You really do need to hop over and take a look at the different photos and get all the details.  Used a new product from Art Anthology that I don’t know how I created without!

Oh and I have to give a shout out to my friend, Heidi Blankenship, who sent me all the fabulous ButterBeeScraps embellishments that I used for the middle!  I knew they were going to be fun the minute I opened the package!

Thanks for stopping in and visiting with me today!

Good morning!  I know . . . don’t faint . . . two days in a row posting!  Like I said before, this may not last long but right now my schedule with the grandbaby has changed and I find I have a couple free days each week.  PLUS, I’m really trying to make more of an effort to get the creative mojo flowing . . .

This Halloween card is posted over on the Quietfire Creations Blog today and I do hope you’ll hop over and take a look at the extra photos and all the details.  There’s even a little surprise on the inside!

In the meantime, I picked up a few frames while out running errands yesterday and I have a couple of new stencils to try out . . . I hear the embossing paste calling my name!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a fabulous day!

Project Supplies:

Good morning!  How is everyone?  I must say that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting into the studio and just playing recently.  It’s been so long since I’ve done anything crafty just for the FUN of it!  Might have to be making a few changes just so I do feel like its fun and not so much work.

When I was at StampAway a week or so ago, I finally got to meet Pat Huntoon from Technique Junkies.  You know I’ve had hops with her, used her product and never had met her . . . I was so excited when I saw her sitting in her booth!   What I didn’t know was that she had joined forces with Stamp Camp (I actually have a number of stamps that I’ve picked up over the years from Stamp Camp . . .  I’m going to need to dig them out) and now you can purchase those stamps online at Technique Junkies Stamps/Stamp Camp.  While I was browsing Pat’s booth, I found a set of stamps that I absolutely had to have . . .  Things I Want To Do . . . which I’ve used for today’s project.

For those of you who have followed me for some time, know that I love Art Impressions Millie!  It’s been quite a long time since I’ve pulled Millie out and got her inky . . . but you see, when I first saw the set Things I Want To Do, I KNEW that they would be perfect with Millie!

Can I just say . . .  FUN!  Millie was colored with Copic Markers and then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders S5-171 A2 Curved Matting Basics A; the black background panel was die cut/embossed with S5-172 A2 Curved Matting Basics B.

The sentiment was stamped in Archival Jet Black, and then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders S4-367 Back to Basics Tags.

I went rummaging through my paper stash for something that would match Millie’s dress, and finally settled on an old pad of Circa 1934 by Cosmo Cricket.  Some of the scraps were distressed, inked and then stitched to a piece of black card stock.

I think you’ll be seeing more of this sentiment set with some of the other Art Impressions ladies!

Good morning and happy hump day!   I don’t know what’s come over me . . . once again I had a little time when I actually felt like playing around with some ink and paper.

Before I get started with my card though . . . have you see this?  Art on the Edge hosted by Ken Oliver!  I signed up a few days ago and today I made a reservation for accommodations for myself and a couple of stamping friends, Heidi Blankenship and Debbie Seyer.  ROAD TRIP — WOO HOO!!

Okay . . . now for some stamping!  Not long ago (well, I guess it has been a few months if not longer), I picked up my first Fiskars clear stamp set, Petals from Scratch.  I was mainly taken with the flowers . . .  yes, you know I love my flowers . . . thinking that I would eventually get around to making a card with it.  Sadly, the weeks and then the months slipped away, and I never put ink on the stamps.  I figured it was time . . .

A piece of watercolor paper was die cut/embossed with the oval die template from Spellbinders S5-177 A2 Filigree Delight.  The image was then stamped and embossed with clear embossing powder.  The background was created next using the Wrinkle-Free Distress Technique and Tumbled Glass and Bundled Sage Distress Ink.

Once completely dry, the image was then watercolored with Distress Ink Refills.  Using a craft iron and a piece of thin printer paper as my pressing cloth, the clear embossing was ironed away from the image (Faux Batik).  The image was then placed back into the oval die template and Antique Linen Distress Ink was sponged around the edges.  The sentiment was stamped in Archival Hydrangea, then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders S4-367 Back to Basics Tags.

The background layer was die cut/embossed with Filigree Delight and the card base was made with Spellbinders S5-131 A2 Matting Basics.  The seam binding ribbon was dyed with Dusty Concord Distress Ink.

Well, I suppose that’s all I have for today!  Thanks for stopping by and joining me.

Project Supplies:

Good morning!  Well  . . . I’ve got to tell ya . . .  I had a great time at StampAway on Saturday!  I was able to see some old friends that I haven’t seen for some time, and I also got to finally meet some people that I’ve been friends with on Facebook, but have never met in person.  It was a great day and I’m so glad I went!

I took a little heat on Saturday from one of my traveling companions because I don’t make cards that are mailable.  She said to me as I got out of the car, make us a card and mail it to us . . .  like she knows I don’t make cards that  can be mailed without a padded envelope and extra postage.  I laughed and thought to myself that it would be a cold day in hell when that happened!

Here’s the deal!  I don’t make single layered, clean and simple cards for a reason.  They just aren’t me!  I also find them very difficult to make . . .  I have to down-shift the gears and when I’m finished, I think I still need to add more.

Well, I took this latest development as a personal challenge!  (Of course, what I am going to show you today looks to me like it’s not done and needs so much more to be complete.)   No ribbon . . . No dimensional flower . . .  No big bow . . . BUT . . .

I did use a new stamp set that I picked up on Saturday from Art Impressions Shake Your Booty line, Bloomer Set

ShakeYourBootyOutside

The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored with Copic Markers.  Now I have to admit, that I have not pulled out the Copic Markers in I don’t know how long . . . . way too long apparently!  The background papers are some old BasicGrey that I found in my stash when I was looking for something that would match the coloring.

What I like in particular, is the shaker on the inside!

ShakeYourBootyInsideCLOSEup

Each Shake Your Booty sets comes with one Action Wobble, but I knew one would not be enough so I bought a package of extras!

The booty was stamped twice (once on the inside front of the card and the second time on a spare sheet of paper), colored and then the second was trimmed out and affixed with the Action Wobble.

ShakeYourBootyInsideBooty

The sentiment was stamped on the inside of the card in Memento Tuxedo Black.

ShakeYourBootyInsideSentiment

I’m pretty sure this card will fit in an invitation size envelope and will require NO extra postage.  I’m also pretty sure that I won’t be mailing this card out . . . I’ll give it to my mother (who loves my funny women cards) to mail to one of her friends.  Then again, I may be making a few more of these just to keep on hand . . .

ShakeYourBootyInside

Thanks for stopping by and for bearing with me on my quest to create a card that can be mailed without the padded envelope and does not require extra postage.  Inspiration hits at the funniest time doesn’t it?
