Happy Monday!  I hope y’all had a great weekend . . . I raced all day Saturday (oh yeah my guy has the pole for the 500 . . . go daddy, go!)  Happy to see Danica is going to be in the Nationwide race as well . . . she did a great job on Saturday!  The only problem was with the broadcasters  . . . you didn’t know there were other drivers on the track.   Yesterday we played football  . . . how about you?  Bummer that the Colts lost, but am so happy for the Saints!

I remember seeing on the Moxie Fab World Blog some time ago that there was an Anne Taintor card challenge.  Now it’s no secret that I’m a huge Anne Taintor fan and some of my best cards (the pecker card) have been inspired by her.  I’ve had this challenge in the back of my mind knowing that one day I would get the perfect idea.   I think I’ve got it!

Old enough to know better

This image reminds me of driving down my boulevard on the back of a convertible (Ya-Ya style) . . . yes old enough to know better, but young enough not to give a rat’s ass!  Then the other day I received my Graphic 45 On The Boardwalk paper . . . too perfect  not to use it!

I hope you have a fabulous day and remember  . . . life is short, make the most of the day’s adventures!

SHERRY SIGNATURE

The Dancing Nuns!

I made this card (Ode to Ouiser Boudreaux) last October for my mother to give to one of her friends for her birthday.  Well, my mother has a friend in Florida who has a birthday this coming week, and she asked me to make one more.   She’s quite sure that her friend will thoroughly enjoy it!

Quite frankly, this is one card that I myself enjoy making . . . it makes me want to put in “Steel Magnolias” and watch it once again!  Someday I will find the perfect images to work with all the one-liners in the movie .. . .  I’m working on it!

DancingNunsJan30

The nuns were colored with Copic Markers and then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders™ Circles.  Instead of using pearls on this card, I decided to keep it more simple and used White Opal Liquid Pearls.  I doubled one of the new Spellbinders™ Borders (Fair Isle) for my border at the bottom on the card.  The computer generated sentiment is tied to a vintage button from my stash.

Here’s the inside

I hope you are enjoying your weekend!  Remember  . . . life is short, enjoy the adventures of each day!

Smiley from millan.net  Are you ready for the little Smiley from millan.net tonight?  I am!  I’ve got a basket full of candy that I don’t like (or can’t eat) to give out and we’re all set.  Smiley from millan.net

Now, how many of you are Steel Magnolia fans?  I LOVE that movie and all the great one-liners that I never get enough of.  One that constantly makes me laugh is when Ouiser is sitting in church and proudly announces that she and her friends used to dress up like nuns and go bar hopping!  When I saw Mo Manning’s drawing of Joy, I knew that I had to have that image and exactly what I was going to do with it.

 JOY

The image was printed on Neenah paper, water colored with Distress Re-inkers, then die/cut and embossed with Spellbinders™ Circle Nesties.  The sentiment on the front tag and inside the card was computer generated.

Joy inside

I think I’ll give this card to my mother to send to one of her friends . . . they’ll get a real hoot out of it!

Smiley from millan.net  The other day my friend, Janine Tinklenberg, reminded me with this post, that I haven’t done a twisted and/or demented card in a very long time.  I’ve been thinking about it, set out a few stamps with ideas in the back of head for them, but truly did not feel inspired until yesterday!

I hit the road early yesterday morning visiting my LSS and then a quick hop into Hobby Lobby.  I still haven’t made it to Archiver’s, but it’s on the list!  While in my LSS I spied a small, unobtrusive wooden stamp sitting on a shelf . . . . just a little over an inch square, from Inky Antics.  It was my inspiration for today’s card!  Oh yes, you’ll soon see why I just HAD to HAVE this sentiment  . . . Smiley from millan.net

Upon returning home I found the appropriate stamp to coordinate with the sentiment and started working.  I didn’t finish this card until this morning, and I can’t wait to post it for you.

Is she good, or is she bad?

I would give a description, but quite honestly I think the card just says it all!  Here’s the inside.  The top portion was computer generated!

Today Rubbernecker Stamps releases 5 new sets!  To celebrate this release, we invite you to Blog Stroll along with the Rubbernecker Red-Hot Mommas.  The Stroll begins at the Rubbernecker Stamps Blog where you will find the guidelines on how to win one of the four sets being given away during this release.  If you haven’t started at the Rubbernecker Blog, you should go there as soon as possible. That’s where you’ll find the first clue to begin your Stroll and where the key words for the phrase actually starts.  I’ve noticed that some of you don’t start at the Rubbernecker Blog and then leave out part of the words in the phrase you submit.   Sorry y’all but I can’t count those in the drawing for prizes.

I’m very excited about these images and find that they are so versatile.  They can stand alone or be combined to make scenes, collages . . . really, anything you desire to make!  Remember this card?

WRINGLE FREE DISTRESS FINISHED CARD

I used the Butterfly and Flourish Inchies being released today, along with the large Flourish and Floral Silhouettes released earlier.  Pretty sneaky huh?

For today’s card I’m using the new Diva Inchies.  If you like shoes, purses or hats, you’re gonna LOVE this set!  There’s a little BAD humor in today’s card . . . . let’s see if you can put it all together!  Actually, let’s put it together with today’s Blog Stroll.  When you leave your comment to be considered for one of the 4 free stamp sets today, tell me what you would call this card.  I won’t tell you yet what I had in mind  . . . I want to know if you can see it and/or guess it.

DivaInchiesMaeWestMay28

This card actually started out as a card for this week’s WACKY WEDNESDAY Challenge, but then I had another brainstorm (yes, you know it hurt) and had to move on to that idea.  The images were stamped, die cut and embossed to be Inchies, and then they were placed on a layer of pink cardstock.  The pink layer was die cut with the Spellbinders rectangle that I die cut out the middle of the black cardstock.  It fit together beautifully and made its own frame.  The background panel was stamped with Rubbernecker’s new Flourish set.  I found the sentiment in among my Rubbernecker stamps, but because it was rather large for what I wanted, I generated it with the computer to fit my Spellbinders tag.

  • Stamps:  422 Diva Inchies and 463 Flourish Set from Rubbernecker Stamps
  • Paper:  Neenah Classic Crest Solar White; SU Pink Pirouette and Basic Black
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black; SU Pink Pirouette
  • Accessories:  Spellbinders Classic Square and Long Classic/Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities, and Tags 5 Shapeabilities; Copic Markers;  Ranger Matte Accents; Doodlebug Designs Lily White Jewels; May Arts Ribbon; Computer; Venture Foam Tape

The Blog Stroll ends with me and my clue in the phrase is:  Inchies Along!  I hope you’ve started at the Rubbernecker Blog, followed the instructions for the hop – visited all the other blogs, left comments, and have found all the phrase clues.

To win one of the newly released sets (or any of the other new releases since April 1), all you have to do is leave me a comment, and then email the phrase (with the correct subject line and your mailing address) that you found on the stroll to me at [email protected].   The Blog Stroll will end at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 28, and the winners will be announced on the Rubbernecker Blog!

I hope you enjoyed the stroll and thanks for stopping at the BAD Side for awhile.
