Good morning!  Today it’s my turn to post over on the Quietfire Creations Blog.

Here’s a little sneak peek of the card I’ve posted.

QFDBelieveCloseUPOrnament

When working on this card, I was playing with the new product Stick It!  LOVE!!!!  It’s a thin adhesive that works perfectly with intricate die cuts.  If you’ve not seen it or heard about it, here’s a post on Ken Oliver’s blog talking all about Stick It!

I used Stick It when I die cut the middle section of the ornament so that I would be able to adhere it to the ornament easy.  Didn’t want to mess around with trying to glue it.  After completing the card, it occurred to me to try the Stick It on the top side of the die cut.  Perfection!  I could add all the glitter I wanted and it stayed on the Stick It side!  You are going to love this thin adhesive!

Anyhoo, to get all the details and more pictures of today’s project, please visit the Quietfire Creations Blog.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Hey y’all!  So I got my days a little mixed up and calendars were a little wonky and I ended up with an extra project, which I’ve decided to post today instead of waiting for a couple of weeks.

You know, I’m not really a pink kinda girl, and somehow I ended up with pink as the main theme.  It really was quite by accident, since the original plan was white, ALL white!

QFDPoinsettiaLeft

The poinsettia was die cut/embossed and while I was in the process of shaping the leaves, it turned red/pink.  I truly doubt that this had anything to do with the mist that I had sprayed on the blooms, but instead some left over ink on the foam I was using for shaping; when I turned the leaves over, they were pink.  Instead of tossing them (which was my first inclination), I decided to go with the mistake and make a happy ending with it.  Actually, I liked the little touch of color!

The sentiment, Quietfire Design – Christmas Waves a Magic Wand, was embossed with Queen’s Gold Embossing Powder and then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Labels 40 Decorative Accents.  While the paper was still in the die template, Antique Linen Distress Ink was sponged around the inside of the die.

The layers behind the sentiment were die cut/embossed with Spellbinders Labels 40, and sponged with Antique Linen as well.  I couldn’t decide on the color of ribbon to use, so I went with dying some seam binding with Spun Sugar Distress Ink.

I guess that’s all for now.  I hope you have a fabulous day and thanks for stopping by!

Project Supplies:

Good morning!  I hope y’all are doing well and staying warm . . . it’s a whopping high temperature of 26 degrees here today (I miss my shorts and bare feet)!  Let’s see, since I was last here my sister and I walked our first 5K.  I finished in 47 minutes, which I’ll take since I didn’t jog, run or trot at all . . . just walked.  I’m especially proud of my sister!  Two years ago she fell and broke her leg right below her knee.  She had 4 surgeries in the first week and has since had two more and a bone graft.  (okay I’m guessing at the number, I might be off one or two surgeries but I’m sure she’ll pipe in and let me know for sure)   For her to get up and start walking with a 5K is extraordinary  . . . I’ve been walking all summer long and get lots of exercise chasing Hadlee around the house everyday . . . but for my sister . . . WHOA Nellie!  She did fabulous and it made her believe that anything is possible now.  I’m so proud of her!!!!

Let me see what else?  I had a crafty Monday with my sister and we made ICE Resin pendants.  We haven’t finished them up quite yet, but I’m pretty darn close to having mine all complete . . . then I can show you what I did!  Honestly, I’m thinking I need to open up an online store and start selling some stuff off . . . anyone interested?

I’ve also been working on some gift boxes for an event my sorority is having and I’ve been gathering my thoughts to create a special 70th Anniversary gift . . . so much going on in this BAD mind of mine!

The other day I was cruising around Pinterest looking for some weight loss quotes (those Daily Inspirations on Facebook) and I happened across a shadowbox.  I loved it  . . . instantly . . . and pinned it for myself because I knew that I had to try my hand at it!

Yesterday I was finishing up in the studio after a Quietfire kind of day, and remembered that I had a small wood frame in my alterable stash.  It’s something I picked up at Hobby Lobby one day a few years ago, probably with an idea for it at the time . . . but it never came to light.  I decided to fill my afternoon with paint and stencils!

Here’s my finished project.

Here’s what the frame looked like before I started.

The frame was painted white, antiqued with a gray paint and then lightly sanded to add some texture to the frame.  I found one larger jingle bell buried deep in a drawer in the stash closet, which I took outside and spray painted with oil rubbed bronze, then hung it up to dry while I finished the frame.

Suzanne Cannon, owner of Quietfire Design, recently created a Silhouette cutting file of her hand-calligraphy “Believe” which I knew was going to be the sentiment inside the frame.  The file with cut from vinyl so that I could make a stencil in order to paint the lettering inside the frame.

To finish the frame, embellishments were added to the jingle bell and it was hung from the inside top of the frame. Can I just say  . . . I’m loving this little frame and think I need to make a few more!

I guess that’s all I have for today . . . Believe it or not, I will be back tomorrow with another new project!  I know . . . don’t faint!

I hope y’all have a great day!

Project Supplies:

Good morning!  Before I start with my post today I have one very exciting thing to tell you . . . I’m walking my first official 5K Saturday morning!  I’ve been wanting to walk one all summer long and could never catch one on a good weekend.  Walking and keeping track of my weekly miles has become the norm since my weight loss journey began a year ago, so I’m pretty excited for this next adventure in my journey!

When I was at Art at the Edge, I was lucky enough to win one of the door prizes that weekend.  Now that in itself was something, because I never ever win anything.  What did I win?  I won a nice size gift bag of Tonic Studio dies!  I was pretty excited because I didn’t even know Tonic had dies . . . I have Tonic punches and scissors (which happen to be some of my favorite tools), but punches . . . oh my BADness!

I was really excited over a couple of the die sets that I received . . . .

LAYERED SQUARES measuring at the largest 5.5” and since most of the cards I make are 5.5 square, I couldn’t have been happier!  What’s even better is that part of the packaging is a magnetic sheet which the dies are on, along with a plastic sleeve with holes that can be put in a binder . . . easy peasy storage solutions right there with the packaging!  The notches that you see in the center edges help to align the dies up when placing more than one down, such as making the frame below.

I just happened to use those squares on my card today . . .

QFDChristmas2

I also used one of the new Quietfire Design Christmas sets, It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.  This card is being featured over on the Quietfire Creations Blog today, where you can see more photos and get a few more details.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Good morning all!  Hope everyone is doing well and staying out of trouble.  I’m wrapping down what’s been a pretty busy month so far (birthday celebrations, family reunion, fall festivals, Broadway shows).  It’s finally the weekend for Ken Oliver’s Art at the Edge!  Can’t wait to see everyone and meet up with some friends I haven’t seen for some time.  I’ll be hitting the social media over the weekend, so make sure to catch me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter . . .  from what I’ve seen so far, Ken has some fabulous swag that he’ll be sharing with us, and of course, I’m going to have to share with you!

Now for today!  I’ve got a card posted over on the Quietfire Creations Blog, using one of the newly redesigned and cling mounted stamps.
