Hey y’all!  I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty tired of all this rain.  I was curled up on the bed this afternoon with one pup lying on my pillow and the other under the bed.   Neither of them like thunderstorms!

Yesterday I started a card that I’ve been wanting to do forever.  It’s actually a remake of one I’ve made a couple of times . . . . I guess you could say I cased myself.  How many of you remember this card?

AND then there was this remake for the SCS Dirty Dozen Gallery . . .

For the last few years I’ve been wondering how Ethel would look with all the little peckers.  Well, with the recent release of Spring Inchies by Rubbernecker Stamps I finally had the perfect little birds.  I have to say that I quite like Ethel and her little peckers!

I hope everyone has a great weekend.  I have Stamp Club tomorrow and then have to meet with mom to talk about Kate’s graduation party.  Thanks for stopping by!

Well, I guess I’ve been a little lax in posting the last few days.  Actually, it’s been busy, busy, busy here.  First, Mallory and her friends came in Friday and we all went to Kate’s to celebrate her birthday.  Saturday was a little hectic trying to get the girls ready to leave for their Spring Break trip.  The pulled out of here at 11:00 p.m. Saturday night . . . in MY car!  Now for anyone who really knows this BAD girl, knows that I never ever let anyone else drive my car.  However, it was a good thing I did, because they were packed to the max and never would have fit in any of their cars.

I had Stamp Club here last week too, and I want to share the one card we made.  We have started this year that the Hostess for the month will bring a project to share.  I didn’t have time to get anything done for them, but the Hostess did.  Here’s what we made:

Flip Flop Card

I have never made a swing (flip flop) card was so tickled that Terri had this as her project.  The great thing about the Hostess bringing a project is that I get to learn something too!

During the weekend I also finished up a tutorial I have written for Splitcoaststampers.  It appears this Wednesday and here’s a sneak peek.  Do you know what it is?

Yesterday I had my follow up with the doctor.  Things are good!  The best part is . . . I’ve lost 9 pounds!  WOO HOO!  I go back again in three months, which is a good thing because it will keep me aware of the food plan I’m on.

I think that’s about all the catch up news I have for you.  Except that tomorrow is the Rubbernecker Wacky Wednesday #2 Challenge.  Kittie has a great challenge for us!

I hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Smiley from millan.net It occurred to me yesterday, that my mother is having a birthday on Friday.  I’ve had it marked on my calendar, knew it was this weekend but it still snuck up on me.

I’ve been a little shaky this week with my coloring and decided it was time for some stampy work.  You remember, that stuff we used to do before designer paper became all the rage.  When you gathered your beloved background stamps, picked up some ink and went crazy.  It’s still my favorite way to stamp . . .  Just not so popular as it was a few years back.  I do think it helps get the creative juices flowing sometimes, and that’s what I need right now. My mother has always loved anything I made with Roses in Winter (my most beloved retired SU set).  When I found it in the cabinet, guess what other set was right there with it?  Petal Prints of course!  Love these two sets together so it didn’t surprise me when they were together in the cabinet.

I think I can show you this card because my mother, even though she has a computer and internet, hasn’t figured it all out yet.

Mom RIW

All the flowers were stamped with Ranger Distress Inks, the roses rock-n-rolled with Spiced Marmalade and Aged Mahogany.  Once I had the flowers stamped, I lightly over stamped En Francais and then splattered the whole panel with Dusty Concord and Fired Brick.  Too much fun!

On the inside, I stamped one of my favorite Stamp Oasis sentiments, “May your Heart always be Young and your Dreams live forever.”

Happy Tuesday!  Hope everyone had a great day yesterday.  I had some errands to run in the afternoon and never truly got started stamping until the evening.  I sat down to color some new images that I have recently received, and ya know . . . the coloring mojo just wasn’t with me.  However, I did feel like doing something!  I looked around the room and remembered that I had colored an image some months ago and never got around to doing anything with it.

Well, I finally got it done.  I picked up this peony stamp from Just For Fun back last summer at Stamp Away Cincinnati.  I love the image and it was so fun to color . . . well at least that’s what I remember.

JFF Peony

I wanted the red of the peony to stand out, so I chose to keep my card the colors of the sky and leaves.  Flannel Plaid (which is my all time favorite background to use with florals) was stamped on the background and the panel was scored every inch on the diagonals.  To highlight the scoring, I decided to sponge on a little Antique Linen Distress Ink.  Once I did that, the sky background of the peony was just too darn bright, so I added some Antique Linen there as well to dull the colors.  I truly tried to make this card with no sponging at all, but darn it all . . . I just couldn’t help myself.  I didn’t add a sentiment on the outside, because I wanted the card to be for any occasion that I might need it.

  • Stamps: Peony from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps; Flannel Plaid from SU
  • Paper: Prism Herbal Garden Medium; SU Cool Caribbean and Basic Black; Neenah Classic Crest Solar White
  • Ink: Ranger Adirondack Pitch Black and Antique Linen Distress; SU Cool Caribbean

Thanks for stopping by today!

I can’t believe that Christmas is so close!  I actually didn’t realize it, until Kate came in today and was talking about the Christmas Eve Menu.  When I told her I really hadn’t thought much about it, she informed me as only Kate can . . . Well mom, it’s next week!  What are you waiting for?  Hmmmmm, couldn’t answer that one except that I thought I had one more week . . . . and guess what?  I don’t!

So anyway, Kate came delivering a spiral sliced ham that she received at work this week . . . along with various other items.  WOO HOO at the least ham is here!  While she was here, we decided to head up to Kohl’s and do some Christmas shopping.  Actually I went up to look for a certain skillet and when I didn’t find it, I ended up getting the guys in the family their presents.

Of course, it also dawned on me today that since I only have one week (and not the two I thought), that I NEED to get some presents made.  So starting tomorrow, I will be switching into mega-stamping present mode.  In the meantime, I’ve had one other idea running through my head that I just had to get made.  After I posted this star santa, I received in the mail the Stars 5 Nestabilities from Spellbinders.   So this evening I just had to try making my own Star Santa ornament.

Star Santa Ornament WM

The very first Christmas set I ever purchased from Stampin’ Up! was Star Santa.  Yes, I still have it and will never part with it.  But I just knew when I saw the Stars 5, that the Star Santa would definitely work.  The ornament is made with the 3 largest dies in the Stars 5 set.  I cut two pieces of thin chipboard with the largest star die and painted them both with gold acrylic paint.  I taped the ribbon to the backside of one of the stars, and then glued them together using Ranger Glossy Accents.  This gave me the hanger that I needed for the tree, as well as making a sturdier ornament.  I colored Santa with Copic Markers, die cut the image out, and then started working on his suit.

SB Star Santa Ornament Closeup

I don’t know if you can tell from the above picture, but his beard and fur on his suit were painted with Tulip White Puffy Dimensional Fabric Paint.  I sprinkled glitter on the fur while the paint was still wet, and then heated all of it with my heat gun.  I knew I had some jingle bells somewhere in my stash, and after a 30 minute search I found them in the top of the closet.  Luckily these two were already attached to the gold ribbon so I grabbed them out and tied them into the bow.

Hope ya’ll had a great day today and you’re not like me thinking that you have more than a week left for the holiday prep!  Duh . . . just slap me upside the head!
