Good morning and Smiley from millan.net. For those of you following my saga of my neighbor’s tree, well today could be the day . . . we are expecting wind gusts up to 60 mph. Mr. Stodgy, upon hearing today’s forecast, took some pictures up to our insurance company so that they had notice of the tree and our garage.  Of course, I’m looking at this as a means of redecorating . . . Mr. Stodgy not so much.  Can you even imagine?Smiley from millan.net  Hey maybe I’ll finally get that Smiley from millan.net  Mr. Stodgy was talking about parking his vehicle in the front of the house last night so that he could get out in the morning . . . just in case!  I told him my car was going to stay were it was Smiley from millan.net

Now that I’ve had my folly, lets get to Tag 6 of T!m’s Smiley from millan.net 12  Tags of Christmas.  Hey, I’m catching up  . . . almost!  Another day or two like yesterday in the studio and I’ll be smokin’!  Here’s T!m’s Smiley from millan.net Tag 6 (do you think someday there will be a smiling bowing to me  . . . Smiley from millan.net)

Tag6

I truly felt the need to make this tag.  It’s the car, definitely the car . . . AND I don’t even have the stamp!  Whatever am I thinking?  I have one of T!m’s Smiley from millan.net cars, but not this particular one.  Why the car you ask?  Because when I was a little girl my grandfather had a Model T Touring Car . . . no windows except a windshield.  It was great fun when he would pull the car out of the garage and take us for a drive around town.  People would look, stare, wave  . . . we absolutely LOVED it!  He eventually sold that car and purchased a Model A.  It wasn’t as much fun, but it did have heat and windows!  I traveled to many antique car shows with my grandparents in the car . . . top speed, maybe 35/45 mph.  My mother inherited the Model A when my grandfather passed away, storing it at my uncle’s business in Hodgenville.  She recently brought it home and I believe it is now in the possession of my sister and her husband (he’s a car buff too).

Since I didn’t have the stamp, I went on a Google search and found a picture I thought I could substitute.  I printed it out and then glued it down to Grunge Board.  It was cut out and then inked with Vintage Photo and Black Soot Distress Ink to not be so darned photo’ish.  Oh I also covered the tag with some of my favorite script paper from K&Company.  For the snow on the tree, I added some Tulip Puff Paint and sprinkled on sparkly fluff, heat set it and then squashed it a little.  The sentiment is covered with Rock Candy Distress Stickles  . . . I love how glittery it is!

  • Stamps:  Pollen Dust from Fancy Pants Designs; D2615 All Good Cheer and D3074 Snowy Pine from Just For Fun Rubber Stamps

Wow, that was a bunch of accessories and I’m sure I’ve left something out . . . which is par for the course.  Anyhoo, you have a great day and thanks for stopping at the BAD Side for a visit!

Happy Tuesday!  I’d say good morning, but my morning passed before I hit the floor this morning.  Well not really, but by the time I got the coffee going, the pups out and then Mr. Stodgy came in and interrupted my crossword puzzle . . .  it was noon.

As I continue on with T!m’s Smiley from millan.net 12  Tags of Christmas I’m having more and more fun.  Today I have Tag 5 for you  . . . and here’s T!m’s Smiley from millan.net Tag 5.

Tag5

I used copper foil for the top and bottom pieces, die cutting/embossing with Spellbinders™ Classic Lace Border.  To tone down the bright look of the copper, I added some alcohol inks and then brushed on Green Patina Perfect Pearls.  The ornaments are made from Graphic 45 paper.  Even though I forgot to add the copper foil to two of the ornaments (oops), I went around the edges with gold paint.  This was a fun tag to work on!

Happy Saturday!  The Rubbernecker release and Blog Stroll was so much fun and very exciting.  Thanks to all who participated and congratulations to all the winners!

Now that the dust from the past couple of days have settled, I thought it would be fun to check in on the Saturday Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  Today’s inspiration comes from the Grandin Road online store.  I looked at the samples shown in the thread but ended up going online and finding this one:

The minute I saw this piece of wall art I knew exactly what I wanted to do.  Here’s my take:

IC175 Wildflower Inchies

The first thing I did was make the background the inchies are mounted on.  I stamped and embossed the new Abstract Floral Background from Rubbernecker and then sponged the entire panel with Antique Linen Distress Ink.  I then stamped the image panel, cut the panel into 1” squares and mounted the squares on 1” squares made from Chipboard Coasters.  The background behind all this, is the Abstract Floral Background stamped in Antique Linen on white.  At the last minute I decided to distress the edges of the backgrounds and sponge everything with Antique Linen.  To finish off the card and even though you can’t see it very well in the photo, I tied an old button from my stash onto melted ribbon.

Thanks for stopping in today and Smiley from millan.net

With all the hustle and bustle recently I haven’t stayed on top of what’s going on around me. I know I’m a few days late, but there are some exciting challenges going on over a Splitcoaststampers. It’s Dare to Get Dirty 2008! Dirty Dozen Designers, both past and present, have some exciting challenges planned this week for all the Fan Club Members. You can find more deets here!

Because of my travel schedule, I didn’t host or make samples for any of the challenges, however I am getting to play along. Today’s challenges are hosted by Lauren Meader and Jenn Balcer.

This is the card I made for Lauren’s challenge.

I started with Neenah Classic Crest Solar White paper and misted different colors of Shimmer Mist containing Gold Perfect Pearls on the paper. The cornucopia and sentiment were stamped in Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then embossed with Queen’s Gold Embossing Powder. The image panel was then cut out with Spellbinders Oval Nestabilities and layered on one cut with the scalloped edge.

  • Stamps: Give Thanks from Our Daily Bread Designs
  • Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White; Prism Bronze and Bronze Ore Metallic Paper
  • Ink: Ranger Tim Holtz Vintage Photo, Scattered Straw, Dried Marigold and Embossing Distress
  • Accessories: Ranger Mini Mister, Gold Perfect Pearls, and Queen’s Gold Embossing Power; Tsukineko Sponge Dauber; Ribbon

My second card today is for Jenn’s challenge.

I used the emboss resist technique in making the background for this card. The flourishes were stamped in Snow Cap pigment ink and then embossed with UTEE. After the images where dry, I used an ink blending tool and worked Black Soot Distress Ink over the paper. Once I had the desired black, I wiped the excess ink from the embossed images. Oh I should say that this is the new Tim Holtz set that we received during our Ranger class at CHA!

  • Stamps: Tim Holtz Nature’s Discovery from Stampers Anonymous
  • Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White and SU Basic Black
  • Ink: Ranger Snow Cap Pigment, Archival Jet Black and Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress
  • Accessories: Ranger Clear UTEE and Ink Blending Tool; Ribbon; Mounting Tape

I guess that’s it for me today. I’m still somewhat tired from the trip and I so feel a nap coming on!

I’m tellin’ ya. This week has just been a blur for me. Once again the pups woke me up at 6:30, and I wasn’t ready to get up. Here’s the thing. They are crated at night in the family room. Lance gets up early, really early – like 5:00 a.m., and takes the dogs out in the morning. After they’ve come in from their morning walk, they get a treat, and then they come barreling into my bedroom and jump up on the bed. My bedroom door doesn’t latch tight, and all they have to do is nudge the door and in they come. It would be nice if they could just lay there, but NO – they have to lick my face, my ears, walk all over me and whine a little. The last two mornings there was nothing I could do but get up with them. Of course, I’m still so tired that I’ve sacked out on the couch and taken a nap within an hour of getting up. Of course, if I could make myself go to bed at a decent hour every night, that might help. Don’t ya think? I think I need to work on adjusting my internal clock!

Last night I was up working on projects for my Saturday morning Stamp Club Meeting. I’ve been torn on what projects to give the girls to do, and still haven’t worked them all up yet. I like to give them four, one being an altered item, but this month I’m really at a loss. I’ve pulled some Stampin’ UP! Sets out that I think might be fun, but nothing is coming to mind for them.

One idea I got last night, was to make a tag with them, one that I would demo at a show, only using SU images. This was my second attempt, the first being tossed into the garbage because it was too dark.

Tres Chic Tag

From the Garden was painted with a Copper Acrylic Paint Dabber, and stamped directly onto the tag. After it had dried, and using pad to paper, the remaining tag was colored with Soft Sky, River Rock and Groovy Guava. Because the acrylic paint works as a resist, the ink comes right off leaving color onto the tag only. The background Tres Chic was stamped in Walnut Stain Distress Ink and then the butterflies and flairs were stamped in Ruby Red. A Shimmer Mist of River Rock and Copper Perfect Pearls was misted over the tag and then the edges were distressed and sponged in Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I inked the Grunge Board heart with Ruby Red and the Grunge Board Wings were painted with Old Paper Crackle Paint and glued them together using Ranger Glossy Accents. Before placing them on the tag, I misted the heart and wings with the Shimmer Mist. For added embellishment, I found this old earing in my jewelry stash, removed the post end and tied it on the tag with the ribbon.
