Well, another week comes to an end and my baby leaves me in a few days . . . She starts her Teach for America training next week . . . it’s starting to hit this mom that her baby is going to be states and states away very soon.  Shhh don’t tell her though . . . I’ll be taking over her bedroom as a new stamping area.

The other day when I was playing around with techniques, I did two of the Faux Batik/Bleach images.  One I showed you yesterday, and the other I have for today.

ODBPoppyCard

The image was stamped and embossed in clear embossing ink, then water colored with Aged Mahogany, Peeled Paint and Broken China Distress Ink Refills.  Once the image was dry (and I had to let it air dry because of the embossing), the embossing was ironed away (Faux Bleach/Batik Technique).

You can barely see it in the photo above, but while the image was still in the circle die template, the inside was lightly sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

Oh and before I forget, I followed the Deconstructed Sketch No. 53.  I found it in a search the other night, printed it out and decided to try it today.  It’s been so long since I’ve followed sketches (well since my SCS Challenge Chaser days) and after looking back through my work for the last few years . . . I need to change things up and try new sketches!  PLUS, I find that I have some free time now too . . .  loving that!

That’s it for me . . . I hope you have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by today!   I’m going to help Mallory pack a little (if she needs me) and start working on my Spellbinders CHA projects.

When Mallory saw my card for today, the first thing she said was “looks like one of your old cards.”  Exactly . . .

Maybe it’s the ribbon I used . . .

or maybe it was actually trying to stick to a sketch I found online (Bev Rochester) . . .

I think it might be the old SU Baja Breeze ribbon I used because I wanted it to match the cardstock . . . . AND I couldn’t come up with anything else that I liked at the time.  (Plus I wanted to use something other than the seam binding I’ve been using.)

The designer paper is My Mind’s Eye – Blink of an Eye.

The image was embossed with clear embossing powder, then water colored with Distress Ink Refills:  Spiced Marmalade, Tumbled Glass and Peeled Paint.

The embossing was ironed away (Faux Bleach/Batik Technique) before the image was die cut/embossed.  While the paper was still in the die template, Antique Linen was stenciled very lightly around the edges toward the middle.

I’ll be spending the rest of today getting my class supplies and kits ready to be shipped to The Queen’s Ink for following weekend.  There’s still some room in the classes if any of you are in the area and would like to spend a couple of hours with me laughing and having a good time!

Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, enjoy the adventures that come your way today!
