Good morning!  Well, it’s still damn cold here and the weather reports predict more snow for tomorrow.   I’m crossing all 10 fingers and 9 toes that the weather holds off because we have tickets to Derby Dinner Playhouse tomorrow night and I really don’t want to fight the weather to get home.  I want my biggest worry of the night to be finding something to fit this big ass of mine.  Quit smoking . . . . an automatic 15 pounds . . . oh joy!  But I suppose it’s better to have clear, smoke-free lungs and worry about the extra weight after the holidays . . . at least that’s what I’m telling myself!

I had a big surprise the other day!  I left a comment on Wendy Vecchi’s blog and lucky me, she decided to give away prizes that day and picked me to receive some goodies!  Stuff like this never happens to me and quite frankly I truly don’t try to win blog giveaways.  I left her a comment because I really, really liked the gift card she posted and just had to  let her know . . .

I received two sets in the mail from Wendy, and I didn’t have either one of them . . .  I was so tickled since I’ve been trying to build up my Studio 490 collection.  Today’s card uses one of the new ones I received, Botanical Art.

I inked up the flower image with Peeled Paint, Fired Brick and a touch of Aged Mahogany Distress Inks, misted with water and then stamped on watercolor paper.  The script over-stamping is the background from Studio 490Live and Make Art, stamped in Antique Linen.

Once I decided on the paper I was using, Kaiser Kraft – Up, Up and Away (from Stamp Simply Ribbon Store), I decided the Peeled Paint was a little off, so I added some sage ink with a watercolor brush.  It’s okay, but I’m sorry I did it.

A little sewing and some Striped May Arts Twill along with my favorite card layout and it was done.  I left the inside blank for now.  A sentiment can be added later when the card is used.

While I was digging for some stuff for this card, I had a brain storm (yes, it hurt) for a simple and easy Christmas card.  Have I done mine yet?  NO!!!!  Now that I have this idea though, I think I might.

One more thing before I go . . . another E-Team mission . . . Tomorrow!  Make sure you join us for this hop . . . its one you don’t want to miss.  Something about brown paper, string, last minute ideas . . . you get the idea, right?

So thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, have great adventures today!

Happy Saturday!  Hope you’re having a good weekend so far.  I met Kate over in Clarksville this afternoon and I swear I’m not going shopping again unless it’s during the week.  The best part though was seeing all the little ones lined up to see Santa  . . . way too much fun!

I’ve been drawing a blank on projects the last few days . . . not really knowing what I wanted to do.  This always happens to me when I’ve been working on something big . . . it normally takes me a few days to get back in the swing of it all.  Those big projects . . .  they’re a secret . . . you’ll see more of them in January!  I know it’s a long time to wait, but if you’re a Spellbinders™ fan the wait will be well worth it!

I decided on a simple card today.  It’s made with one of my new Studio 490 sets – Art-Fully Said.  This set has been on my wish list forever and I finally broke down and purchased it a few weeks ago.

SherryCheeverArtFullySaidDecember11(3)

I colored the flower image with Tombow Markers, misted it with water and then stamped it on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White.  The background from the set was stamped over the flower in Antique Linen Distress Inks.  The flower was then die cut/embossed with S4-138 Petite Ovals – Large and layered on a panel of black die cut/embossed with S4-139 Petite Scalloped Ovals – Large.

My border is made with S4-239 Classic Scalloped Borderabilities® Petite and the ribbon is May Arts from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.   AND hey . . . did you noticed I sewed?  I feel like I haven’t used my sewing machine in months!

Well, I’m off.  Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Good Friday morning!  Yesterday . . .  oh my BADness yesterday!  Even though I’m still in the throws of getting projects together for CHA, I got this burr to clean and organize the studio.  I’ve been throwing stuff around and not putting it away for weeks.  Earlier this week I threw my hands up when I couldn’t find a tool I had just used.  SO yesterday I cleaned and organized.  I moved things around, I brought in a desk for the computer, I made myself a little cave  . . . I LOVE it.  I still have much to put away and/or throw out.  I finally quit when the ankles started to hurt . . . . plus, I knew I needed to make a card for today’s Just For Fun® Friday Color Challenge.

We’re doing something new with the Color Challenge this week.  The prize will be $50.00 in free product.  The amount will not be cumulative and does not carry over.  In essence, if you only spend $30 then that’s it.  The other $20 cannot be used at a later time.

This week, I challenged the Design Team to use some of my favorite colors.

We would love to have you play along with us!  You don’t have to use Just For Fun® stamps, especially if you don’t have any yet.  However, if you do play along, you might just be the lucky winner of a $50 shopping spree!   All you have to do is make a card/project using the above colors and post a direct link on the Just For Fun® Blog.

For further inspiration, you should also visit the blogs of the other Designers. They’ve got some awesome projects to share with you today.

Now for my card!  While cleaning yesterday I ran across this image that I had used in a prior tutorial – Misting with Markers.  I decided that since my stamps were spread out all over and too hard to get to, that I would use the image.

JFFCC18

I used watercolor paper to make the background with the Wrinkle Free Distress technique, using blue, green and purple inks.  While the paper was still slightly damp, I embossed it with * Impressabilities.  Here’s a close up of the embossing.

Happy Monday!  I’ve done something for today that will Smiley from millan.net and amaze you . . . CLEAN AND SIMPLE!  No, I don’t have a fever just enjoying a challenge.  Last week at my Copic Certification we were having a discussion about CAS and how hard it was for me to do.  I can fly through a vintage/distressed/grungy type of card in no time flat.  My fingers fly and my mind runs wild!  However with CAS it literally takes me forever and then I hate it so much that it never gets used (and you probably never see it).  I was challenged, yes challenged by Jennifer Buck and Dawn Lusk to do simple . . . well at least I took it as a challenge.Smiley from millan.net

Now I have to tell you, this card took me all of about 10-15 minutes . . . I’m AMAZED!  Granted I’ve been thinking about for a day or so but for me to actually stop . . . and I mean stop.  No Ribbon!  No Embellishments of any kind!  No sponging!  Honestly I had to sit on my hands and say to myself . . . YOU HAVE DONE IT! Smiley from millan.net Not only did I have a CAS Card, but also one in a smaller size than I normally make . . . okay, okay . . . I might have a fever!

I also know that Monday is the CAS Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  I decided to check it out before I headed to the studio and guess what . . . it was flowers!  My card fit this challenge perfectly so I ran with it!

SherryCheeverCASMothersDayMay3

Using one of my favorite Penny Black stamps (and one that is screaming for attention) I colored the image with Tombow Markers, misted with water and then die/cut and embossed the image with Oval Nesties®.  I cut a piece of white cardstock to 8-1/2 x 4-1/4 and embossed one half of it with the Flourish Impressabilities™.  That’s it!  I placed the image on the card with foam mounting tape and then sat on my hands!

That’s all I have for now, but I’m sure I’ll be back.  At least I’m hoping so today!  In any event, I’m glad you stopped by and remember life is short . . . enjoy each adventure that comes you’re way!

Smiley from millan.net Good Friday morning!  I can’t believe I haven’t been in the studio all week.  Okay wait, I take that back!  I was in there Wednesday when I prepped and packed up for my last class at Lavender SentimentsLavender Sentiments is closing and I’ve enjoyed my classes so much, that I’ve decided to have them here in my home!  If you are in the Southern Indiana/Louisville, KY area and want some info on the classes, send me an email.  I’ll add you to my mailing list!  I’ll be updating and changing my class page in the next day or so.

I also can’t  believe that we are already on the Just For Fun® 6th Color Challenge!  I think we are picking up new players each week and I for one have enjoyed seeing all your cards  . . . way too much fun!  Let’s see what you can do with these!

I was a little apprehensive about these colors, but I’ve got to tell  . . . I really liked working with them!

JFFCC6April9

The first thing I did was pick my designer paper (Pink Paislee 365 Degrees) then picked my image.  I colored the image with markers, misted with water, stamped on white, then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders™ S4-140 Petite Ovals – Small.  My background image, Grain & Coal, was stamped in Pumice Stone Distress Ink on a white shipping tag then die/cut embossed with Spellbinders™ S4-202 Deckled Rectangles – Large.  The frame around the image was made with Spellbinders™ S4-246 Labels 11.  The edges of all paper were sponged with Old Paper Distress Ink.

Make sure you stop by the other JFF Designers participating today and leave them a little lovin’.  I know they love comments as much as I do!
