Happy Saturday!  I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying your weekend so far.  I finally made it down to the studio this morning and am busy working away.  I’m leaving for Texas this coming week, and I’m trying to get some projects done before I go.  I’ve taken a short break because I want to share one card with you today.

I finally got around to doing this week’s Color and Sketch Challenges on Splitcoaststampers.  I’ve had this idea in mind ever since I saw the Color Challenge on Tuesday, but other things had to take precedent.   It also didn’t hurt that I could utilize the Sketch Challenge with my idea.

SC197 and CC187

The images were colored with Copic Markers and then punched with a one inch square punch.  The background panels were stamped with the plaid image from the set.  The sentiment was die cut with Spellbinders Shapeabilities Tags.  Can you find the subtle humor in the card?

  • Stamps: Anna Wight’s Harvest Blessings from Whipper Snapper Designs
  • Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White; SU Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango and Chocolate Chip
  • Ink: Ranger Adirondack Pitch Black, Archival Jet Black and Vintage Photo Distress
  • Accessories: Copic Markers; Spellbinders Shapeabilities Ribbon Tags Trio; Square Punches; Ribbon; Brads; Tsukineko Sponge Dauber

I hope you have a great weekend!

Good afternoon!  Yes, I’m running a little behind this morning.  Miss Ellie needed to go to the vet this morning for her annual check up.  She was happy to go for a car ride, but none too happy with me when we arrived at the vets’ office.  I don’t think she’ll come running the next time I shout “car ride – let’s go.”

When I got back from my “little errand,” I checked out the Ways to Use it Challenge on Splitcoast.  I’ve tried to get to the challenges all week, and I did get to the Sketch, but today’s was just perfect.  The challenge today is to use a charm on your project.  A few years ago I bought tons of those little dollar charm bracelets at the flea market and tore them all apart.  I have a stash of charms.  However, all the new ones that I just purchased at Tuesday Morning, I can’t find.  CRS?  Maybe!  Unorganized?  Maybe!  Just really forgetful?  You bet!  Anyhoo, here’s my card today.

I colored the image with Copic Markers and then cut the panels for the image with my square Nestabilities.  I sanded the edges of all the background paper and added dots with a white opaque pen.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

Happy Monday!  Yes, my power is back and I’m enjoying my coffee sitting on my own couch.  I did travel to Chicago over the weekend and worked the Rubber Stamp Expo in the Rubbernecker Booth.   I met some of my fellow SCS’ers who stopped by the booth, but alas we didn’t take that first picture.  Unreal I know!

Since I had to leave for Chicago the very minute my power was restored, I’m playing catch up this week.  I missed the release of Anna’s new sets from Whipper Snapper Designs last Monday, so that was my first order of business today.

Hay Chick

The images were colored with Copic Markers and the edges were sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  The background paper, Memory Box Homespun Collection, was sewn to the card front after the edges were sponged in Vintage Photo.

Have a great day!

It’s Smiley from millan.net afternoon, the start of a long Holiday weekend. Mallory will be home early evening with all her laundry. That means I need to get mine finished up this afternoon so that the laundry room isn’t too big a mess. I’ve only been trying to get it done all week. Ah well, the best intentions often go astray . . . especially if one suffers from CRS! I know when I started writing this post that I actually had a point. What it was, I don’t remember. Here’s what happened . . . open Word Perfect, start typing; let dogs out; reheat something for lunch; get email about Labor Day Sale; think about post; let dogs in; get lunch from the microwave; oops cokes in the garage – go get them; get paper while in the garage in case there is a sale ad; stare at computer screen; fight the little shitz’ off my lap while eating; think about this post; clean dishes; stare at computer screen some more; check paper, no ad; stare at computer screen and realize . . . what the hell am I doing? I don’t remember! There you have it . . . CRS!

I know there is a card somewhere in here, because it has only taken me 2 days to finish one. Yesterday’s Ways to Use it Challenge was to use colored pencils. Great challenge! I haven’t used them in so long and was looking forward to it. I colored an image, made a card – hated it, threw it in the garbage. Started a second image and it just wasn’t working for me either. Into the garbage it went. Last night after dinner I gave it another try. The image worked but I left it and said enough for one day. This morning, when I checked on today’s Limited Supply Challenge, I knew that I could finish my card today. So, here is my card – three challenges rolled into one! This week’s SCS Sketch (layout was something borrowed), Ways to Use It (using colored pencils) and Limited Supply Challenge (something new, something old, something borrowed, something blue).

My something new: stamps from Whipper Snapper and paper from StarLitStudio. Something borrowed: the SCS sketch from this week. Something old: Textile CB Embossing folder and Prismacolor Colored Pencils. Something blue: the little butterfly in the image.

  • Stamps: Anna Wight’s Blossoms and Butterflies from Whipper Snapper Designs
  • Paper: 7 Gypsies Henna from Morocco Journey; SU Chocolate Chip; Prism Papaya Puree; Neenah Classic Crest Solar White
  • Ink: Ranger Archival Jet Black and Vintage Photo Distress
  • Accessories: Spellbinders Wizard; Cuttlebug Textile Embossing Folder; Prismacolor Colored Pencils; Turpenoid; Blending Stumps; Tsukineko Sponger Dauber; Brads; Ribbon

I’m going to finish the laundry before I get into something else, and I forget again. Don’t ya just hate it when you have a load in the wash that you started 3 days ago and you forget all about it? I hope you have a great Labor Day Weekend! Hey and don’t forget about my Twisted Humor Challenge . . . I so need some good laughs!

Oh my badness, what a day we’ve had today! Carolyn King (cammie on SCS) and Sharon Coleman (stampscout on SCS) came to Jeanne’s this morning. Carolyn came to hang with us for a couple of hours, but Sharon came to stay the entire day. I had already met Carolyn earlier this week and she is just to durn cute and such a gorgeous smile! Sharon was one of the Original Challenge Chasers on SCS, along with Jeanne, myself and a few others. I had talked to her every day for a couple of years, and had never met her until today!! I met an Instant Friend today – WOO HOO!!!! We had so much to talk about and catch up on. I knew we had a lot in common, but to be able to sit side by side and chat – OMG what a thrill!

Sharon and Carolyn both wanted coloring lessons today. So we started out coloring with reinkers/stamp pads. When we broke for lunch, Carolyn had to leave us, but I was able to take this picture before she did. From left to right are Jeanne, Sharon, Carolyn and myself.

After lunch, we colored some more, moving into Prismacolor Pencils and then Copic Markers. We all got at least one card done today, but got a few more images colored ready to go on others. Here’s Jeanne, the teacher, giving Sharon lessons on different styles of coloring and blending.

When Sharon left today, I could have cried (well actually, I did get a little weepy feeling, but held back the tears). I gave her a big hug goodbye and hope to visit another time!!!! What a great day today!!!!! Oh and get this, I actually said ya’ll out loud today! I haven’t done that in years – well since I moved from my hometown near Louisville (pronounced lou-a-vul) and moved to the Chicago area.

When we were coloring with the reinkers this morning, I couldn’t resist Jeanne’s Whippersnapper stamps any longer. After I colored the image, I checked on today’s Color Challenge on Splitcoast and decided I could make it work with the challenge. The background paper is the new BasicGrey Figgy Pudding that I found at Jacksonbelle Embellishments.
