Good morning and Smiley from millan.net!  What a day I had yesterday . . . dentist appointment, sleep appointment with more testing and sorority last night.  Good times for sure!

The other night I sat here in the studio water coloring images and watching television.  Surprisingly enough when I checked in on the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge yesterday one of the images would work perfectly with the colors.

I started putting the card together last night when I came in, but had to wait to finish it this morning.  Of course, I did go with one of my standby layouts . . . I hadn’t checked in on the today’s Sketch Challenge yet.  I’ll be back with that one later.  I already have an idea!  Anyhoo, here’s my card for the Color Challenge.

CC207

The image was colored with various colors of Ranger Distress Reinkers.  The image and bottom layers were then die cut and embossed using Spellbinders Nestabilities.  I am out of SU Pumpkin Pie paper (I only had a small little scrap left), so I substituted Prism papers for the card and used BasicGrey Mellow for the background.

Well the dogs are running down wanting their walk.  I hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Happy Friday! I’m still rolling with laughter reading the BAD stories for the Blog Candy, please keep them coming. You have until midnight tonight and the winner will be announced tomorrow morning. I also noticed this morning that something has happened to all my email subscribers so I am assuming that there is a slight glitch somewhere. If you are a subscriber and are not receiving email updates, please let me know.

Today’s card is for the Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoast. The object today was to use flower stamps, sentiments, up to two backgrounds, Soft Subtles, Rich Reals or neutrals and up to two colors or kinds of ribbon. After I finished the card, I think I may have strayed from the challenge because I used brads. I didn’t notice this until after I had set the first three and there was just no way I was going to go back and change it (hehe)!

I used my favorite Penny Black floral stamp, colored the image with markers, misted with water and stamped the image out three times. The edges were sponged with Mellow Moss and then layered. The Well-Worn Words background is stamped with Almost Amethyst on Whisper White cardstock, the edges were distressed with the blade of my scissors and then sponged with Mellow Moss. There is a small layer of Mellow Moss behind it and that is then layered on the white. For some reason today I’m liking the stark white with these colors. The sentiment was colored with marker and then stamped and layered. It is up on a piece of mounting tape for an added dimension.

Well it’s Tuesday, and I’m still Sydney sitting while Kate works. Not easy to get stamping done when you’ve got a puppy under your feet every time you turn around. Poor thing almost got stepped on a couple of times this morning! It’s also Color Challenge day on Splitcoast. Cool colors today. I didn’t think I was going to like them, but hey – not too bad together! Today’s Challenge is to use Cool Caribbean, Cranberry Crisp, More Mustard and Old Olive (optional). Best of Cluck just happened to be out on my counter this morning, so that was the first set I reached for. The image is stamped on watercolor paper with Black Stazon and then water colored with reinkers. Once again I used Flannel Plaid as my background (think I probably need to look for some more rustic background stamps). Instead of brads today, I used twine in each of the corners, and then ran it around the layer, tying it off on the right side. Had some little spools of wire that I thought might add an interesting look, and wrapped a few pieces of that around the twine. The Happy Birthday tag is made using a piece of scrap of the watercolor paper, punched out with the word punch, hand wrote the sentiment and then layered. Ran a little piece of wire through the top and attached it to the twine. Most of the edges have been distressed using the edge of my little scissors and then sponged with Ranger Walnut Distress Ink. Little different for me today, but it was fun just playing around.

Well, I have sorority tonight. It’s a pitch-in dinner so I guess I better be heading off to Meijers to get the stuff to make deviled eggs! While I’m there, think I’ll look for some blog candy too!!! Hope everyone has a great day today!

Normally, I don’t have time to do the weekend challenges on Splitcoast but today’s Inspiration Challenge was just too good! The minute I saw the inspiration piece, I knew that I had to use Doodle This and Doodle That. Now I’ve been playing with these two sets for the last couple of days, and everything I’ve done has ended up in the trash bin. I went with a different approach today. First off, the base of the card is 140 lb. watercolor paper and the images are stamped directly on the card. Yep, Miss Layers here has once again done a one layer card! Using reinkers, I got my favorite water color brushes and went to work – I’m pretty pleased with the results, except for that ribbon (which might be replaced a little a later).

Inspirational Doodles

Stamps: Doodle This, Doodle That, Small Script

Ink: Tempting Turquoise, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, YoYo Yellow, Pink Passion

Wow was VSN fun last night!!!! I’m ready to carry on today! I’ll have some new stamping stuff for you later, but want to encourage everyone to join us on Splitcoast for Virtual Stamp Night. It’s guaranteed fun! Grab some snacks, something to drink and join us for a stamp fest!
