Happy Friday! It’s already been a busy day here. Mallory and I made a trip to Target to purchase the remaining, much needed , items for her room at school. She moves in Monday, so I’ll be making the long road trip to help her move in and finish purchasing the groceries, etc., that she and her roommates will need. Because she is only home for a few more days, I had a date with my daughters last night. We went out to dinner and then to see Mama Mia. Oh wow – I LOVED it! It’s one of those movies that I will need to watch over and over again. I will be making a purchase when it comes out on DVD – when couldn’t be soon enough!

Yesterday on my walk to the pond, I did see hundreds of little bitty frogs. Mallory was correct. With every step you took, little frogs were jumping everywhere. I never did get a decent picture, but I did run into some guy feeding the fish. He told me if I wanted good pictures to come back in the evening around 8 or 8:30. He did point out the resident goldfish for me. Someone in the neighborhood must have cleaned out their fish bowl.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed or not, but I have been in the process of slowing narrowing down the Design Teams I have been on. I have so enjoyed working for all the great companies, and their owners, but for me it was time for a change. There are so many other things that I would like to pursue, and one of them is just stamping for the fun of it. It seems like I haven’t truly stamped for fun in such a long time. I was watching how many uploads I had for this company as compared to how many for another company, and when I made a card there was always a purpose. In our little world of paper crafting and design, there is so much available that wasn’t when I started stamping. I want to explore it all and have fun while doing it.

Today I had fun! I stamped a card for the Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoast, Think Snowman, without needing to make a card. I dug through the boxes of stamps in my cabinet. The long forgotten ones that haven’t seen ink, or even daylight for that matter, in a very long time. The one I finally decided to use is from Northwoods. Actually, I’ve never used it and I’ve had the stamp for over a year – AND, I even made a twinchie! Not to be confused with an inchie (which is 1″ square), a twinchie is 2″ square. I’ve been making these forever, and didn’t even realize it – BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

The card is 4×4 and the background is made with scraps of my favorite holiday paper, BasicGrey Figgy. I lightly distressed the edges of the paper, and sponged on a bit of Vintage Photo Distress Ink. The snowman was colored with Copic Markers, with some stickles added to his hat. For the snow I used Tulip White Puffy Paint, applying it directly from the bottle to the image. Once it was puffed, it was a little too puffy, so I pressed down on it with my thumb to flatten it just a bit.

  • Stamps: Snowman from Northwoods Rubber Stamps
  • Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White; SU Red Riding Hood; BasicGrey Figgy
  • Ink: Ranger Adirondack Pitch Black and Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress
  • Accessories: Copic Markers; Tulip White Puffy Paint; Ranger Stickles; Tonic Tim Holtz Distress Tool; Tsukineko Sponge Dauber; Venture Foam Tape

I hope you have a great day and enjoy whatever it is you have planned!

Good Friday morning! It hardly seems that this week should be over and I’m still chasing myself. You know, I might get caught up one day, but I truly doubt it. I need to have about two uninterrupted days in the stamp room. Make that three days. It is such a mess at the moment that I can’t find anything. I still have all these unmounted images all over the place that need to be cataloged and put away. Jeanne will be back this coming Tuesday (we are heading to CHA) and she doesn’t have a place to work right now. Actually that mess has to be cleaned today, because I have Stamp Club tomorrow.

Sydney is still with Kate. I checked in last night and she seems to be doing better, but it’s still too early to bring her home. Well, maybe she is home because she is Kate’s dog. Who knows, Kate may decide to keep Syd after all . . . if she does, I’m sure we’ll be looking at that new pup Mallory is dying for. Oh please . . . one more dog is all I need. But then again, I’m traveling so someone else has to take care of them while I’m gone. They won’t be satisfied until there is a herd of 30 running around!

I had a heads up on today’s SCS Limited Supply Challenge, but just by a few minutes. I did get my card done and uploaded to my SCS Gallery, but didn’t get the blog post written before uploading. I normally do that. Write my blog post and then upload to SCS. It was just too late and I was a little mushy headed. Today’s challenge is to make a card with a summer theme. One of my favorite places is the beach, so I had to make a beach card.

I decided to use one of the new Kittie Kits and break out my reinkers for a change. I painted the water, sand and sky first, laying down a light layer of color. All the images were stamped in brown, and I went over the sea oats with greens. The chair was stamped over the sand in the same color of browns, then painted in darker colors. To add some highlight to the water, I lightly brushed/dabbed on some Tulip Puffy Paint and then heat set it. To finish the card, and because we were limited on layers and no designer paper. Do you think they realize what they are doing to me – no designer paper? Minimum layers? Well, it is a challenge, isn’t it? Anyhoo, to add some interest to the card, I sponged the edges of the layers.

Hope y’all have a great day! I’m moving down to the basement to start picking up. Oh and Carrie if you are reading this, why don’t you come to Stamp Club tomorrow morning?

Happy Fourth of July! I got Jeanne on the plane headed to Texas this morning – but only for about a week, until she flies back for CHA. With the weather somewhat crappy here today, not much is going on. It’s just a nice lazy, holiday weekend. Which means, that there is plenty of organizing and stamping time! WOO HOO!!

I headed down to the rubber room when I returned from the airport, and couldn’t wait to play with some of the new images from High Hopes Rubber Stamps, being released today. They just happened to find their way to my doorstep while I was road trippin’. I’ve also felt challenged deprived, so I had to see what the SCS Limited Supply Challenge was today.

Since it’s the 4th of July, the colors are red, white and blue. But, we are also limited to four layers of paper, four specialty tools or embellishments. I might have stretched the guidelines a little, and used five tools/embellishments . . . . let’s all pretend that the white and black pens are only one tool, okay?

Anyhoo, here’s my card today . . . . Who knows, there might be a few more, depending on how energetic I get.

I stamped the Lil’ Show Girl, masked her and then stamped the Show Horse. The images are colored with Copic Markers, and the decorations on the horse’s straps are Perfect Pearls. To add just a tiny bit of glitter to the card, I painted a thin coat of turquoise Stickles on the horse’s plume and the girl’s shoes and dress. The edges of the red panel were sponged with Cranberry and white dots were added with a white opaque pen. To finish off the image panel, I added a few black dots.

  • Stamps: Show Horse, Lil’ Show Girl and Class Act Sentiment from High Hopes Rubber Stamps
  • Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White; SU Real Red and Brilliant Blue
  • Ink: Tsukineko Brilliance Graphite Black; Ranger Archival Jet Black and Adirondack Cranberry
  • Accessories: Copic Markers; Ribbon; Inkssentials White Opaque Pen; Faber-Castell Black Artists Pen; Ranger White Opal Liquid Pearls and Turquoise Stickles; Tsukineko Sponge Dauber

Hope you are enjoying your holiday and spending time with family and friends!

It is my pleasure to host the Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoast today. Late last night, Jen called me and asked if I could fill in as hostess. Luckily I had been in the stamp room working on another Rubbernecker sample for the Akron Show, and could come up with something quick. Jen usually posts at night, and I didn’t want to keep the Challenge Chasers waiting.

After scanning through the weekly challenges, I realized that we had never done a Limited Supply Challenge for a tall and/or long card. This week’s challenge, LSC164 – Long Tall Sally, is to make a long and/or tall card measuring at least 4×8. This size card will fit in a standard letter/business size envelope. You should limit your layers and embellishments, and cannot use Designer Paper. (Okay, so I’m in a stampy mood tonight!)

The images were stamped on white rectangles cut with Rectangle Nestabilities and then colored with Copic Markers. The edges were sponged with Adirondack Slate and then mounted on black Scalloped Rectangles, also cut with Nestabilities. The background panel was made by stamping the rod and reel in Ranger Clear Resist and then layers of different shades of gray inks were added with a sponge dauber.

NEW SIG

Oh my BADness! It’s Friday already! I hope everyone has had a good week and you’re all set to enjoy your weekend. You guys absolutely ROCK! I had more responses and emails yesterday that were so helpful. I’ve come to believe that so many of you that responded that I might have a trigger finger – I think you are correct. I did some research and it appears to be just that! I will be seeing my physician. I also have to give a big shout out for those of you who inquired about my wheat free diet. I have so enjoyed the emails back and forth and all the information that we have exchanged. I feel like I have made new friends! THANKS TO EVERYONE!!

I mentioned earlier in the week that you want to check back here on April 1st that Rubbernecker Stamp Company would be releasing a line of stamps. I can’t reveal anything about them yet, but I can tell you that the Design Team has been having so much fun working on samples and previews for you. Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if you don’t see some sneak peeks appearing on some blogs Monday. Fun, fun, fun!

Believe it or not, I actually pulled myself out of bed earlier today, and decided to spend the morning in the hot tub with my morning coffee. Actually, it was to help with my finger and my back, but oh my gosh – I had forgotten how much I enjoy the mornings lolling in the tub. It seems with the pups running around I haven’t been taking advantage of just lolling around. However, they are spending a few days of Spring Break on the river with Kate and the draw was just too much this morning. I felt totally invigorated!

So, with all this energy this morning I headed to the stamp room earlier than normal. I loved today’s Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoast. The object of the challenge today is to use an embellishment that you purchased because you just had to have it, and then wondered why did you ever buy that to begin with. Well, I have plenty of embellishments that fit this challenge. The second part of the challenge is to make a floral card. Well, I can do that too!

LSC161

I inked the brushed lily image with Worn Lipstick and Peeled Paint Distress Inks by tapping the corner of the pad around the image, misted with water and stamped on a piece of watercolor paper that I had already misted with water. While still wet, I added some Tattered Rose to lighten the shades of the lily and worked the darker into the open areas of the flower. I then misted the entire panel with Shimmer Mist made with Broken China and Gold Perfect Pearls. Once dry, I stamped very lightly (so lightly you can hardly see it) French Letter graphic over the image in Antique Linen. Once complete, I sponged the edges with Antique Linen. For my background paper, and I had forgotten I had this. I used Memory Box Enlighten. All the edges were sponged with Peeled Paint, because I had cut the paper down and it left two sides without the original shading. For my embellishment and sentiment, I picked a metal tag line that I just had to buy one day at Archivers. I have picked this tag line up over and over again, and keep throwing it back in the drawer. Today I made it work by taking the chains off either side and running the ribbon through it to fasten to the card. Those brads in the corners are another embellishment I just had to have and rarely use.
