I’m off today (okay, not just today  – Smiley from millan.net)!  I am so looking forward to my trip and getting to visit with my buds!  Can you tell I’m just a bit excited – yeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaw (gettin’ the Texas mojo going a little early).

Before I leave today, here’s the card I started working on Monday night and didn’t quite get finished!  It’s for the Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge today, which is a color challenge (blue, green and brown).  I must admit that when I sat down to make this card, I had something else in mind.  With these colors, I was seeing a snowman, some trees and a snow filled sky.  Well . . . . as it happens sometimes, I did a complete 180 and when to something else.  Something else that strikes me is that I didn’t sponge or distress — I must have a fever!

You can’t see it very well (if at all) in the photo, but the wings are highlighted with a Stardust Gelly Roll pen.  The halo and stars and colored with a Gold Spica Glitter pen and there are added red berries.

I hope everyone has a great day . . . . as for me, (sing along) I’m leavin’ on a jet plane, don’t know when I’ll be back again . . .

Shiver me timbers, it’s Treasure Hunt Tuesday at Rubbernecker Stamp Company! Grab yer duffle and join us abaft as we set sail to plunder all the treasure that be waitin’ fer ya. As we set sail, there are a few ports we’ll be stoppin’ at. Today’s Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge (RBC19) is to create a scene. I don’t know why, but I decided to watercolor with reinkers today. I think I’ve grown so accustomed to reaching for the Copic markers that I need to reach for the basics more. Anyhoo, here’s my fall scene.

RBC19

I stamped the pumpkins first, masked them both, and then stamped the scarecrow. Leaving the masks on the pumpkins, I then masked the scarecrow and stamped the corn. The image was then watercolored with Distress Reinkers. After the image had dried, the edges were sponged with Vintage Photo distress ink.

Good Tuesday morning! Yes, I said Tuesday and you know what that means. Time for another Treasure Hunt Tuesday at Rubbernecker and another Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge. If you are new to the Treasure Hunt, you can find the first clue and all the deets and info on the Rubbernecker Home page. This week both Jeanne and Leigh are offering up some Rubbernecker blog candy. You’ll want to stop by for a visit for a chance to win a $10 Rubbernecker Bucks Gift Certificate!

Jeanne has an interesting Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge today. She wants us to use ribbon in non-traditional ways. I haven’t done mine yet, but will be back once I see what the SCS Color Challenge is. In the meantime, make sure you visit Jeanne’s blog, Inky Paws, for the challenge details. To see what the rest of the Design Team has done with this challenge, please stop by the blogs of Broni, Tami, Candy, Kittie, Shelly and Linda.

I thought I would make it into the stamp room yesterday, but errands and Daughter #2, kept me busy. I’ll be back a little later with some stamping!

Okay, so I’m back! If anything could go wrong today, it would go wrong here! You know those days when you think you are going to have time for yourself, and then the dam breaks. Well, it’s one of those days around here. I won’t bore you with the details, let’s just say that this card has been done for a few hours and I wasn’t able to get it uploaded. Oh the heck with it. Mallory had to work today, leaving me with a list of phone calls that she should have made yesterday. Of course, that didn’t happen (which I’m sure wasn’t forgetfulness) and mom needed to make for her today – in her best whiney voice “I just don’t have time, I have to work.” Yeah right! Then 15 minutes after she left, my phone rings. “Mom I forgot to bring something with me . . . can you please bring it down to the pool.” Thinking that it would be a good idea to take the pups along with me, I load them in the car and off we go. I wasn’t half way there when Sydney decided to become a Nervous Nellie, climbed in my lap and then tried to go under the driver’s seat. That prompted a stop to toss both of them into the backseat, Sydney shaking like crazy. Wonder if she realized she has a vet appointment later this afternoon. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Well anyway, I’m home now for a bit, and am going to try to get this done. Oh and by the way, I don’t think I like this card but hey . . . . I did get a challenge done finally! Actually this is for the SCS Color Challenge today. I don’t think my ribbon treatment qualifies for the Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge – it truly isn’t that unique and different. The colors today are Barely Banana, Groovy Guava and Chocolate Chip. My first thought was eeeeeeeewwwwwwww, but then I saw the sample and realized how great they truly are together. There might be more with these colors in my future.

I picked this Stamp Oasis image up in the booth at Orlando, and finally pulled it out of the bag today. It’s colored with Copic markers, the edges were sponged with Scattered Straw and then layered on Barely Banana and Chocolate Chip. For the background, I used Jeanne’s Birthday Word Panel stamped in Scattered Straw on Barely Banana. The edges of the background panel were sponged in Groovy Guava. I liked the look of the background so much that I decided just to add ribbon and no other layers.

Well, I’m back! I decided I needed to get a little stampy today and did the SCS Color Challenge. I was a little hesitant about the colors, but I must admit that they are terrific together. I would never have thought to put kraft with black and blue. I also have to tell you that I had forgotten how much I love to stamp with pigment ink. I now have all the new Ranger pigment inks, and they are quickly becoming a favorite. The dimension and vibrancy they add to a card are what I’ve forgotten about.

CC171

I stamped the backgrounds with Cloudy Blue pigment ink, but stamped the image panel with Cloudy Blue dye ink. The edges of the white panels are sponged with Latte. Both the image and sentiment panels are raised on mounting tape.

Good Tuesday morning. If you’ve missed me the last couple of days, there is good reason. I was off working in the Rubbernecker Booth at the Gateway Rubber Stamp Getaway. What a busy but fun weekend it was. On Saturday we were descended upon by a group of Splitcoaststampers. I can’t remember all the names, and I apologize for that – what is that called, CRS? Let me see, there was Tami Mayberry (who I had not had the pleasure of meeting before), Judy Sumner, part of the Shoebox Swap group, who was also with Shirley Quarry a/k/a wannabecre8tive, Marla (is that right? – I know you’ll comment here and let me know! – hehe), and oh so many more. I’m sorry ladies but my mind is mush. Not only did I get to meet so many SCS’ers, but I got to spend time with Beth Warner a/k/a showmestamper, and Lynn Mercurio a/k/a Lynn in St. Louis. I had the opportunity to meet both Beth and Lynn at CHA in February, and they helped in the booth this past weekend. I didn’t get the chance to take many pictures, but here is one of me, Shirley, Lynn and Beth. We are showing off our inky fingers.

Since this is Tuesday, it’s also Treasure Hunt and Blogger Challenge day! If you are new to the Treasure Hunt, you’ll be able to find the first clue and all the deets on the Rubbernecker Home Page. Both Leigh and I have some blog candy for you today. After you are done visiting here, you’ll want to pop over to Leigh’s blog and leave a comment there for a chance too win a $10 Rubbernecker Gift Certificate. I also have a $10 Gift Certificate today, and in order to win all you have to do is leave me a comment.

RNBC Gift CardLet’s see, I’ve asked many questions before and I’m trying to think of something I’ve not asked you. How about flowers? My favorite flowers are actually any type of wildflowers. So, leave a comment and tell me what your favorite flower is. I’ll pick a winner tomorrow and will announce on Thursday morning.

The Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge, RBC13, is to use paint today. You can find all the information for playing along on Jeanne’s Blog, Inky Paws. You’ll also want to visit the blogs of Kittie, Candy, Linda, Tami, Shelly and Broni to check out their samples for this week’s challenge.

My challenge card today is a technique that I messed around with while in the booth over the weekend.

RBC13

I used the largest fragment from the Tim Holtz Fragments package, and covered the back with Denim Distress Crackle Paint. After it dried, I painted over the top of the crackle paint with a Lemonade Acrylic Paint Dabber to highlight the cracks in the crackle. The flower and sentiment are stamped on the front side of the Fragment in Archival Jet Black ink. To highlight the edges and finish off the piece, I went along the edges and just the tiniest bit on top with a gold leaf pen. The fragment is then raised with mounting tape on the background panel. To make the background panel, I cut triangles from two different pieces of BasicGrey Two Scoops, and stitched them together on a piece of Wild Wasabi.
