Good Monday morning! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and feel rested and relaxed to start your week off. Of course, I do remember when I worked full-time and detested Monday mornings. Now I just loll around and enjoy the peace and quiet. The only thing is, today I must run errands. I’m expecting out of town visitors later in the week, and will be leaving for Akron on Thursday. Which reminds me, if you are going to Adventures in Stamping Show this coming weekend, stop by the Rubbernecker Booth and see us! Shelly and I will be there working along with Dave and Pat, the owners of Rubbernecker.

Today is another Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge. This week, the colors are red, pink and gray. You can find out more details and another sample by visiting Jeanne’s blog, Inky Paws. If you play along, and upload your card to your SCS Gallery, please use keyword RBC06. You can also find samples on Candy’s, Kittie’s and Shelly’s blogs today.

Before I show you my card, I have some Tawdry Treats for you. As a lead up to tomorrow’s Treasure Hunt at Rubbernecker, one lucky winner will receive a $10 Gift Certificate to be used at checkout when you place your order at Rubbernecker Stamp Company.

RNBC Gift Card

Along with the Rubbernecker Bucks, I’ve decided to throw in a little extra for you. The same winner will also receive one small stamp set ($10 value) of your choice listed on my Stampin’ UP! For Sale page.

All you have to do to win, is leave me a comment and tell me what your favorite book is and why. I just finished reading the Seventh in the Sisterhood Series by Fern Michaels’, Hocus Pocus. Over the weekend I started Fannie Flagg’s Can’t Wait to Get to Heaven. I’m always looking for something good to read! I’ll be picking the winner on Tuesday night and announce who that is on Wednesday morning.

Now, onto today’s RBC06 sample. The only thing I’m truly disappointed about, is that I could not get a decent picture with decent lighting of this card. The photo I ended up using, does not show the colors properly. I will be trying for another photo later.

The floral image was inked with Oregano, Shell Pink and Cranberry ink, misted with water and then stamped. The hummingbird was inked with Lake Mist and Slate, misted with water and stamped. The edges of all the paper were sponged with Slate and the sentiment was also stamped in the same color. The image panel and all the background papers were stitched to the layers behind them on my sewing machine.

Sara you are the lucky winner of the Rubbernecker Gift Certificate this week!

I had very few comments this week, 19 to be exact. I ran the numbers 1-19 through the sequence generator at and this is what came up:

Here is Sara’s comment:

IU Alum here, so of course I’m cheering on the Hoosiers!! Besides, living here in B-ton doesn’t give me much choice. I love March Madness. On a different note, I absolutely love this card. The black accents add so much.

I’ve just sent you an email on how to claim your prize, but if you haven’t seen it by now, contact me please!!!

Good Sunday morning! I hope your weekend has gone well so far. I was able to spend a good part of my day yesterday in the studio and hopefully will be able to do the same today. Of course, around this house you never know when all hell make break loose. I haven’t seen the oldest daughter in 3 days – she may have already moved and forgot to tell me. I know she forgot to take her stereo, because the alarm went off again this morning. As I laid in bed to the sounds of BA BOOM BA BOOM BA BOOM, I envisioned once again how I will be able to make that room mine and what I could do with the furniture she has left behind.

Oh the anticipation of it all! While waiting for my move, I had to clean my current space so I could at least stamp. I truly thought that the transition would move along a little faster than it has, and wasn’t too worried about my space. Well, now that it is clean and organized – I have the need to stamp. So yesterday I did get quite a bit done. I ended up stamping at least one Valentine’s Day card and got a few Easter ready to go. It occurred to me last Tuesday night that Easter was early this year and then I started to panic. But, Valentine’s Day is first and I have only one card done – hmmmmmm, guess I need to play a little more today.

Now I know this is not the typical Valentine’s Day card, but when I saw this image of the chili peppers and had the sentiment Hot Stuff right in front of me, I couldn’t resist. I found a heart background in my stash and poof – an instant humorous Valentine!

Hot Hot Hot Stuff

I colored the image of the chili’s with Copic Markers, and used my Blender pen to draw out some of the color where the highlight marks are. Now this is funny, I wanted to put a little glaze over the highlighted areas, and did I grab my glaze pen – NOPE, I got the glitter stardust pen instead. How could I be so stupid? Anyhoo, I finished up the card by stamping my background and coloring the sentiment. I decided to sponge all the edges with distress ink and raised both the chili image and sentiment on mounting tape. Now if I only had someone to send this card too!

RN Jan 12 TT

To win these fabulous Tawdry Treats, leave me a comment. Tell me all about the most memorable Valentine’s Day gift you ever received. Believe it or not, mine is an address book that my aunt gave me when I was about 10 years old. I can even remember that it was wrapped in very colorful tissue paper. I felt like such a big shot with my own personal address book. I will pick the winner on the morning on Tuesday, January 15.

Good morning ya’ll! Before I show you my card for today, there are a few things I need to remind you of:

  • Rubbernecker Stamp Company is having a huge Winter Sale Event. If you haven’t checked it out, pop on over and take a look (well, after you read my post okay?)
  • My pal, Jeanne, is giving away some awesome Blog Candy (compliments of Rubbernecker) over on her blog, Inky Paws. Jeanne will be picking her winner on Monday evening, Christmas Eve.
  • I’m still giving away some Tawdry Treats (compliments of Rubbernecker). All you need to do to win mine is leave a comment on this post, telling me about your favorite Holiday tradition. I will be picking a winner on Monday morning.

If you’ve come by today looking for the JBWW Challenge, I hate to disappoint, but – Jeanne and I have decided to take a break from the challenge for a little while.

So let’s move on to today’s card! I couldn’t resist playing the Featured Stamper Challenge on Splitcoast today. When I saw that it was Crissy a/k/a #1artist4highhopes, I knew I had to participate. I’ve admired Crissy’s work since she first started uploading on SCS! Here’s the card from Crissy’s gallery that I picked, mainly because the colors jumped out at me. As a matter of fact, that is the only thing I used from her card – I’ve changed everything else.

The background was made by sponging on Tim Holtz Distress Inks with sponge daubers and alcohol ink felt pads soaked in Alcohol Blending Solution. Once the desired background was achieved, the Travel Background was stamped in Black Soot Distress Ink, and the edges sponged. The main image was colored with Copic markers and then sponged with the same technique as the background. To get closer to the main image, a Cut-N-Dry nib was used with the Alcohol Blending Solution and picking up some color from the stamp pad. The edges of the main image were then sponged with Black Soot Distress Ink.

Stamps: 237-11 Monica and 44-08 Travel Background by Rubbernecker Stamp Company

Dec 23 Product

Good Saturday morning! I have so enjoyed reading all of your comments regarding your most memorable Christmas gift. They have all brought back so many memories for me. From Barbie dolls, doll houses, Krissy dolls and even Chatty Cathy. I still have my Chatty Cathy – her stomach is held together with reinforced tape and she mumbles when she talks, but she is still a much cherished doll. My sister had a Krissy doll with the long red hair – actually, I’m sure she still has it. My first Barbie was the one that you dyed her hair and bathing suit to match. I had a Julia doll that talked and even a Ken doll with the plastic hair. My girls played with them and just this past summer I brought them home from my mother’s house. I didn’t have a Barbie house, but I did have a stove, sink and refrigerator made out of shoe boxes. Empty thread spools were their chairs and my aunt made all their clothes. Thank you all so much for bringing back such wonderful memories for me!

I suppose you want to know who won the Rubbernecker Tawdry Treats. There were a total of 62 comments, and using the Random Sequence Generator, the 50th comment is the winner. CONGRATULATIONS Kelly aka Littlekel90!

I remember drooling over a new bike when I was 8 or 9, and finally got my very own 10-speed bike when I was 10 years old. It was the prettiest thing ever sitting there all shiny red in front of the Christmas tree. I remember riding on that thing ALL the time. ) Thanks for a chance to win those terrific goodies! Kelly

Please email me all your deets, and I’ll get the package out to you right after the Holidays!

I have one last Christmas card for you today! The image was colored with Copic Markers and then punched out and mounted on a larger scalloped circle. A small push pin was used to make the punches in the larger scallop and the edges were sponged with Tim Holtz Old Paper Distress Ink. The main image is raised on mounting tape.

RNS Dec 22 Tawdry Treat

We’ve had to start new traditions the last few years. This is our third Christmas without my Dad, and our Christmas Holidays have taken some major changes. My dad loved Christmas and was himself like a little boy during the Holidays. Oh how we miss him and his belief in the Spirit of the Holidays. Now we gather here at my home instead of my mothers and because we no longer have little kids around, we do stocking stuffers. Everyone has their own stocking, and we each buy something for everyone. We had long ago given up on exchanging gifts because our family was so large. The adults always bought for the children and enjoyed spending our time together. It’s very hard to start new traditions when you are rooted in the past, so I would love to hear more about yours! Maybe I’ll get some new ideas for next year!

Once again, I’ll be using the Random Sequence Generator, and will announce the winner on Christmas Eve morning.

HEY check this out — my buddy, Jeanne, is also having some Blog Candy today, you’ll want to hop over to Inky Paws, and see what she is giving!
