Good morning and happy Friday!  Are you ready for a long holiday weekend?  I’m having the whole fam damily in on Sunday so the preparations are under way for a big cookout and some outdoor games (if it’s not too darn not).  I’ve decided that if it is too unbearable, I’m going to somehow attach the water hose to the gazebo and set the nozzle on mist (our own Arizona misting system – southern style)!

Today my project is a journal page that I did a few weeks ago for Quietfire and decided not to use it.  I made something else and then forgot all about this journal page.  As I was flipping through my journal the other night I saw it, marked it and decided then that it would be my last post for this month.

EarthDelightsJournalPage

I think the reason I decided not to use it originally, was that I hated the circles of ink I added at the last minute.   Last night when I took a second look at the page, I decided to tone down the circles by dabbing on some additional paint using a chipboard stencil I had made using Spellbinders® CrissCross Expandable Pattern.

You can barely make out in the above photo (upper right) a pale white spray through the CrissCross and then you can see globs of paint where I dabbed it on with a sea sponge.  In the lower left you can see on the flower a gold spray that I used with the same stencil.

Gesso was added to the page first, the background was added with distress stains and then the heart was stenciled with another chipboard stencil I made using Spellbinders Classic Hearts.

The sentiment is Garden Delights from Quietfire Design.    The flower was made by spreading embossing paste on another chipboard stencil that I die cut with Spellbinders Asters and Poppies Die D-Lites.  After the embossing paste dried, it was colored with Peeled Paint, Wild Honey and Rusty Hinge Distress Markers.

I suppose that’s all I have for today.  I’ve got another project coming up on Labor Day so I need to get it done before I have the family in on Sunday.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Good morning!  How is everyone?  I’m still trying to adjust from my trip to Arizona and having the babe back full-time . . . this old girl is just a little tired!  Thank goodness Mallory has been around this week to help me out a little here and there (especially with her crock pot dinners)!

Today is my day to post over on the Quietfire Creations Blog and I’ve worked up a journal page using my new paint samples from Lowe’s.  I am absolutely loving all the depth and texture I can achieve and I’m sure with a little more experimentation I’ll find more ways to get the results I’m going for.

Happy weekend!  I hope everyone had a great week and your weekend is off to a fabulous start.  We’re going to a family gathering today and I can’t wait to see relatives I haven’t seen more months . . . it’s gonna be way too much fun!

I’ve been busy in the studio the last few days and I have one project posted over on the eP Blog today.  It’s my third attempt at a journal page . . .

BeTrueJournalPage

I used a number of newly released Spellbinders® die templates  . . . Font One Upper and Lower Case spells out the words, CrissCross Expandable Pattern for a stencil/mask die cut from chipboard, and my favorite Classic Hearts for another die cut stencil.

You’ll find more pictures and more details on the eP Blog!

Thanks for stopping by here today and I hope you have an adventurous weekend!

Good Saturday morning!  I hope everyone had a great week and you’re ready for the weekend.  I went with Mallory to the doctor the other day and when we were driving back home, I decided to swing into the garden center and pick up another flat of flowers . . . hopefully, we’ll have one good day that I can get out and get them planted this weekend.  At least that’s my goal!

In the meantime, today is my day to post over on the eP Blog.  I decided to stretch myself and try another journal page (my second one).

Good morning and welcome and to part 2: inspired by words of The E-Team’s “a journaling we go” hops!

This month Daisy gave us a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt to get our creativity on . . . “A woman is like a tea bag – you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.”  We also have two Guest Designers joining us this month, Melody Schwartz and Marjie Kemper.

The hop details:

  • Visit each E-Team blog participant PLUS the guest bloggers to leave a comment to win a $25 eP Gift Certificate.
  • Comments can be left from May 23-May 28, 2012. Two random winners from the blog hop will be chosen.
  • Gift Certificate winners will be posted May 29th on the eP Blog
Join the E-Team in our journal adventure and post your journal page(s)  on the eP Blog.  We are going to pick 2 people to join us next month.
  • You have until Sunday, June 3, 2012 to upload your journal page inspired by the monthly quote.
  • Next month’s E-Team guest bloggers will be announced on Friday, June 9, 2012.

Participating in today’s hop with me are:

After thinking about the quote for a few weeks, and trying to get my brain wrapped around it . . .

This is what came out on the pages.

FullJournalPages

The pages were water colored with Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac and a touch of Dusty Concord.   The background stamp from Studio 490 – Optical Art was stamped in Snow Cap Pigment randomly on the pages and the stars from Celestial Art were stamped in Gold acrylic paint.

TopLeftLayers

The stars were outlined with black marker and also highlighted with Picket Fence Distress Marker.  The quote was printed in different fonts on white cardstock, cut into pieces and the edges were sponged in Dusty Concord Distress Ink.  After the quote was glued down, the pages were misted with Purple Pansy and Tattered Rose Glimmer Mist (just add a little more color).

BottomRight

The “queen” and the sentiment were stamped in Jet Black Archival.  The crown was water colored with a touch of the Gold Acrylic paint that was watered down.  That’s Worn Lipstick on her cheek and lips and Peacock Feathers on her eye.

That’s all for me today, except to say . . . don’t forget to  leave a comment (here and for the other E-Team designers) for a chance to win an eP Gift Certificate.  Also, if you would like to be considered for a Guest Designer with The E-Team next month, please participate with us and upload your journal page on the eP Blog.

Thanks for stopping by today!
