Good Sunday morning!  I hope everyone has had a fab weekend so far.  I was finally able to get my long 4 inch locks cut yesterday  . . . . woo hoo . . . and don’t have to gunk it all up with product now.  Amazing how much I got used to having no hair and the natural look . . .  it’s just way to easy to take care of!

After I came home from mom’s, where we all get haircuts together . . . yes, we have a family friend come in and do a salon day with us . . . I headed straight to the studio with ideas brewing!

First, let me tell you this.  When I first saw the new Spellbinders™ Grand Nestabilities® at CHA my wheels started turning.  Surely you can guess where this is going, right?  I immediately saw wall hangings made from GrungePaper and guess what  . . . it works!

I cut my own backing from GrungePaper for this wall hanging

SteampunkArtOct24Main

Yes, I surely did!  I am so excited to have different shapes now that will work for wall hangings . . . way too much fun.  Anyhoo, there is much to talk about and to look at here.  First that hanging itself.  The back is GrungePaper and then I die cut the Graphic45 Designer Paper to fit the Nestie.  I had some wood rope trim that I cut down to size and painted black to separate the two papers (flip side of the top).  While we are talking about the paper on the top, check out the lady in the background on the right.  I point this out because I had already picked the sentiment I was going to use for this project, this inchie from Artful Illusions,

SteampunkArtOct24Sentiment

stamped on a piece of GrungePaper, sponged with Broken China and then, using on of Tim Holtz’ mini masks, sponged on Vintage Photo.  As you can see, it was attached to the project with a Memo Pin.

The image on the left was added for some color.  It was mounted on illustration board and then attached to the backing with small hinges.  The hinges were really gold and bright, so I tapped them into some embossing ink and then embossed with Black Soot Distress Stickles.  I did the same for the metal flower on the bottom.  I couldn’t resist adding a watch facet from on old watch to the lady’s eye . . . . oh yeah, too much fun!

The flowers were die cut with the Blossom Nesties, and then curled and glued together. Vintage buttons were added to the center of them.  Everywhere I saw open space something else was tucked in . . . like the trinket pins.

I think that’s all I have to tell you about the project.  Just keep looking for little things added here and there.

Thanks for stopping by today and remember . . . . life is short, make the most of the adventures that come your way!

Good Friday morning!  I hope y’all have had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend.  It’s Kentucky Derby weekend here in Louisville and so far I’ve been able to avoid all the hullabaloo and such.  By the time the Derby Festivities are over here (with all the morning news reporting from trackside, etc.) you really get burned out.  I don’t even have a pick this year . . . and can think of lot better things to do with $5 across the board or a $10 box.

Since today is Friday, it’s also Just For Fun® Friday – Color Challenge #9.  This week I’ve challenged the Design Team, and you, to use the following colors:

JFFCC9

I hope you play along this week and post a direct link to your project using Mr. Linky on the Just For Fun® Blog.

Here’s my card for this week using my inspiration for the challenge colors, Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman.

I decided to make some Inchie Art since I hadn’t played around with inchies for quite some time.  I stamped out the 2 cars from JFF and then die cut/embossed using the 1” square from the Spellbinders™ Square Nesties.  To add some texture to the inchies, I covered all three with Rock Candy Crackle Paint.  When it was dry, I sponged Old Paper Distress Ink over the cracks.

Being a masculine card, no bows but a knot, and plenty of brads!  The twill was so clean compared to the rest of the card, that I dirtied it up with a tad bit of Old Paper and water and then swiped some Vintage Photo across it.

That’s all I have for now, but check back tomorrow because I think I might have a nice new adventure to tell you about!  See, you have to take advantage of adventures that come your way because life is too damn short!

Good Thursday morning!   Smiley from millan.net  We got another exciting Thursday for y’all!  Rubbernecker Stamps is releasing 2 new sets and 1 background today  . . . and we are having another stroll!

If you haven’t started the stroll at the Rubbernecker Blog, I suggest you go there now!  I’m last on the list and if you are searching for phrase words, the first one is on the Rubbernecker Blog!    Just trying to keep y’all strolling in the right direction . . . . Smiley from millan.net You’re also going to find all the deets and requirements (to win a prize) on the Rubbernecker Blog.

Yesterday I worked with the Flower Silhouette set for the Wacky Wednesday Challenge.  So today, I thought it would be fun to try the Teddy inchies.  I LOVE these little guys.  When you look closely at them, they each appear to have their own personality.  My mind is already racing with ideas for these little cuties!

426TeddyInchiesJune24

The Teddy images were stamped on squares of illustration board and then water colored with Tombow Markers.  I have an artist friend who has always drawn and painted on illustration board, and NOW I know!  The colors float across the board and don’t lose any of their color (otherwise fade and/or wash out).

The Blog Stroll ends with me and my clue in the phrase is:  BACKGROUND!  I hope you’ve started at the Rubbernecker Blog, followed the instructions for the stroll – visited all the other blogs, left comments, and have found all the words in the phrase.

To win one of the newly released sets (or any of the other new releases since April 1), all you have to do is leave me a comment, and then email the phrase (with the correct subject line and your mailing address) that you found on the stroll to me at [email protected].   The Blog Stroll will end at 12:00 Noon on Friday, June 24, and the winners will be announced on the Rubbernecker Blog!

Before I run off today, Rubbernecker Stamps is sponsoring this week’s challenge at Charisma Cardz Thursday Craft Challenges.  Drop by for a visit . . . they are such a talented group of stampers!

I hope you enjoyed the stroll and thanks for stopping by the BAD Side for awhile.

Today Rubbernecker Stamps releases 5 new sets!  To celebrate this release, we invite you to Blog Stroll along with the Rubbernecker Red-Hot Mommas.  The Stroll begins at the Rubbernecker Stamps Blog where you will find the guidelines on how to win one of the four sets being given away during this release.  If you haven’t started at the Rubbernecker Blog, you should go there as soon as possible. That’s where you’ll find the first clue to begin your Stroll and where the key words for the phrase actually starts.  I’ve noticed that some of you don’t start at the Rubbernecker Blog and then leave out part of the words in the phrase you submit.   Sorry y’all but I can’t count those in the drawing for prizes.

I’m very excited about these images and find that they are so versatile.  They can stand alone or be combined to make scenes, collages . . . really, anything you desire to make!  Remember this card?

WRINGLE FREE DISTRESS FINISHED CARD

I used the Butterfly and Flourish Inchies being released today, along with the large Flourish and Floral Silhouettes released earlier.  Pretty sneaky huh?

For today’s card I’m using the new Diva Inchies.  If you like shoes, purses or hats, you’re gonna LOVE this set!  There’s a little BAD humor in today’s card . . . . let’s see if you can put it all together!  Actually, let’s put it together with today’s Blog Stroll.  When you leave your comment to be considered for one of the 4 free stamp sets today, tell me what you would call this card.  I won’t tell you yet what I had in mind  . . . I want to know if you can see it and/or guess it.

This card actually started out as a card for this week’s WACKY WEDNESDAY Challenge, but then I had another brainstorm (yes, you know it hurt) and had to move on to that idea.  The images were stamped, die cut and embossed to be Inchies, and then they were placed on a layer of pink cardstock.  The pink layer was die cut with the Spellbinders rectangle that I die cut out the middle of the black cardstock.  It fit together beautifully and made its own frame.  The background panel was stamped with Rubbernecker’s new Flourish set.  I found the sentiment in among my Rubbernecker stamps, but because it was rather large for what I wanted, I generated it with the computer to fit my Spellbinders tag.

The Blog Stroll ends with me and my clue in the phrase is:  Inchies Along!  I hope you’ve started at the Rubbernecker Blog, followed the instructions for the hop – visited all the other blogs, left comments, and have found all the phrase clues.

To win one of the newly released sets (or any of the other new releases since April 1), all you have to do is leave me a comment, and then email the phrase (with the correct subject line and your mailing address) that you found on the stroll to me at [email protected].   The Blog Stroll will end at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 28, and the winners will be announced on the Rubbernecker Blog!

Smiley from millan.net Good morning!  I can hardly believe that it’s Wednesday already . . . of course, I always get my days messed up when we’ve had a long weekend.  I got to spend a large amount of time in the studio and I’m almost (now I said almost) caught up with projects due this week.   Can’t ask for anything more, can I?  Well, I could Smiley from millan.net I could!

Since today is Wednesday, it means that it’s time for another WACKY WEDNESDAY Challenge!  Kittie is our hostess today and she has challenged all of us to make a card using some type of frame.  You can find all the details about participating in the challenge and how to win a 40% Discount on your next Rubbernecker order at the Rubbernecker Blog.

My card for today is using the new Diva Inchies Set to be released tomorrow.  Oh yeah . . . Rubbernecker Stamps is releasing 5 new sets tomorrow and since it’s a release day, there’s gonna be another Blog Stroll!  WOO HOO!!!!!  I do love the Blog Strolls.

Anyhoo, here’s my card.

DivaInchiesDareToBeDifferent

My frame is made from cardstock using Spellbinders Long Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities.  The cardstock was just a little flimsy, so using the same die, I cut a light weight piece of cardboard to attach it to.  I used Spellbinders Classic Square Nestabilities to cut the images.  The background panel was a white piece of cardstock that I airbrushed using a pink Copic Marker and the Spellbinders Flowers Impressabilities.  The bottom of the background panel was die cut and embossed with the Spellbinders Petite 5-1/2” Deckled Scallop Borderabilities.  To add a little accent to the frame, I applied Ranger Liquid Pearls around the scallops and then colored the inside border with a Silver Spica Marker and then went over that with black.  If you can tell in the photo, the frame is raised over the images with foam tape.

  • Paper:  Neenah Classic Crest Solar White; Prism Baby Pink Medium and Black
  • Ink:  Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black
