Good Saturday morning!  For the past few days there has been a special event taking place on Splitcoaststampers.  In order to thank the Fan Club Members of Splitcoaststampers, the past and present members of the Dirty Dozen Design Team (the “Dirty Girls”) have been hosting challenges.  If you are a Fan Club Member you can check out the challenges in this forum.  If you are not a Fan Club Member and would like to be, just out this page!

My friend Kittie is hosting one of the challenges today.  I was very honored when she asked me to make a sample for her and here it is!

The images from Kittie’s, stamp line – Cause a Scene, were stamped randomly on watercolor paper and there was no masking involved.  Because I thought out my design beforehand, and stamped the images far enough apart, there wasn’t any need to mask.  In my mind, there needed to be crops somewhere in the field, so I chose next to the barn.  Using the smallest flower image from Kittie’s Outdoor Master #1, I stamped in lines next to the barn to simulate crops.

Thanks for stopping by today and if you are a Fan Club Member, I hope you join in today’s Dirty Dozen Challenges on Splitcoaststampers.  I’ll be leaving for CHA tomorrow so the next time you hear from me . . . . . I’ll be with the Red-Hot Mommas!!!!!!

Good Friday morning!   Smiley from millan.net   First things first.  The Rubbernecker Blog Stroll goes until noon today.  If you haven’t taken the stroll and celebrated with the Red-Hot Mommas you still have time!  It has been such a joy working with Kittie’s new releases, Kittie Kits “Cause a Scene” – Country Life!  I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Country Life Scenes and seeing what the other Red-Hot Mommas have done with them.  Quite frankly, they have outdone themselves!  Way to go girls!! Smiley from millan.net

I was so busy yesterday behind the scenes, that I wasn’t going to stamp last night and just relax.  THEN, after dinner an amazing thing happened  . . . I had a brainstorm!  You don’t even have to ask, YES it hurt!

Before I tell you my idea, I will warn you  . . . Smiley from millan.net alert.

There I was lolling on the couch getting ready to watch Survivor when it hit me!  I could take the rooster from the Chicken Coop Scene and make a birthday card.  Not just any birthday card, but one that you could add a little humor too.  Are you ready?

KKitsRoosterHappyBirthday

Now here’s where it gets tricky . . . on the inside you could write:  Shake Your Tail Feathers, Strut your Stuff, You’re still Cock of the Walk, Cluck You, COCK-a-doodle-doo, You old Cock, Cluck Off  . . . well, I’m sure you get the idea!  Anything you can imagine will work!

Here’s what was used in the making of this card:

  • Stamps:  Kittie Kit Cause a Scene Chicken Coop SKU:KKCS S007 and Kittie Kit Cause a Scene Out Door Master SKU:KKCS M001; and Happy Birthday, USA Sentiment; all from Rubbernecker Stamps
  • Paper:  Prism Tawny Medium and Crabapple Dark; 7 Gypsies Gypsy Market; Strathmore Watercolor
  • Ink:  Ranger Archival Jet Black and Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo, Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, Antique Linen, Fired Brick, Aged Mahogany, Faded Jeans and Broken China Distress
  • Accessories:  Spellbinders Small and Large Deckled Edged Rectangles and Large Petite Oval Nestabilities; Ranger Glossy Accents; Venture Foam Tape, Tsukineko Sponge Dauber; Koi Water Brushes; May Arts Ribbon; Vintage Button, Brads

I suppose that’s all for today.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Good morning and welcome to another Rubbernecker Blog Stroll!  Today Rubbernecker Stamps releases two new Kittie Kits – “Cause a Scene” Sets.  I showed you the Chicken Coop Scene yesterday, and today I’m going to show you the Farm Scene. I can’t believe that it was close to 2 years ago that Kittie, Jeanne and I sat around Kittie’s patio table brainstorming scene kits!  Since Kittie released her first sets, there have been others to come along, but none like our Kittie’s hand drawn images and style!  That is exactly what Kittie Kits – Cause a Scene are all about  . . . being able to replicate Kittie’s style in our own way!

To celebrate this release, we invite you to Blog Stroll along with the Rubbernecker Red-Hot Mommas.  The Stroll begins at the Rubbernecker Stamps Blog where you will find the guidelines on how to win one of the sets being revealed or even possibly the GRAND PRIZE. If you haven’t started at the Rubbernecker Blog, you should go there as soon as possible. That’s where you’ll find the first clue to begin your Stroll (and yes, this time there is a clue on the RN Blog).

I water colored the image with Ranger Distress Inks and my fave new toy, Koi Water Brushes.  I absolutely love the outhouse in this set and just had to use it.  Do you remember visiting family members who had outhouses?  I sure do!  They also had water pumps in the kitchen and cooked on wood burning stoves.  I loved visiting the relatives in the country with my grandparents.  It was an every weekend (or at least every other weekend) occurrence.  You didn’t call to say you were coming by, you just got in the car and went.  When you got there, you visited everyone in the family, going from house to house!  Ahhhh, good times!

The Blog Stroll ends with me, and my word in the phrase is STAMPS! I hope you’ve visited all the other blogs, left comments, and have found all the phrase clues.  If you have, now is the time to email me, [email protected], with the subject line BLOG STROLL – KITTIEKITSAPRIL23, and the completed phrase.

The Blog Stroll will end at 12:00 Noon on Friday, April 24, and the individual winners and GRAND PRIZE Winner will be announced on the Rubbernecker Blog Friday afternoon!

I hope you enjoyed the stroll and thanks for coming to the BAD Side for awhile.

Good Wednesday mornin’!  Smiley from millan.net I’m sure you’re all thinking, what the hell as the BAD one done now?  Well, I did get out yesterday (now don’t faint or anything) but I actually put a few miles on my car.  I think it might be the first time I’ve driven in just about 3 weeks . . . I’ve become such a homebody!  Me getting out on the open road caused enough of a scene, however . . . .

This being Wednesday, it is Rubbernecker WACKY WEDNESDAY, and Candy has challenged us to make a card/project using chipboard or a button, or both.  This week, Rubbernecker will be awarding one winner, 40% off their entire order.  All the deets for this week’s challenge and how to participate are on the RN Blog.

What did I do to Cause a Scene?  Well, today you will see on the blogs’ of the Rubbernecker Red-Hot Mommas, previews/sneak peeks of new Kittie Kits – Cause a Scene Sets that will be released tomorrow!  During the release tomorrow, there will be a Blog Stroll celebrating Kittie’s new releases.  Just like the first Blog Stroll, there will be prizes and lots of fun!  You’ll need to start at the RN Blog tomorrow and follow the clues along the way.  You won’t be sorry!

Oh the scene thing . . . . I stamped with the new Chicken Coop Kittie Kit!

KKChickenCoopWW8

I don’t often create little scenes (only big ones) like this one, but I must admit that I got totally lost in the coloring!  I can see why Kittie thinks of her scenes as therapeutic.  Once I had the scene water colored, I sanded the edges down to leave just a hint of white.  The background paper was misted with water, scrunched up to cause wrinkles, ironed dry and then sanded to show wear and tear.  For the challenge, I used a vintage button that I found in all the buttons that my aunt gave me.  I also need to add that the color of the hen and chicks were inspired by all the photos that Anna has been showing on her blog recently.

Thanks for stopping by today and don’t forget to check out the WACKY WEDNESDAY Challenge and please come back for the Blog Stroll tomorrow . . . who knows, you might win some new Kittie Kits!

Good Friday morning! It hardly seems that this week should be over and I’m still chasing myself. You know, I might get caught up one day, but I truly doubt it. I need to have about two uninterrupted days in the stamp room. Make that three days. It is such a mess at the moment that I can’t find anything. I still have all these unmounted images all over the place that need to be cataloged and put away. Jeanne will be back this coming Tuesday (we are heading to CHA) and she doesn’t have a place to work right now. Actually that mess has to be cleaned today, because I have Stamp Club tomorrow.

Sydney is still with Kate. I checked in last night and she seems to be doing better, but it’s still too early to bring her home. Well, maybe she is home because she is Kate’s dog. Who knows, Kate may decide to keep Syd after all . . . if she does, I’m sure we’ll be looking at that new pup Mallory is dying for. Oh please . . . one more dog is all I need. But then again, I’m traveling so someone else has to take care of them while I’m gone. They won’t be satisfied until there is a herd of 30 running around!

I had a heads up on today’s SCS Limited Supply Challenge, but just by a few minutes. I did get my card done and uploaded to my SCS Gallery, but didn’t get the blog post written before uploading. I normally do that. Write my blog post and then upload to SCS. It was just too late and I was a little mushy headed. Today’s challenge is to make a card with a summer theme. One of my favorite places is the beach, so I had to make a beach card.

I decided to use one of the new Kittie Kits and break out my reinkers for a change. I painted the water, sand and sky first, laying down a light layer of color. All the images were stamped in brown, and I went over the sea oats with greens. The chair was stamped over the sand in the same color of browns, then painted in darker colors. To add some highlight to the water, I lightly brushed/dabbed on some Tulip Puffy Paint and then heat set it. To finish the card, and because we were limited on layers and no designer paper. Do you think they realize what they are doing to me – no designer paper? Minimum layers? Well, it is a challenge, isn’t it? Anyhoo, to add some interest to the card, I sponged the edges of the layers.
