Smiley from millan.net Holy cow this week has sure gone fast! Of course, I did sleep most of the week away and that might have something to do with it. Thursday was a good day without any naps so I must have caught up and I’m feeling so much better.

Since today is Friday that means that it’s also the Just For Fun® Friday Color Challenge. I really enjoyed working with the colors this week. At first I thought ewwwww what can I do . . . and then it all just came together.

Rita a/k/a Smiley from millan.net challenged us this week to use

JFFCC12

Okay, okay I know you’re saying ewwwww, but trust me . . . . give them a try! I think you’ll be surprised. We would love to have you play along with us!  You don’t have to use Just For Fun® stamps, especially if you don’t have any yet.  However, if you do play along, you might just be the lucky winner of a 25% Discount so you can go shopping!   All you have to do is make a card/project using the above colors and post a direct link using Mr. Linky on the Just For Fun® Blog.

Here’s my card!

I incorporated a few of the techniques that I learned from Wendy Vecchi last weekend. You might also recognize this sketch from Wendy’s book, “make art, studio 490 style II”. I was fascinated by her project on page 16, “you must believe.” I changed the design up to fit what I was working on, but left the general sketch as it was.

Hopefully you can see in this picture, the white shadow of the Wildflower Silhouette.

That’s one of the things I learned last weekend, stamping in white pigment and then inking over the top of it. When I had finished I felt the image was just a little to light and needed the extra pop of block to stand out on the card. Lots of over stamping using a variety of JFF backgrounds. What can I say . . . it was just way too much fun!

Now that you’ve been inspired by my card Smiley from millan.net, you should visit the other JFF Designers to see what they’ve done. Everyone has had a different take on the colors and you’ve just got to check them out.

It’s Friday! Smiley from millan.net That means that it’s time for my weekend with Wendy Vecchi and it’s also time for another Just For Fun® Friday Color Challenge.  Because I have so much to do today, I’m going to get right to the Color Challenge.

Sandy challenged the Designers to use the following colors this week:

I inked the tag with the Wrinkle Free Distress using Crushed Olive, Broken China and Mustard Seed Distress Inks.  The grid background was stamped and then I misted some Gold Perfect Pearls mixed with water to dilute the ink and add some shimmer to the tag.  The sentiment is stamped on the bottom half of the tag I cut off.

Good Saturday Evening! As I am beginning to write this post, I’m also watching the Darlington Southern 500. While watching the Nationwide Race last night, I was going through some of the dad’s NASCAR memorabilia, looking for articles or pictures of Crosley cars. Here in Louisville, maybe in the early 50s, they drove the Crosleys inside at the old Armory Building. I’ve been talking to a reporter over the last few months who is writing an article about the Crosley, and I met with him this morning to go over what I had found.

What drew my attention last night was an old program from Richmond which was talking about the Darlington races the month before. I can’t quite remember the year but I’m gonna wing it and say 1953-55. My dad was driving for Fish Carburetor then in the NASCAR Sportsman Division and he had driven in that race. I found him in the program. Junior Johnson won the race and his winnings were $1,500. My dad finished 5th and won $500.00. Oh my how times have changed. Not only the size of the purses, but they drove Hudson’s, Coupes, etc., all without the safety equipment they have now. Their helmets were nothing more than thin shells on the top of their heads with leather ear flaps and straps. They didn’t have fire suits or special shoes. They wore their street shoes and maybe a uniform they had put together . . . like my dad always wore white pants and a white long sleeve dress shirt. Darlington wasn’t even as safe as it is now . . . man those old guys had the balls.

Okay back to my actual post and card . . . I digressed! My card is for the Just For Fun® Friday Color Challenge #10. I don’t know that this is the card I envisioned, hell . . . quite frankly it’s not! But hey, I’m running with it anyway!

Using Crushed Olive, Wild Honey and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks, I used the Wrinkle-Free Distress Technique on watercolor paper. I stamped the image in black and then die/cut and embossed with Oval Nesties™. That’s really about all except slapping down some paper and sewing it to a background panel of cardstock.

I hope you’ve had a great weekend so far and thanks for stopping by! My adventures have been coming fast and furious, and I’ve definitely been taken advantage of them. I hope you do too!

Good Friday morning!  I hate to admit that I don’t have a card for this post.  I was so overwhelmed yesterday afternoon and evening that I just didn’t have time to get to it.  I will though and I well be back today with my card.

Besides the Color Challenge there is another exciting thing today!  Just For Fun® has been in the process of revising their web site for some time now.  At first, the new site was to open the middle of April, but due to unforeseen circumstances the date got pushed back. It’s an exciting event, TODAY is the DAY the new Just For Fun® Online Store opens!   I hope you visit and see the changes made and what is new!

This week I’ve challenged the Design Team to use the following colors (so you know I’ve got to get me card done):

JFFCC10

Please play along with us, you don’t have to use Just For Fun® stamps to play along.  All you have to do  is make a card/project using the above colors and post a direct link to your project using Mr. Linky below on the Just For Fun® Blog.

Just because I don’t have my card ready doesn’t mean there’s not tons of inspiration.  The other Designers have worked hard this week and you can visit them all by following the below links:

Good Friday morning!  I hope y’all have had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend.  It’s Kentucky Derby weekend here in Louisville and so far I’ve been able to avoid all the hullabaloo and such.  By the time the Derby Festivities are over here (with all the morning news reporting from trackside, etc.) you really get burned out.  I don’t even have a pick this year . . . and can think of lot better things to do with $5 across the board or a $10 box.

Since today is Friday, it’s also Just For Fun® Friday – Color Challenge #9.  This week I’ve challenged the Design Team, and you, to use the following colors:

JFFCC9

I hope you play along this week and post a direct link to your project using Mr. Linky on the Just For Fun® Blog.

Here’s my card for this week using my inspiration for the challenge colors, Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman.

SherryCheeverJFFCC9April301

I decided to make some Inchie Art since I hadn’t played around with inchies for quite some time.  I stamped out the 2 cars from JFF and then die cut/embossed using the 1” square from the Spellbinders™ Square Nesties.  To add some texture to the inchies, I covered all three with Rock Candy Crackle Paint.  When it was dry, I sponged Old Paper Distress Ink over the cracks.

SherryCheeverJFFCC9April30

Being a masculine card, no bows but a knot, and plenty of brads!  The twill was so clean compared to the rest of the card, that I dirtied it up with a tad bit of Old Paper and water and then swiped some Vintage Photo across it.
