New Stamps

So it’s Saturday, the first day of the weekend and like normal, I’m trying to catch up with the laundry and stamp in between loads. Since I haven’t given you any stamping the last few days, I wanted to give you something new. I received a new stamp last week (actually one of many) from American Art Stamp. How appropriate that it is called Out of Money. The more I think about high school graduation, two girls in college – tuition for both, cars, car insurance, not to say anything about *rubbah*, paper, embellishments – oh my mind is just reeling!

Anyhoo, I’ve been playing some with my long-forgotten Primsa Colored Pencils this week and while they were out, I thought I would color up this image. I wanted something springy, since it’s cold here again today, grey clouds, just yucky! Thank goodness that tennis match got cancelled (I hate watching tennis in a winter coat – we should be wearing shorts, tank tops and flip-flops).

Back to the card, I stamped the image with Black Stazon on white cardstock and colored with Prisma Colored Pencils and Turpenoid. My friend, Cyndi Wheeler, sent me the most awesome white cardstock this week – I’m sure it’s probably from her share, but this paper is fabulous! There is just a little bit of sparkle to the paper and has such a pretty look and feel. I ran a piece of this new paper through the Cuttlebug using the Bloom Dots embossing folder and used it as my background. Once again, I was drawn to the simplicity of black and white and added the Pink Passion for that little pop of color!

It’s Only Money

My mother and my aunt are still after me to create one layer simple cards for them to send to their friends. Now, you have realize, that they will go to the $ store and buy what they think are simply gorgeous cards, 2 for $1.00. It’s not that I am going to charge them for a card, but I really would like for them to send something that I have made! So today, I’m bouncing . . . . . . yep bouncing! I finally figured out how to type a sentiment on the computer — outside and in —– on one sheet of watercolor paper! How cool is this!!!!!

I typed up the sentiment on this card using columns in my word processor, printed it out on the front — then flipped the paper so that the inside would print (inside the card reads, and I have on matching underwear). Forgive me for overusing this sentiment recently, but my mother absolutely loves it and seems to want it on every card she sends now. She also told me last night that out of all my women images — she loves Millie the best! Once I had the card printed, I stamped Millie on the front, watercolored her using reinkers and then tied on some ribbons. Boy I hope she likes this one because I am just absolutely tickled! I will be dropping it off to her later this afternoon.

Over the weekend my mother asked me to make a funny card for her to send to one of her friends. Now, she ran into this friend in Walgreens the other day, she hadn’t seen her for a few months, and spent 3 hours talking to her. You need to keep in my mind, that they never left the aisles of Walgreens — they stood there in the aisle for 3 hours and talked! Mom had been by here, left around 3:00 to stop off at the drugstore, and called me at 6:30 and said “I just now got home, I ran into . . . and we stood there and talked for 3 hours.” If you can imagine — I love to chat, my mother is a talker, my kids are loud, my sister is a talker — when we are ALL together the noise decibels are ridiculous! Sometimes you need to tap the other on the arm, and say . . . sssshhhhhhhhh, bring it down a little!

Anyhoo, mom wanted a funny birthday card to send to this friend. We discussed what she wanted, and this is what I came up with. I gave it to her on Sunday, and I’m not too sure she likes it, but I think she’ll send it anyway, or I’ll make another one just in case.

LovelleI hope I get this recipe right, I don’t have the card in front of me and can’t find the list of ingredients used just right now. The stamp is Jogging Suit Lovelle from Art Impressions. Paper was Color me Silly by BasicGrey, Basic Black and Green Galore. Ink (watercolored with reinkers) Green Galore, Blush Blossom, Real Red, Lovely Lilac, Grey (WWC), and gold metallic pens. The sentiment was generated on the computer. A little touch of ribbon finishes off the card! I don’t know if you can read the sentiment, it does say — In honor of your Birthday, I’m not wearing socks and I have on matching underwear! This is the quote mom loved, just had to find a stamp to go with it!

I hope everyone has a great day today, I’m gonna try to get some things stamped!

ATCs

I’ve been working the last couple of days on getting together some ATCs for a swap I’m doing. Boy these little things are so much fun and I can see now that these won’t be the last I do! I took this design from the sketch challenge card I did earlier in the week, and just love these colors together. Just for the fun of it, I made one hoof black – don’t ask why, just a bit of humor! The background panels were cuttlebugged (is there such a term) with the Bloom Dots embossing folder and drew the squiggles with a uni-ball Vision Elite gel pen (which is fast becoming a favorite writing utensil).
