Oh my badness – It’s Friday already! I can hardly believe this week has flown by so fast. It seems like my days are turning into nights and my nights into days. I haven’t even finished decorating for the holidays, let alone shop! This Santa really is bad –

I have to ask myself what the heck have I been doing all week. Hardly getting any stamping done, the laundry isn’t done and the house if a wreck – where have I been? If you know, tell me – cause I absolutely have no idea! Hmmm I might be on a – yep, that must be it.

In my need to stamp, I was puttering around in the forums on Splitcoast last night, and I decided to stalk Jen70, the Limited Supply Challenge Hostess. Well, as I was pulling up her profile, she was posting today’s challenge – sneaky! At least I could see the challenge before I went to bed and actually woke up this morning with an idea!

It’s been some time since I’ve actually water colored – you know with a brush, water and ink. I’ve become so addicted to my Copic Markers, that I don’t reach for anything else. So, today I decided too actually watercolor! For coloring today, I used Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Reinkers. The colors of these inks are so vibrant and so versatile. You can find these inks (along with all other Tim Holtz Products) and the images used today at Rubbernecker Stamp’s new website. If you haven’t been to the new site yet, you need to! There is so much there that I haven’t even seen all the categories yet.

Moving on, here’s my little 3×3 card that I did for today’s Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoast.

When I think of little 3×3 cards (which I dearly love to make), gift cards, little “just because” notes and fun come to mind. To start this card today I took a 4″ square piece of watercolor paper, soaked it with water and place one drop of Mustard Seed reinker in the center. As the ink was bleeding out, I loaded a brush with water and completely saturated the paper, allowing the ink to become a color wash. While the ink was well, I took a piece of paper towel and blotted up some color. When the paper was dry, I still wanted a lighter look. I held the watercolor paper under running water and then blotted again to remove more color. Really ingenious – well, I think so! Now that I had the look I was after, I stamped stars in the background. The image was inked with Mustard Seed Distress Ink, stamped off once and then stamped on the watercolor paper. The sentiment was stamped on the panel then with Faded Jeans Distress Ink. I also used this ink to sponge the edges of the panel after I had distressed it. The moon image, was also stamped on watercolor paper and colored with the reinkers. Once the image had dried, I trimmed it out and raised it on double layers of mounting tape.

Stamps: 88-13 Sleeping Moon and 88-05 Wishing Upon a Star Text from Rubbernecker Stamp Company

Paper: Canson 140 lb. Cold Pressed Watercolor, Prism Iced Yellow and Nautical Blue Medium

Ink: Tim Holtz Faded Jeans, Mustard Seed, Worn Lipstick and Tattered Rose Reinkers, Stazon Black

Accessories: Ribbon, Scissors for Distressing, Tsukineko Sponge Dauber, Mounting Tape

Yesterday I had a number of emails and PMs wanting to know where I found the coasters that I used for the tile/coaster project. Well girls, I’ve had these for about 5 years now stuck back in my china cabinet. I found them at a Christmas Outlet store here in Jeff, Santa’s Depot. I haven’t been in the store this year and can’t tell you if they still have them or not. I bought them with the hopes of making a holiday decoration for my little plate holder, and have just never gotten around to it. I really believe that their initial use might have been as pillar candle holders.

This week has gone so fast! How many of you have started your Christmas shopping and how many are actually done? My youngest keeps sending me emails with links of gifts she would like and my oldest won’t give me a list. She tells me I should know what she wants. Well, I don’t know what she wants! I informed both Kate and her boyfriend (who is a fixture around here) that I wanted their lists, in writing, in my hands the next time I see them. We’ll see! It was so much easier when they were little and I could go nuts buying toys and get a lot more for my money. Those of you with little ones – enjoy every minute. It goes by so fast!

The card I have to share today is for the Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoast. I actually started this last night before I went to bed – so the stickles would be dry this morning! Then, this morning I actually changed it up a bit and didn’t use the scalloped square I had the stickles on. I’ve had this little snowman stamp since my trip to Stampaway in Cincinnati, and this is the first time it’s seen ink. When I was checking out from the Northwoods booth, they threw this one in my bag and it’s perfect for today’s challenge.

This card is a real step outside my box – It’s just a one layer 4-1/4 square note card. No additional layers for backgrounds and to hide my ribbon with. The snowflakes were stamped in different colors of blue randomly on the front and the ribbon is wrapped around and tied in a bow on the front. The image is colored with Copic Markers. Frosted Lace Stickles were used for the snow and Crystal to add some highlights to the hat.

Stamps: SU Snow Burst, Snowman from Northwoods Rubber Stamps

Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White; SU Whisper White, Cool Caribbean and Buckaroo Blue

Ink: Adirondack Pitch Black, SU Soft Sky, Buckaroo Blue and Cool Caribbean

Accessories: Copic Markers, 2-1/2″ and 3″ Marvy Uchida Punches, Signo White Gel Pen, Ranger Crystal and Frosted Lace Stickles, Tsukineko Large Sponge Dauber, Ribbon

I was going to say good morning, but I just realized it’s already afternoon. Happy Friday instead! I hope everyone had a fulFILLING Thanksgiving and have plenty of leftovers for the rest of the weekend. I do! We ended up throwing a quick meal together but still ended up with way too much food – that the fun part – it’s all about the food!

Last night while cruising and chatting on Splitcoast, I noticed that Jen had already posted today’s Limited Supply Challenge. Well I went to check it out, debated about making a card last night or this morning instead. I had a little time, wasn’t sleepy yet, and decided to go ahead and make my challenge card. I got it all done, was getting ready to take my picture and went back and read the instructions for the limited supplies. Hmmpf – I had added one too many embellishments. One embellishment allowed – I had ribbon and brads. I asked in the thread about it and received a message back from Jen – layers okay, punches okay (one specialized tool of choice), but ribbon and brads no. One more thing – it’s all about neutrals with just a pop of color.

Now I have two cards. I have the one I made last night (more is more) and the one I made this morning. I’m gonna show you my actual challenge card first:

LSC143

The background is made with the swirl from Baroque Motifs and different snowflakes from Snow Burst. Using different colors of neutral inks and some creative off stamping and over stamping, I mixed the two sets to create the background. For the image layer, I stamped the snowflakes and used punches to create the different layers and the holes in the scallops. The sentiment is from a set that I found at Hobby Lobby last year. I choose Very Vanilla and River Rock as my neutrals and Purely Pomegranate for my little pop of color.

Stamps: SU Baroque Motifs and Snow Burst, Unknown from Hobby Lobby

Paper: SU Very Vanilla and River Rock

Ink: SU Purely Pomegranate and River Rock, Tim Holtz Vintage Photo and Antique Linen Distress Inks

Accessories: Uchida Punches, Large Oval Punch, Push Pin, River Rock and Purely Pomegranate Ribbon, Sponge Dauber, Mounting Tape

Here is my first card I made with the brads (before I read the details of the challenge in their entirety). I guess I have a less is less and more and more card today!

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week so far and is looking forward to the weekend. I have a community service project tomorrow afternoon for Sorority and am looking forward to participating. We are boxing up items to send to our Service Men in Iraq. Of course, I still need to shop for some items, but I can get that done in the morning. If anyone has any ideas other than the typical books, magazines, toiletry items, please post a comment and let me know. One thing they requested was Ramen Noodles – we were all quite surprised, but after thinking about it, it did make sense. So anyhoo, I would love to have some other suggestions.

Yesterday I was able to get a few cards stamped just for fun and with my luck, none of them fit the Splitcoast Challenge today. One almost did, but I added just a few too many embellishments. Today’s Limited Supply Challenge is one embellishment or designer paper only. It is to only have one or two stamps – one of them a heart, and have limited layers.

You all know how much I love the new Way to Go by Gina K. Designs. Well an idea hit me this morning and I just had to RUN with it! There are just way too many possibilities with this set. I stamped the toilet bowl image and then stamped a heart. Colored them both with Copic Markers, cut a small slit in the water and slid the heart in. The sentiment, You Make My Heart Overflow, was typed on the computer (my specialty tool of choice) – hehe I just kill myself sometimes! Oh the joys of being BAD!

Good morning ya’ll! It’s Friday already and I have one heck of a busy day in front of me. I still haven’t prepared for Stamp Club tomorrow, so that is a must do today. It also occurred to me last night at midnight that I have an appointment today at 2:00. Good thing I remembered! Sometimes the memory doesn’t fail me . . .

Today is the Limited Supply Challenge on Splitcoast. It’s a follow the list challenge: animals or critters, sentiment, background, 2-4 layers, any solid or patterned paper, coloring tools, punches, any other quick tool. Now the kicker for me was NO EMBELLISHMENTS. Let me just say that when I saw THAT . . . well I almost . . .

LSC141

Here you have it, a 4-layer card. The cute little penguin was colored with Copic Markers and just a little snow was added with puffy paint. Now before you jump up and down, I consider this ink/paint, puffed with a heat tool. Quick! The patterned paper (Memory Box that I got from Sweet and Sassy Crafts), was sewn to the actual card front (quick and easy for me) because someone has run out of tape. (A quick trip to Sam’s Club is in order today.) The sentiment and the sponging were done with distress ink and I highlighted the image heavy to eliminate a background layer. The image is raised on mounting tape, to add some dimension. Ah the background, I used the flair stamp from Priceless stamped in Adirondack Aqua (and actually stamped after the card was put together – cause, well I forgot about the background stamp).

Stamps: SU Priceless, Penguin and Sentiment from Inky Antics

Paper: SU Bashful Blue, Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, Memory Box Snow Collection

Ink: Adirondack Pitch Black and Aqua, Tim Holtz Faded Jeans Distress Ink, Tulip White Puffy Paint

Accessories: Copic Markers, Sewing Machine, Sponge Dauber, Heat Gun

Let’s talk tools for a minute. When I was at Stampfest in Orlando, I picked up a couple of Tsukineko oblong sponge daubers.

Oblong Daubers

Jeanne and I walked for two days trying to find these and at the very end of the show, we did. Only too late – they were practically sold out and I was only able to get 2. I picked one up the other day to use and can I say – THEM! My fingers fit perfectly inside so there is some leverage, I can work different colors from one dauber using both ends, and they are washable. I NEED more!!! Before you ask, the container for brads is from the Target $ Spot. I’ve been using the container to prop up card fronts. I’ve making card fronts for a project and well, they just don’t want to stand on their own. I didn’t want to move it because it is in the perfect spot for lighting right now.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
