Happy Wednesday!  I’m starting to see the end of the tunnel . . . Smiley from millan.net and projects are being completed!  I have just a few more things to wrap up and then I can begin preparing for my trip to CHA! Smiley from millan.net  Today is the Rubbernecker WACKY WEDNESDAY Challenge!  It’s hard to believe that we are already up to #20 and we keep adding new players!  Jules is the hostess this week, and she has found some great inspiration pieces for us.  You can find all the details and how you could win a coupon for 40% off your next Rubbernecker Stamps order on the Rubbernecker Blog.

Here’s the inspiration piece from Janine King Designs that I chose to work with.

I loved the black and white look, knew that I had the perfect background to work with, but I needed to add some color as well.  Here’s what I came up with.

WW20WildflowerBGJuly15

The background was made using the Emboss Resist Technique.  The image was stamped and embossed with clear EP, and then black ink was applied direct to paper.  Using I dauber I worked the black ink around to fill the paper and then once dry, cleaned off the remaining black ink on the embossed areas.  I’m a little ticked with myself that I didn’t notice the speckles in the background.  I have no idea what it is . . . it doesn’t feel like EP.  I didn’t notice them until I was editing photos.  For some reason I’m into the black/white and green look right now!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Oh my BADness!  I have been so buried this week under paper, glitter and ink that I haven’t had time just to stamp.  I’ve been getting ready for my part of the Spellbinders CHA Blog Frenzy that . .  . well it’s like this . . . . Smiley from millan.net  I got last part of my projects done today, still have some more to do, but I just had to take a minute and clear my head.

I did something today that I haven’t done for a very long time.  I pulled out my absolute favorite floral image of all time!  For some of you, I don’t even have to show you the card and you’ll know the stamp.  For some others, it’s been so long since I’ve put ink to this image that you’ve probably never seen anything I’ve done with it.

Are you ready?  My Penny Black Blush stamp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PENNYBLACKBlush

If you haven’t been able to tell over the last bit, I love stamping on wet watercolor paper and today is no different.  I misted the watercolor paper and let it sit for a few minutes to soak up the water.  When the paper was just damp, I stamped Rubbernecker French Script in Old Paper Distress Ink.  I let the ink sit for awhile, and then when I had the look I wanted, I finished drying with my heat tool.  The flower was inked using Tombow Markers, misted with water and then stamped over the French Script.  I felt the look of one single flower was lonesome, so I added 2 more . . . just for the fun of it!  The image was then cut and embossed with Spellbinders S5-014 Small Deckled Mega Rectangles.

I chose BasicGrey Wisteria for the background papers and matched them up with Prism Iced Cobalt and Spring Willow Medium.  The edges of everything, including the scalloped border, were sponged with Old Paper Distress Ink.

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Smiley from millan.net Good Wednesday morning!  How many of you spent the afternoon yesterday watching the Michael Jackson Memorial?  I did!  I sat on the couch, not getting up for anything . . . well maybe more coffee . . . and periodically a tear or two would roll down my cheek.  I have to admit I was misty eyed.

Picture it – The South end of Louisville, Kentucky, 1968.  There was a 10 year old girl who listened to only two radio stations, both of them AM – WAKY (the Top 40) and WTMT (Country).  There was a Soul/R&B Station in town, but never listened to by this little girl.  She didn’t know who the Temptations (or any of the Motown Stars) were.  She did however know all about Elvis Presley, Bobby Sherman,  the Beatles and of course Donnie Osmond Smiley from millan.net and the Osmond Brothers.  Then one day while listening to WAKY she heard a new song – ABC!  Oh how she loved that song and became a fan of the group singing it.  Her first 45 record was Help, then came Kentucky Rain and finally ABC!  She played them on a little portable record player she won for selling Christmas cards at her elementary school.  The little girl grew up, broadening her taste in music over the years, but she always remained a fan of the artistry and music by the King of Pop.  That little girl was me and all that I could do yesterday was sit on the couch with weepy eyes! (And can you tell that someone is a huge fan of Golden Girls reruns)

Now that we’ve had our walk down memory lane, let’s get to the true reason for this post!

It’s Rubbernecker WACKY WEDNESDAY Challenge #19 and I’m the hostess today!  My challenge to you and the Rubbernecker Red-Hot Mommas is a Color Challenge – – – pink, purple and green!  You can find out all the details on the challenge and how to get your name in the drawing for a Certificate good for 40% off your next Rubbernecker Stamps order by visiting the Rubbernecker Blog.

When I first thought of these colors for the challenge, I actually had an idea in my head for what I wanted to do.  The problem was that once I got the image finished, the paper I had picked out did not work as well as I thought.  It took me longer to decided how to layout the card and the background that to color the darned image!

WW19

The image was embossed with gold embossing powder and then water colored with Tombow Markers.  The edges of the image and all the background panels were sponged with Antique Linen.  I used the Wrinkle Free Distress technique using Worn Lipstick, Shabby Shutters and Dusty Concord Distress Inks for the background panel.  The top part of the card was punched with a scallop border punch and then folded over the background.

By the way, we have some birthdays among the Red-Hot Mommas today.  Candy and Jules both turn 40 today!  Please stop by their blogs and wish them a Happy Birthday . . . I know they’ll love it!  This one is for you girls!

Oh my BADness!  I can’t believe so many of you left comments yesterday, and most all of you were first timers!  You made me so tickled through out the day reading your comments.  I truly didn’t want you to comment just for the sake of getting comments.  I wanted to know that what I am doing on  my blog is inspiring and motivating you; AND I got my answer . . . IT IS, IT TRULY IS!!!  Thank you all so very much for giving me such a great day yesterday.

I suppose y’all are wondering who the winner is . . . so without further ado

LYNNOR GOODWIN

OK…I”m a lurker!! I admit it! I’ve admired your style for years on SCS and as my schooling was winding down, I started to subscribe to the blogs of some of the SCSers whose styles I admired most! Look forward to seeing what you have created without having to search for it! On SCS, I’m icensheba. Your card today is gorgeous! I carry watercolor paper with me wherever I am stamping and usually forget to use it! You have inspired me to get it out today when I do my challenge card for SCS today! Thanks for sharing your talents and creativity with all of us!! You’re awesome!!

I have to admit that when I read “OK…I’m a lurker!!” it grabbed me right away!   When I was a Challenge Chaser on Splitcoaststampers (those that do the daily challenges and who always chatted together in the mornings waiting for the challenge to be posted) I always tried to get the “lurkers” to join in the chat!  You know they’re there, but they don’t think you do! Smiley from millan.net

LYNNOR please email me your address and I’ll get the card out to you!

That’s all I have for now . . . might be back later . . . (want to see what the Color Challenge is)  . . .Smiley from millan.net

Good morning! Smiley from millan.net I hope everyone enjoyed your holiday weekend!  I had the family in on the 4th for a cookout and some together time.  Of course, it rained so I set the grill up at the garage door and everything worked just great!  Good times with my girls, their boyfriends and my mother!

Sunday afternoon I felt the need to be creative, but didn’t know what I wanted to do.  I have projects that NEED to be done, but I was in the mood to play and not be too serious about it. Smiley from millan.net I thought about doing some water coloring, but silhouettes were calling me from across the room.  So I went to my SU cabinet, opened the doors, and there in front of me . . . . Inspired by Nature!

PurpleConeFlowersJuly6

I’ve gone through so much watercolor paper recently that it was difficult, but I did find one scrap that was the right size for the images.  The first thing I did was mist the watercolor paper with water and let it sit until semi dry.  While the paper was drying, I went ahead and colored the grass with markers.  When you could still see water sitting on the paper, I misted the stamp with water and then stamped on the watercolor paper.  Because I wanted this background image softer, I misted the stamped image with more water, let it bleed a little, and then dabbed off the water with a towel.  The flowers were then inked with markers, misted with water and stamped over the background.   Oh how I’ve missed playing around with silhouettes with this technique.

Now I have a challenge for you today.  I’ve been getting emails from some of you saying that you subscribe to my blog, but I never see you comment.  I love it when you leave a comment, because that is one of the ways that I get to know you!  I’ve made some great friends through my blogging and sometimes actually get to meet them in person.  Anyhoo, here’s my challenge!  Leave me a comment, especially you subscribers that are to shy to comment Smiley from millan.net, and I will pick one lucky winner to receive this card!  You have until midnight EST tonight!  Can’t wait to hear from you and thanks for stopping in today!
