Good Friday morning!  I’ve been somewhat of a slacker this week . . . got no mojo working apparently.  I just hate when that happens!  Anyhoo, I started this card a few days ago and finally finished it up last night while watching “Pirates.”

While at CHA I picked up a couple of the new Creative Scraps from the Crafty Secrets booth.  I’ve been waiting to make a project with them basically because I didn’t know when they were going to be released.  I checked their website a few days ago and saw them, so I figured it was safe.

August27EEK

Such a quick card actually, despite my slacking.  No stamping, no coloring . . . some die cutting and sewing . . . card done!

I suppose I should tell you that I’ve made a few creative changes this week.  I’ve stepped down from all my design teams except for Spellbinders.  You know how I tell you to take advantage of the adventures that come your way . . . . well, I did!  Stay tuned . . .  there’s a huge adventure coming our way!

Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, make each day count and live it to it’s fullest!

Good Tuesday morning!  It is Tuesday isn’t it?  It has been a fast and furious few days around the Cheever Household.  There have been meetings, phone calls, planting more bushes and shrubs (only have 2 left), and even a few hours in the ER with Kate on Saturday.  I’ve had some time sensitive projects to get done, one being the video and tutorial that will go live on Splitcoaststampers tomorrow, plus some Spellbinders™ stuff that needed to be done quickly.

I had a phone call on Saturday from Sharon at Sharon’s Crop Studio in Greenwood, Indiana and we set some dates for me to teach a few classes.  I’ll be there the first weekend in October!  One class I know for sure will be a 2×4 Chunky Tag.  The others I’ll be able to gather more information on after this weekend.  Busy, busy weekend coming up.  Saturday is Stampaway in Cincinnati, Ohio and then Sunday is the Induction for the Kentucky Motorsports Hall of Fame.  I’m so proud for my dad and uncle to both be inducted this year.

I’m sure you’re wondering by now what’s up today.  Its a Stamp Simply Ribbon Store Design Team Hop and the theme is Autumn Splendor.

There are a number of things that come to mind when I think of Autumn . . . family reunions, the start of school, harvest times, Thanksgiving and one of my most favorite, Halloween.

There’s no stamping or sewing on this card, only the Graphic 45 Halloween papers.  A couple of the pages in the pad have these great images that make perfect quick and easy cards.

  • Paper:  Graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland* – Through the Looking Glass and You’re Late; Black; Cream
  • Accessories:  1.25” Rust 100% Silk May Arts Ribbon*; Brads; Foam Mounting Tape

Of course, you’ll want to visit the other designers participating today and leave them some comments.  I know you’ll want a chance to win the blog candy, which you’ll find listed on Sharon’s blog.

I’m sure I don’t need to tell you how sneaky Sharon is about picking the winner of the blog candy.  We never know which blog the winner is chosen from until it’s time to announce.  I’m just sayin!

Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, so take advantage of the adventures that come your way today.  Me?  I’m going to The Jersey Boys tonight with my mom and sister!

Good Monday morning!  I hope y’all had a great weekend and you’re all refreshed and ready to start a new week.  Personally I’m struggling with it  . . . . but hey, we all can’t be rosy . . .  but we can be peachy!

So I got myself unpacked, laundry done, stuff carried into the studio and I’m ready to start designing.  I came back with some great ideas and a few special things to play with.  What’s that?  You want to know what those special things are?  Nope not gonna tell yet because if I did what would the secret and surprise be.  Stayed tuned though because you are going to love it!

Now that CHA is over I’m able to show you some of my favorite projects I did for the booth.  This one today is way to fun and I could hardly wait to show it to you.

GRAVEYARD

The background is a chipboard page that was covered in ink and then stamped on with the haunted house and the weeds in the foreground.  I knew from the get go when I saw these new graveyard die templates exactly what I wanted to do.  All the gravestones and the witch were cut from Grunge Paper.  The border piece was mounted on the outside of scrap wood trim that was painted black.  The other two headstones were popped up in the back at different heights.

GRAVEYARD CLOSEUP

I loved this project and had such fun making it.  It’s always fun when you first see something, envision the outcome, and pull it off!

Well, I guess that’s all I have for today.  I need to run some errands and spend some time with Mallory.  It won’t be long until she’s back at school!  Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, enjoy the adventures of the day!

Smiley from millan.net Good morning!  How was your day yesterday?  I stayed as busy as I wanted to be . . . mostly sitting and rocking and it made me so tired . . . I had to take a Smiley from millan.net

My project today is a little early in the year for it (Halloween), but I found this awesome Haunted House stamp in the Just For Fun® booth when I was in Orlando.  I have a project that I’m working on and this stamp will work perfectly with it (if I don’t change my mind).  I decided to play around a little last night and see what I could do with it!

HauntedHouseJune29(3)

The image is actually much bigger than this, I ended up cutting it down when I die cut it out.

Haunted House

Isn’t that one fabulous image?

I stamped the house first, then worked the ink around the image.  I really wanted it to look like the moon is shining on the house in an eerie sort of way.  Behind the sentiment, there is stamped very lightly a spider web.  Looking at it now it probably cold have  been a little darker.

Well, that’s all I have for now.  I’m heading down to do some cleaning and a little organization so I can keep on working!  Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . . life is short, enjoy the day’s adventures!

Good Saturday morning and Happy World Card Making Day!  I’ll be participating in a few challenges today and having some fun stamping the day away.  I’ve already forewarned Mr. Stodgy that I’ll be in the studio as much as possible today.

Thanks for all the input on the paper!  I’m not surprised that so many of you recommended Gina K. and Papertrey.  What I was looking for was a great colored cardstock and I have decided to go with Papertrey.  I ordered all of it a few days ago and am patiently waiting for it to arrive . . .  okay not so patiently.  I use Neenah for my white and will continue to do so, but I did order some white and cream to have around.  I still have a boatload of Prism and will be looking to fill in some of the colors that I’m out of.  I’ve got a lead on Prism paper, but need to follow up and when I get the link, I’ll let you know!

Last night I was here in the studio putzing around, catching up with blogs on Google Reader, playing games, etc., and suddenly decided what I needed to make.  I’ve had some of Tim Holtz’s Seasonal Grunge Board for some time now.  Actually I think I got it when it first came out and then he gave us some more in a class at CHA.  I’ve looked at it all week trying to decide how to incorporate it into a Halloween card.  Well, I finally figured it out!  I went to Splitcoaststampers’ Resource Section and found Beate’s great tutorial on creating a Stair Step Fold Card.  I’ve been wanting to try this style of card for some time!

There’s no stamping on this card, but I’m very pleased with it nonetheless and will keep it setting out over the next couple of months.  I’ll then add it to my Halloween decorations.

Haunted House

Even though Beate’s tutorial did not call for a back on the card, I added one to it.  I wanted the grunge board house to have a background that looked like a spooky sky.  While I was working on the card and trying to decide what to do with the background, I saw Heidi Blankenship’s latest post on using Tattered Angels Glimmer Screens with the Spellbinders Wizard.  Luckily I just purchased some Glimmer Screens while at the Cincinnati Stampaway Show, and tried it!  Wow what a fabulous result and one that I will use over and over again!  I was given a sample of Raven Glimmer Mist at CHA and used that to spray on the background.  The house, bats and cat were painted with black paint and then covered with Rock Candy Distress Stickles.  The sentiments and pumpkins in the back are from My Mind’s Eye The Spider Web.  I cut the sentiments from one of the pieces of paper and took a section of the pumpkin page and glued it to plain Grunge Board.

  • Paper:  My Mind’s Eye – The Spider’s Web; Mini Manila Tag; Basic Black
  • Ink:  Ranger Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Black Soot and Vintage Photo Distress
  • Accessories:  Ranger Pitch Black Acrylic Paint Dabber, Matte Accents, Rock Candy Distress Stickles, Claudine Hellmuth Studio Matte Multi-Medium; Tim Holtz idea-ology Seasonal and Plain Grunge Board; Tattered Angels Glimmer Screens – Fanciful Stencils and Raven Glimmer Mist; Tsukineko Sponge Daubers; Ribbon

I guess that’s all I have for the moment, but I’m sure I’ll have more for you later tonight.  I hope you have a fabulous day and thanks stopping by!
