Good morning!  Boy I sure didn’t mean for my posts to be so far apart starting this month out.  I was gone for the weekend and then I’ve had a little helper for a couple of days, making it a little hard to get some quality studio time.

Anyhoo, I’m sharing a card over on the Quietfire Creations Blog today using Quietfire Design Garden Delights and Graphic 45 Secret Garden.  I needed to add a bit of spring time color into my day besides all the snow, sleet and rain that we are having.

I hope you’ll take a few minutes and pop over to the Quietfire Creations Blog to take a look at more photos and get all the details.

One more quick note . . . I’ve got a couple of surprises coming up in the next month!  I’m pretty darn excited about them!!

Good morning and happy Monday!  Are you ready for 2013 to be over?  I know I am!  It’s been a pretty tough year around here but I’m happy to report that things are finally on an upswing.    Now I just have to get my mojo going in the same direction!

I’ve worked in the studio all weekend and sadly only ended up with a couple of cards.  One I showed you Saturday and the other I have today.  I had these great ideas but when I started to get them going, everything ended up in the trash.  Saturday night I walked away from it all and just threw my hands up.  Sunday afternoon I headed back in with nothing in mind at all and decided to go through my paper stash to find some inspiration.

Here’s what I came up with . . .

QFD Valentine

Digging deep into the paper stash I found an old pad of My Mind’s Eye Lost & Found Blush and the colors hit me right away!  So I figured why not a Valentine’s Day card.

I picked out some coordinating sheets and started the distressing and sponging (Antique Linen).  I really liked the dress form on the one sheet and didn’t want to cover it up, so everything was placed at the top of the card.

The flower were die cut/embossed from other sheets of the paper pad with Spellbinders® Bitty Blossoms.  The leaves were die cut from watercolor paper with Foliage and then inked with Peeled Paint.  Buried deep under it all is a frame made from chipboard that was die cut with Labels Four.  I didn’t realize that I ended up covering the whole damn thing up until I took the picture, but hopefully you can see a little bit poking out at the top and bottom.  The sentiment, Quietfire Design Valentine’s 2013, was stamped in Coffee and then die cut/embossed with Ovals LG.  While the paper was still in the die template it was sponged with Antique Linen.

I guess that’s all for me right now!  Hopefully I’ll be back in soon with another project . . . in the meantime, thanks for stopping by!

Project Supplies:

Good morning!  The other day I was planning what I wanted to do for my last few cards this month, and I realized that I haven’t been taking advantage of all the images available at my favorite site . . . Twisted Papers.  If you are new here and haven’t seen references to Twisted Papers before, you must check them out for top-quality downloadable vintage images at very reasonable prices.  Another plus, in my book, is that Russell and Stan who own the company, are so great to work with!

SO . . . a few nights ago I went shopping and downloaded three or four images that I thought I might use in some projects.  The first one is a fabulous Thomas Nast Santa!

TwistedPaperSanta

Because the images are digital, you have the freedom after downloading to open them in photo software and change the size.  I worked with this one starting at 800, down to 600 and then again at 700 (which is where I settled out).  I like to resize, print them out and then determine what will fit in a specific die template that fits the image.  The Spellbinders® Rectangles were perfect for this image, I just needed to get the sizing correct.

The image was printed off onto white heavy cardstock, then die cut/embossed.  While the image was still in the die template, Antique Linen ink was sponged/stenciled onto the image leaving that beautiful white border around the outside.

The paper used is some old cardstock I had on hand and, I think, last year’s My Mind’s Eye Lost & Found Christmas collection.  Don’t hold me to that one . . . but it is one of my favorite Christmas collections.  I wanted to add a little tag to the ribbon and found the “Ho! Ho! Ho!” in a very old stamp set in my cabinet.  As a matter of fact, I think it might have been the very first Christmas set I ever purchased back in 1997, give or take.

I’ve got a few more ideas to share over the next few weeks so I hope you’ll stop back in and visit!

Good morning y’all!  Don’t be shocked or anything . . . but I actually worked in the studio yesterday.  I know . . . don’t faint!   We’ve been getting in the holiday spirit around here lately.  The girls have been making wreaths and I’ve been rejoicing that Hadlee is finally taking her first unassisted steps and hopefully will be in full walk mode by Christmas!

I went on the hunt for all my Christmas stamps yesterday, pulling out my favorites to start the season with.  The first one I pulled out is my favorite little snowman from Unity Stamp Company.

The image was colored with colored pencils and then die cut/embossed with Spellbinders™ Large Circles.  The layers alternate between small and large, ending the large scalloped circles.

The paper is some My Mind’s Eye Lost & Found Christmas Special that I picked up at Michaels.  The edges were distressed, sponged with Antique Linen and sewn to the base kraft cardstock.

I’ve had these rusty jungle bells for years and thought they would be a fun embellishment to add along with the ticket stub.  The seam binding was dyed with Antique Linen and the bells are tied to a memo holder with twine.

That’s all for my project today.  Just want to remind you that my contest is still up on the Spellbinders Blog from yesterday.  I believe the winner will be announced on Tuesday so you still have time to enter.

Thanks for joining me today!

Good morning!  Hope everyone is doing well.  First things first, a great big thank you to everyone who contacted me regarding Mallory’s symptoms.  We so appreciate all your concerns, thoughts and prayers!  Hopefully we’ll know more sooner than later.

On another note, today is Hadlee’s first birthday!!!!!  The big party is planned for tomorrow . . . WOO HOO!!!  She’s not walking yet, but she is starting to stand on her, climb everything that’s in her path and is becoming quite the little dare devil . . . and she has 2 bottom teeth!  Hope she can eat that cake tomorrow.

My last thing today . . . it’s my day to post over on the Quietfire Creations Blog.
