Today is the Limited Supply Challenge on SCS. The challenge today is to create a one layer card using only a sentiment or verse stamp. You can use all the embellishments you want, but the card can only be one layer. Now making a one layer card is very difficult for me, I love layers and lots of them. Like to use my background stamps too! But alas, they can’t be used today either. Needless to say, this challenge is step outside the box for me, but I’m rather happy with the results. I’m sure there is a stalker having a birthday soon!

Since background stamping was not allowed in the challenge, and I wanted a little texture to the card, I used 140 lb. Canson watercolor paper. The sentiment was stamped using Happy Everything from SU, in Black Stazon Ink, and the ribbon was tied around the card. To give the card a little more texture, I sewed a line of black stitching around the outside of the card. You gotta love my girls for giving me that sewing machine for my birthday! To finish off the card, the red/maroon prima was added, and the rhinestone was the finishing touch.

Well, I have to apologize for not keeping up my posts this week. I let things backlog, stamping mojo wasn’t working, and found myself scrambling at the end to get ready for the Fan Club Gallery. What I’ve learned this month, is that I cannot let the challenges on SCS go. I’m finding that by not doing them, I’m settling into a stamping slump and really need something to push me. So my vow to myself is to do the challenges, have to keep the creative juices flowing!

This card is actually a combination for today’s Ways to Use it Challenge, WT104, and yesterday’s Sketch Challenge, SC115.

I started with a piece of Whisper White paper, using my sea sponge, sponged Pretty in Pink on the paper. Once it was dry I ran it through the cuttlebug and then cut it up into 3 separate layers. The flower is made using the CB die (help me, I can’t remember the name) and then a rhinestone was mounted in the center. After it was done, I felt the panels needed just something a little extra, so I stitched around each individual panel.

The base of the card and the pink layers of the flower and main panel is made using Iced Pink paper from Prism Papers.

I made a promise to a friend, that I would do the sketch challenge on SCS no matter what. Today is a pretty busy day around here, I’ve got stamp club to prepare for, some sorority things to do and once again, DH is home sick. Now he’s been sick all week but has at least gone to work and come home early. Image my surprise this morning when I got up at the normal 6:00 and HE is still home – not going to work today. Well that just puts a cramp my day! THEN, Mallory, my 18 year old, informs me that this is a half-day of school! Think I might have to run some errands this afternoon!

Anyhoo, I did do the sketch challenge this morning and here’s the card. What a fun sketch and such a fun card to make. I’m sure I’ve got a few birthdays’ coming up – like Kate will be 21 on March 2, might have to put this card away so she won’t see it! I’m really liking the black and white with just a touch of color these days and wanted to try my hand one again. I cuttlebugged the background layers using the Bloom Dots embossing folder and then mounted them both on basic black cardstock. I used my square punches to make the triangle shapes and markers to color the little cow. Drew some doodles, set eyelets into the sentiment to run the ribbon through, mounted the sentiment and the middle image on dimensionals, we have a card!

Cool Caribbean Roses

I finally found a little time to stamp today and did this card for the color challenge on SCS. The challenge today was to use the colors Cool Caribbean, Certainly Celery and Elegant Eggplant. The idea for this card actually came to me while I was lolling in the hot tub this morning. I seem to get more ideas and solve all the worlds’ problems in the early mornings – while lolling! If I’m edgy, depressed or just plain ole blah, a few minutes in the hot tub and I’m at peace!

So, this morning while I was contemplating some personal things that have happened over the last month or so, I remembered a phrase that my dad once told me . . . Small minds discuss people, Average minds discuss events, and Great minds discuss ideas. I would like to be able to credit the original author, but I just can’t remember. This is a phrase from an old newspaper clipping that my dad carried in his wallet. He gave it to me to help me get over some hard times, I still have it – just don’t know where at this precise moment. He would not be happy with me! Anyhoo, there are times that I need to remind myself the difference of being small minded or great minded. For the most part, I choose to be of great mind and need to remember that those people who do talk about you in a negative manner are simply being small minded. Here is today’s card – a tribute to my dad (now I hope he quits turning on my living room light)!

I found time to stamp yesterday! On Thursday, I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off, spinning in circles, stuff and papers spread all over the house and found that I had no time at all to stamp. I had received my new Spring Mini Preorder the night before and wanted so desperately to play with the new sets, but alas, other important things to attend to. The following two cards I stamped Friday morning as a double challenge on SCS, the Ways to Use It Challenge from Thursday, and Friday’s Limited Supply Challenge. Of course, I also wanted a sample for Stamp Club with some of the new sets — think I need to work a little more on that one!

This card below is the new Office Accoutrement set in the Sping Mini. What perfect images for birthdays, anniversaries, it’s just figuring a way to use them! I’ll get it yet! Paper used was Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue. Inks were Stazon Brown, Apricot Appeal and Bashful Blue. Hard to see here, but the background panel is stamped with Paisly in Bashful Blue on Bashful Blue. The flowers were stamped in Apricot Appeal and then rock and rolled in Bashful Blue. The ribbons were scraps (which was the challenge today — to use scrap ribbon), but that cute little brown and blue checked ribbon was a gift from Terri. Thank you Terri!

My second card yesterday. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for spring and a little golfing. Petal Prints was used here and were colored in markers, spritzed with a little water and then stamped three times to give some dimension. Flannel Plaid is stamped on both background panels in the same color as the paper. Inks used were Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip and Mellow Moss. Of course, the ribbon are scraps from my scrap jar to work into today’s challenge.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and you get plenty of stamping time. I’m gonna run an errand with Daughter #1 this afternoon and I really should be getting my tush in gear!
