Smiley from millan.net Happy Thursday!  I’m today getting my laundry done and packing to leave tomorrow morning.  I’m sure I told you, BUT. . . if you are in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area, I’ll be demonstrating in the Rubbernecker Stamp Booth this coming weekend at the 1st Annual Fall Rubber Stamp Show at the Expo New Mexico State Fairgrounds.  If you happen to be at the show, please come by and say HI!

Not too long ago, a close family friend asked me to make her some cards.  She knew exactly what she wanted and for whom she wanted it for.  It pleases me when I get to make cards, with just that right touch of humor, for someone special. Smiley from millan.net

This card was for her mother, who happens to love leopard and well . . . enough said.

The sentiment on the next card is the most important thing about the card.  It was for a friend that recently had surgery (yes, some female surgery).

This last card, I honestly can’t remember who it was for.  I do vaguely remember however, there was something about being 50+ years old, toe shoes and being flexible.

Well, that’s all I have today . . . how I love a bit of twisted humor!  I hope you have a great day!

Smiley from millan.net Good Tuesday morning!  I hope you made it to the polls yesterday.  I did!  Luckily there wasn’t a line when I got there and walked right in.  I really think I spent more time talking to all my neighbors that it took to vote.  As much as this “never-ending” campaign has caught my attention – like none other – I’m so glad that it’s over.  I don’t think I could have watched one more negative campaign commercial.

Today is another Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge, and Bev has given us a good one!  Today’s challenge is to make a card using more than one fold.  You can find all the information for participation on the Rubbernecker Stamps Blog.

There were two things on my mind when I made my card for today’s challenge.  I wanted a tri-fold card based on a sketch that we have had as the challenge before, and I wanted it to be a birthday card.  It seems I never have enough birthday cards on hand, and I have a few coming up that I will need a card for.  This card in particular is for my mother-in-law.

Dragonfly trifold

I started with a 5-1/2×11 sheet of white cardstock which was scored at 3″ and 6″, to make my front folds.  To add color to both the front and inside of the card, I swiped Dusty Concord, Spiced Marmalade and Broken China on my Ranger Craft Sheet and then misted the ink with water until beads formed on the craft sheet.  By lying the paper in the ink/water mixture, and ironing to dry in between applying layers of ink, I colored the cardstock.  Once I had the layers of color I wanted, I misted the paper with Broken China/Gold Pearlized-Distress Mist.  The dragonfly and sentiment were stamped in Distress Embossing Ink and then embossed with Ranger Queen’s Gold EP.

So that I would have a panel on the inside to write a personal message, I trimmed down a piece of white cardstock and then embossed another dragonfly.

The ribbon is wrapped around the card and attached under the sentiment panel.  That way, I could tie a bow to hold the card together.

Good morning!  Smiley from millan.net I didn’t have much time to stamp over the weekend, and yesterday was filled with household chores.  I hope you didn’t miss me too much!

As I’m sure you’re aware, its Smiley from millan.net Treasure Hunt Tuesday at Rubbernecker.  If you hop on over to the Rubbernecker Stamps Blog, you’ll get all the info and deets for participation.  You’ll also find a list of all the Rubbernecker Designers so you can poke around and find out who has blog candy today.

For my card today, I decided to use one of the new Stamp Oasis images, the fireplace set.  While working on the card last night, I made a little boo boo with some ink, and had to trim down the top of the fireplace mantle.  I had already picked the background paper out, thinking that it looked like old-fashioned wallpaper that might be a great backdrop for this fireplace.

SO Fireplace SetThe image was colored with Copic Markers and then I used an Inkssentials White Opaque Pen to highlight the decorative part of the fireplace.  The edges of the image and the background papers were sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  After the edges were sponged, the background panels were sewn together on my sewing machine.
