Well, here I sit . . . still in my recliner but feeling better day after day.  I went back to the doctor on Tuesday expecting to get the stitches removed . . . since they did make the appointment for me.  BUT (notice how that’s a big but), they wanted to know why I was back so early.  Excuse Me!  Y’all made the appointment, I’m just showing up as told.  They did remove the stitches from the top of my ear down to my chin . . . thank goodness, because the very last one was driving me nuts.  I now have an appointment for Friday morning to hopefully have the rest removed (probably the other 33 or something like that).

Did I tell you that Mallory finally shaved my head for me over the weekend?  I really kind of like it . . . it feels so neat to rub it one way and then the other.  Okay i know  . . . sick, sick, sick.  But one way it’s really soft and the other bristly.

BEWARE —- GRAPHIC DETAILS!

Now I wouldn’t do this for just anyone, but for you . . . . Her Royal Baldness!

me2

Notice how that right eyebrow looks a little more perky that the left one?  Quite honestly, I think I may have still been on pain killers when this was done.  Those eyes do look a little glazed over!  Now the reason for the baldness  . . . this is how much they actually shaved my head the day of surgery.  I’m sorry, but half a Mohawk just didn’t do it for me!

me1

You might as well share the entire adventure with me . . . Smiley from millan.net  If you are wondering why all the stitches, I got a mini facelift to have enough skin to cover the hole made from the surgery.

I still haven’t been in the studio. Today I finished getting the Christmas decorations gathered up so they could be taken downstairs. As long as they aren’t setting out anymore I can handle it and they can be put away much later.

The laundry is still going tonight and I’m hoping beyond all belief, that I feel like walking into the studio tomorrow.  I’ve been making notes, storing stuff on my computer that I find to be interested, and have some fab ideas to get down on paper.    I’m feeling some bad girl humor coming your way (right after the CHA projects that I’m supposed to have done and don’t).

As I’ve been telling everyone who has called the last couple of days, I’m feeling better with each passing day.  Now that I’m off the pain killers and taking Motrin for the hurts and ows, each day is easier.  I only wish not that I could actually sleep the way I like  . . . all curled up on my right side (NOT my left and NOT on my back)!  uh don’t even go there okay . . . I’m thinking it for you!

  1. Really brave of you to shave your head, such a wise thing to do. It looks better than “halfsies”, and the upkeep is minimal. I look forward to your creations, but I encourage you to rest. You certainly deserve some down time to recover, and creative mojo is often the by-product of fallow time. My best wishes for you. WRE

  2. well aren’t you the fashion mave….grinz… Get someone to go to the health food store and buy you some Biotin. It’s good for making hair & nails grow….

    Keep getting well….

  9. WOW you go girl!!..MUCH better than the half hawk!!

  10. Did any of us realize just how MANY stitches you had to have? I surely did not. Good Lord girl —– not a nice way to get a mini lift, but, I applaud your decision to go ahead and shave all the hair off. You go girl!!! We await the time when you are all better, back to your bad self, and back in the studio.

  11. That is one wicked incision! I hope it heals fast. Good for you for taking the plunge with the hair! A buzz cut does have a fun feel to it. Like suede with a little bit of nap. 🙂

  12. Wow….when you said you had stitches, I had no idea. You look beautiful to me. I like the new do…. At least for awhile you can’t say….I washed my hair and can’t do a thing with it…. Looking forward to seeing lots from her Royal Badness in 2010.

  13. I’m so sorry you had to go through all this – but aren’t you the trend setter. Well, okay, I’m not shaving my head, but you sure look rockin’. You are one brave girl.

  14. That’s a heck of a scar you’ve got there, Sherry! You could get some awesome do rags… maybe an eye patch. Now, that would be one BAD Sherry! Really, you are a brave soul and it’s good to share the experience. We care about you. Really.

  15. You look wonderful…wish you could meet my sister who is also Ms. Baldness (the result of chemo from breast cancer). You two would enjoy each others’ company…she’s a lot of fun, too, and has a “bite me” attitude about the whole cancer ordeal. Brave women fighting hard…you’ve gotta love it.

    Big hugs and prayers,
    Nancy.

  16. Oh Sherry! Bless your heart! But hey! You look really good without hair – sort of sexy…giggle. Take it easy and let your body have a chance to heal. We’re praying for you.

  20. Not everyone can carry off the “Bald is Beautiful look” but you’re Rockin’ it.. I had no idea the amount of stitches you received –> Ouch! You are one brave soul for sharing your journey but I for one am glad because it helps define who you are and will flow over into your creative badness of which I cannot wait to see! Glad your off the meds, love the do and hope you can get back into your comfy sleeping position soon!

    ~Smiles, Sherry

  21. Now at least it will all grow in together. I have a feeling one morning you will wake up and you’ll be surprised to be on the right side. I like the new do. You are very brave for sharing thank you for that. 🙂

  22. I feel for you not sleeping! Everything will gradually go back to normal! It takes lots of patience (which you have). I think I learned patience back in the spring when I fractured my ankle, left broken and right sprained. My laptop was my baby! Your baldness won’t last long and if you want, you could model baseball caps! Am thinkig about you! Keep a light heart!

  23. Girl!!! You are amazing and so brave to share this with all your blogging friends. I hope you are able to get the rest of the stitches out this week and can’t wait to see your bad cards!

The day we got married my husband’s fingers and hands could no longer work a washing machine! They locked up and now all they are good for is hunting….and fishing….well, and holding my hand, thank badness! I know what you mean about running your hand over your head, feels really good, kinda like soft cordorouy(can’t even begin to figure out how to spell this word, have the same problem with the little mexican dog, chihauhau????) Big inky hugs!

  33. Sherry,

It was so good to chat with you yesterday and nice to see you have such a wonderful humor….all I can say is wow that is alot of stitches. You are such a brave lady in more ways then I can even begin to list. Hugs to you my friend. Terre

  34. Love the new bald look, not a lot of people can carry it off. I am so pleased that you are feeling better each day. Take your time and recover at you own pace, you will return to the studio when you are ready. I am really looking forward to seeing your amazing creations, thank you so much for sharing your life and work with us all.

  35. My mother did the exact same thing after her surgery. Her staples went behind her ear instead of in front. She figured it might as well all grow in together. Actually i think she enjoyed the low maintenance of it all.
I hope you have a speedy recovery and glad to hear all is going well.
    Take care
    Kristy 🙂

  36. Hi Sherry

Gosh! Have I really been away this long! Sending you healing thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

I crocked my back Christmas Eve and haven’t been online much since, propped up on cushions, I wanted to catch up on blog buddies and here I am. So sorry not to have offered support earlier.

Hope you are able to sleep more comfortably really soon. I’m the same, I hate it if I end up sleeping on my back, it gives me nightmares for some reason.

Take care, rest up and I hope you feel better really soon

    Best wishes

    Billie

  37. Hi Sherry,

Your humor and great outlook have helped you through this. Whew, lots of stitches, no wonder you hurt. Love your cards and hope you’re back soon. Rest up and take it easy for now. My word for 2010 is relax. I’m in too much of a hurry all the time and not concious of it. On a side note, you have a nicely shaped head, looks good. It’s nice to start the year with this behind you.

  38. Sherry, you own that look!! 😉 Jeeze, that is one wicked looking row of stitches. You deserve some pampering after going thru all that. Please take it easy so you will get well that much faster! Lots of hugs, Debbie
