It’s Dare to Get Dirty Week at Splitcoaststampers! If you’re a Fan Club Member this is your chance to play along with Dirty Girls, past and present, in a ton of fun challenges. My project today is a sample that I’ve created for Sharon Johnson’s challenge. You can find all the details about the challenge here!

I started with a chipboard page from a Maya Road book, and covered it with designer paper. All the flowers are made using Spellbinders die templates and Grunge Paper. I covered the Grunge Paper with designer paper before any die cutting. The leaves are made from Grunge Board and inked in Peeled Paint Distress Ink. I stamped the word Dream separately from the rest of the sentiment and put it in an Ornate Plate. From there I covered the word with Glossy Accents to make a dimensional front to the Ornate Plate. The hanger is made from florist wire held by the back of the brads. Actually, everything on this project is covered with designer paper that has either been applied to chipboard or Grunge Paper. Way too much fun!!!!!!!!.

Good Monday morning. How was your weekend? I spent the better part of Friday and Saturday working on The Master Plan. Things are coming along nicely and changing more than I first thought. Mr. Stodgy has really gotten into the project and comes home each day with something new. I’ll have more of an update for you later.

On Saturday I showed you my Spellbinders Blog Frenzy Projects. This is my second project from that day, a wall hanging I call Total Eclipse of the Heart. Today I want to tell you how I put this project together.

The backing is a Grunge Board page from one of the idea-ology books. I added a wood shelf along the bottom using some hobby wood trim that I found at Michaels. It was painted black, sanded in spots to look worn, and then inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

To make the Grunge Paper embellishments, I die cut/embossed Spellbinders™ S4-299 Fallen Angel and S4-298 Antiquities, two of the new dies from Spellbinders™. You can see my step-by-step instructions on die cutting/embossing Grunge Paper and pictures of the new dies here.

The wings were covered with Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint and then sponged over with Old Paper Distress Ink to enhance the cracks. The sword and Fleur de Lis were sponged in Black Soot and the embossed areas were highlighted with gold acrylic paint. Because there were already two holes at the top of the Grunge Board page, I added one more to hold the Fleur de Lis on with brads.

The crown was die cut/embossed twice, but I didn’t remove the open die cuts from the back layer of the crown. That layer was inked in red and the top layer of the crown (with all die cut areas removed) was painted with gold acrylic paint. To add some interest I applied some brown and black ink and rubbed on some Green Patina Perfect Pearls.

Because I was playing on the song, Total Eclipse of the Heart, I had a wicked idea that the hanging needed a bottle of love potion. When in Orlando I picked up the medicine bottle stamp from the Just For Fun® booth, just for this purpose. I’ve been stashing the plastic containers that stamps come in, and decided it was perfect to use for the bottle. I stamped the image in Archival Jet Black, cut it out and then colored on the back with blue Alcohol Ink.

The sentiments were generated on the computer and then die cut/embossed with different Spellbinders™ labels. I remembered an old rusty key that I had picked up some where, grunged up some silk ribbon to tie on the key, and added it along the top of the wood shelf.
